While I'm objectively pessimistic about Jones succeeding as a quality starting NFL QB, this is my start-of-the-season thread saying loudly:
Daniel - Make me eat my words.
I will gladly be wrong about my opinion, acknowledge my mistake and start thinking of you as a franchise QB. Much better to have a misjudgment in my history than have the Giants restart their QB search. I'll take Jones' success any day of the week - and especially on Sunday.
Do it.
If he isn't then it is likely that they will need to package both 1st round picks plus possibly more to move up for his replacement. Regardless this is meant to be a positive thread so...
LETS GO DANIEL JONES!!
You know exactly what will happen. If they win most of BBI will praise him and say he is off to a good start but let's see how he does moving forward. The small group of overly optimistic fans will claim that he's arrived.
Then there will be the usual handful of posters who will say that it means nothing because it's just one game.

We’d better hope Jones is the guy because while it’s early and some guys could potentially step up, I’m not convinced there’s a QB in the upcoming draft that is going to be a true franchise QB

We say that all the time and then it turns out to be the opposite. Remember that the Mayfield, Darnold, Rosen, Allen draft was supposed to rival the 2004 draft. Obviously only Allen is a true star.
The Trusbisky, Mahomes, Watson draft was considered a weak class. The truth is you never know.
Danny
I don't care about his stats and he can only do so much as 1 of 11 even though he's the most important one. But we need him to show us some NFL Franchise QB magic.
Steal a game or two when his team gets out played. Win a few games late and give everyone confidence that if the defense gets you the ball with a chance to win the game late you will do it.
A successful season for Daniel Jones in 2021 and the Giants with their draft capital in 2022 will be setup to be a contending team.
What a difference being healthy and having weapons will be. Just watch.
Same. I want him to prove the haters (me) wrong. I don't feel like fishing for a new QB.

What will happen on BBI if he goes for 300 yards, 4 touchdowns, and one fumble and we win or if we lose.

If he plays good it’s just one game, and if he plays bad it’s just one game. Let’s just take one game at a time, and see what happens. I still say it all depends on the O line though.
I'd love to be wrong about him.
Exactly! A good performance is NOT what he and other posters want, despite protestations to the contrary. Their words are and have been revealing ad nauseam.

you’ve stated your opinion multiple times and even started your own thread stating that Jones is done as a QB. You can sit this one out.

If DJ has a good game, it will be, “it’s only 1 game.” If he sucks today, it will be, “nothing has changed.”

Josh has been, and always will be, a hypocritical fraud.

The OL is going to be a weakspot on this team, I just don't think it's the disaster that people are making it out to be. Starting to think one of those first round picks next year needs to be tackle.

will improve, much needed weapons and TWO healthy wheels to make him that much more effective, imv. It’s written right there. He’ll have his TOs like many others, but hopefully they won’t arise from forcing stupid throws..

Hey, you and others could be proven right about the OL. I for one, am hopeful, but have no idea. As oft stated, I believe in Judge and his assistants. These are Judge’s young guys. There were mitigating circumstances concerning their maiden year. He brought in Rob Sale who he strongly believes in. I’ll put my faith in JJ and his evaluations. Where else am I going to learn about these guys? Agree with many here, mit’s going to take time to mesh. It may be painful. But the OL gets this year from me as a fan.

I just don't think it's going to be painful unless we lose Gates or AT. I think AT's performance against the Pats is being way overblown (knee jerk reactions on BBI say it aint so!) But Solder being competent is a tough sell, but you can get away with one bad tackle, not two. Ditto for guards when you have a center like Gates. Here's to the OL staying healthy.
I understand this may be complicated for someone like you to comprehend. But it’s possible to have an educated opinion about a player based on facts and evidence while still being a fan of a team and hoping your opinion turns out to be wrong. And I’ll never be like you and pretend like everything is great when it’s not.

There is nobody on this board rooting for Jones to fail. That is an absurd assertion.
There is a very big difference between believing a player isn’t very good and rooting for him not to be good. Some posters on BBI need to understand this.
