Gameday Jitters Since 1956,

clatterbuck : 9/12/2021 11:22 am
That's the first season I really remember. The banner is up on the porch. I'll be texting with my brother all day. My wife, kids also have the "affliction." Being a devoted Giants fan is in my family's DNA, win or lose. But, I gotta say, I'm at the age where I would really appreciate another good year before I'm vegging out and someone has to wipe the oatmeal off my chin
1959 or so for me

We didn't get to see that many games because of the stupid local broadcast blackout rules in effect by the NFL in those days.

But growing up in southwestern Connecticut if we could somehow pick up the Hartford CBS station we had a chance.

I was 2 weeks old when the Giants beat the Bears for the title, and I’ve been told I listened to the game on the radio.

with my dad and his Giants buddies.

Had mostly watched Browns games (from Maine) until then. Became (and remain) a fan to this day.
1968 for me.

Goodbye Allie years.
Dad would bring me to games and how bad were those teams.
They were my guys in the1960's as they are now. The hardest part is explaining to friends and even some loved ones why I am so immersed in this.

Still get revved up for the game, still get nervous, still die a death when they lose, and right back for more next game.

Do I wish I was a casual fan? Not in my DNA.

Happy New Year to all my BBI family, where I have the singular place to vent.

We did similar at the Jersey Shore. On Sundays you would see people on their roof turning the antennas from the NY feed to the Philadelphia feed to get the game.

The "DNA" fans get it.

Watching the Giants have been a constant in my life but unlike you my kids haven’t become big fans. But this is a big season for me becsuse after the fun we had together watching this past Knicks season my daughter is giving football “one more chance” and has agreed to watch all the Giants game with me this season!

I really hope the have a good season and are entertaining or I’ll probably lose her forever as a football fan. She finds it boring but in fairness to her every time she watched a game with me the Giants played boring lousy football and lost.

So I have printed off a roster and depth chart for her to make it easier for her to figure out who is who and find herself some favorite players, and hopefully the Giants have a fun season.

Go Giants
