Eagles vs Falcons - Starting top ten picks WR Devonta Smith and TE Kyle Pitts. Interesting to see who has the better day. Also two rookie head coaches go head to head.
Jets vs Panthers. Jets staring a rookie QB with a rookie head coach in week one. Only happened ten times since 2000. Also top ten picks QB Zach Wilson starts against starting Panther CB Jaycee Horn. Not to mention seeing how Darnold does.
Probably watch the Eagles and flip over occasionally to the Jets.
Washington is a bigger threat than Philly. It would take some of the pressure off if both Dallas and WFT lost their openers.
Me too. I live in the area and have a few SD players on my FF team. So I have two reasons to root harshly against them. Which is one more reason than I normally need.
Washington is a bigger threat than Philly. It would take some of the pressure off if both Dallas and WFT lost their openers.
I think WFT is the biggest threat in the division after seeing Dallas. They caught a break getting a west coast team at 1 opening day.
Agree. Washington is a pretty good team on the rise, with a strong defense. If they settle their QB situation they are going to be very solid. Dallas is (as always) overrated—they need to bolster their defense before they can contend. They are going to play a lot of shootouts like the opening night game.
going longer for 8 games. We know his MO by now, wouldn't be surprised if they are in first at the break, but how is he going to look in November December?
Talked more directly than I've heard him before about why he wanted out.
"They drafted my replacement. I was MVP and they didn't want to commit to me after 2021."
Also said he has wanted input into player personnel decisions.
Andrews led him into that by pointing to Brady recruiting a Super Bowl winner.
It comes down to the fact that they had no commitment to him. I wouldn't want to be an MVP going into every offseason not knowing if you are coming back. He's earned more than that and it's not like he's in decline.
I'm not surprised about the Eagles D. They're aging especially on the DL.
Well Falcons offense is pretty damn good, it's their D that's bad. More interested whats going on on that side of the ball for the Eagles. If Hurts can't put up points on them, they are in trouble.

The Eagles are the worst team in the division IMO. The truth is that WFT concerns me the most. Hopefully Fitzpatrick reverts back to the player he's been when he was the full-time starter.

Honestly if WFT front 7 keeps looking like this, and if we aren't a winning football team, NFC East is going to be a tallest midget contest again. They looked soft in preseason too, but chalked it up to preseason. Second drive coming up.
is trash, if they can't put up points against them, they are in trouble. If they keep stopping the Falcons for fgs, they'll win. The falcons are a bad football team regardless and why I'll press the panic button if we go 0-2 and then lose to them. Shit, I'd probably be concerned if we beat WFT and then go on to lose to them at home on ten days rest.
Me? No. I'm normal. Unlike those hipster loser Giant fans who are gleeful when the Eagles do well or win ... or defend other human waste who cheer on the Eagles. F the Eagles - ( New Window )
much. Literally just heard him say there was no window when Allen was open by two yards. Great anticipation on the throw, but Jesus.
They can't be worst than the Browns announcers. Those guys were so absurdly over the top homers that I couldn't listen to it.
I mean that was an exception not a rule. The NFL has national teams, but its getting clear to me they have narratives that come from up top that they want to hammer in early.
Big Ben looks fucking cooked, the Steelers are going to be bad this year unless their defense can carry the whole team.
about Ben R, at least so far. He can't move at all. Of course all but one of his OL are new, and I think two are rookies. Buffalo has also an excellent defense.
It's pretty funny that DJ wasn't some ridiculous outlier on fumbles last year, but that people act like he's just a walking timebomb out there. I swear these people don't watch a ton of other games and realize QBs fumble, and a lot. There's 3 QB fumbles already in that Steelers Bills game.
Yeah, but the Steelers are paying him $14M IIRC to play this year.
With the restructure in 2021, Roethlisberger reduced his $19 million in salary and roster bonus to $14 million in total. The Steelers also added 4 void years to the deal, which will spread the $12.95 million signing bonus across 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Roethlisberger will have a $10.4 million cap hit in 2022 when those void years accelerate onto the cap. Therefore, Roethlisberger has a $25.9 million cap hit in 2021.
You're a liar! Robert Saleh is the greatest young HC in NFL history. His decision to go with Mike White as Wilson's backup despite also having never thrown a pass in an NFL game is brilliant. They don't need a veteran mentor.

That's what Spotrac says, and they're pretty accurate. The problem is what's their alternative? Mason Rudolph?
with the clock. They should have ran the ball on 3rd and goal when you are so far out and take the 3 pt differential. Now it's a wash.
Bosa with a bonehead roughing penalty...and then the DC decides to go prevent to give up two easy completions to allow them into FG range smh
If Heineke actually makes that throw McLauren might have scored a TD. They should have never even had the ball. In a lower scoring game, make sure you get the 3 pt differential and go up a TD in halftime. I think Judge runs the ball in that situation personally on that 3rd and goal (I imagine to the bitching of many here)
I don't know how Hurts is playing well given her hasn't reached 3 years of experience yet.
You don't know? He has players around him that are making plays. Now you know...and knowing is half the battle.
He made plenty of plays himself. Kid is a winner.
I mean...he has 2 TD throws...one was a pick play and the other should have been overturned. He has extended plays and made a few good passes...against possibly the worst defense in the NFL..
I don't know how Hurts is playing well given her hasn't reached 3 years of experience yet.
This guy turns off the tv when the giants are winning. Was probably yelling at the refs for a holding call on the tyree catch in ‘07. As Michael Caine said in the Dark Knight “ Some men just want to watch the world burn”
Why do you even bother coming here? Most miserable person I ever met. Always has to be right and shits on the Giants.

Nothing really has been because of Hurts at QB. You could have Teddy Bridgewater back there and Philly O would be in the same place. Biggest issue is Atlanta’s pass rush isn’t getting there and their DB’s are bad.
The Falcons will have a very high pick in next year's draft
I don't know how Hurts is playing well given her hasn't reached 3 years of experience yet.

Great throw by Herbert, but why even throw it? Dude was blanketed

That last throw was a TD drop, but when you throw into coverage and the DB gets his arm in the basket, that is not a drop. Who the hell is announcing this game, Herberts Dad?

That's what he's become. He is obviously just trying to instigate. The guy who said that Jones hasn't shown anything, completely ignoring his 24 TD rookie season, is now praising Jalen Hurts versus arguably the worst defense in the NFL.
Announcers can definetly skew what people think they are seeing

RE: RE: I guess Herberts release isn’t quick enough
That is twice in the Falcons. The first one was at around the 35, so that would have been a long field goal, but that was automatic three. Maybe giving up 6 points come backs and bites them in the butt.
RE: Announcers can definetly skew what people think they are seeing
When the college game I was watching (OSU/OR) was cut off here due to the start of the CU/TAM game yesterday, I went to Fox Sports online to watch the remainder of the game. When I first went on there, the broadcast was just a live broadcast of the play on the field, no announcers, just crowd noise and the PA announcer. And you know what, it was GREAT!!! Nice to not have an announcer screaming at me telling me what was going on (no offense to Gus Johnson, I actually like his broadcasts a lot) for a while, just like being there without all the negative crap that goes with that. Wish there was an option to watch a game like that all the time.
The Chargers threw this game away at half when didn't run a quick
They should be after the past decade. What I do care about is the same people posting the same things every fucking day in threads that have nothing to do with Gettleman or Jones. We understand how they feel as they've said it 1,000 times. We don't need to see the same stupid arguments in every damn thread.

THANK YOU!!! I will never understand putting forth so much negative energy seemingly 24 hours a day about stuff that you have NO ability to control!!!! You dont like what your seeing, then dont frigging watch! Go do something else, go for a walk, go hang with your kids, live your life, find some happiness. But to constantly rail about DG/Jones/DG/Jones every day for YEARS...nothing positive at all about that, its just annoying.
I thought there was no running into the kicker anymore and it's only

There's just something weird I can't put my finger on about CBS
Terps is a consistent poster, keeps it about football, never gets personal or nasty, and has been effusively positive and negative about polarizing players.
He was one of the most positive and supportive posters on this board when much of the place wanted to sack Manning. He was one off the most prescient on this board regarding Beckham.
When he was wrong about Strahan at the end of his career, he didn’t hide from that.
He’s not trolling anyone, and he never makes up facts or makes up observations.
Boo hoo. He’s down on the Giants because they’ve sucked forever.
If Daniel Jones goes and crushes it, he’ll be happy for Jones, not be thinking about any of you.

Funny, I've seen at least one BBIer insist they are an optimist, as they predict like 5 wins. Allllrighty. Maybe that word doesn't mean what you think it does.
Didn't you see what just happened to Terps?!? You're now going to be called miserable and crotchety by a bunch of folks who apparently consider themselves calm and level-headed.
RE: The QB play in some of these games is subpar...
So he was worth giving up Toney and the Bears 1st and 4th round picks next year?
Of course it was! Because after one game we know how NFL careers turn out. Don't you know that by now? I mean we have people here that already think KT is a bust.
I agree with that as well and it's why you take the extra first-round pick unless you are convinced the guy is going to you are skipping on at 11 is going to be an all pro or something (but then he probably wouldn't be available at 11)
I keep forgetting that Gettleman has endlessly told us - despite so many moves to the contrary - that we are good on the OL. Thus, we wouldn't need a top OL prospect like Slater.
an OLINE? It's the one thing that is keeping Hurts and Eagles playing well. period.
You ain't wrong. I'm not a DG hater...but if the OLine doesn't perform this year after all we have invested in it...probably time for new blood in the FO
Giants will go into next year with a 5th year RB, 4th year QB, and vet pass catchers. Getting the OL settled, and the development done this year would have been a great investment. Yes, getting 2 high pedigree lineman in place would have been worth not doing the trade.
I don't think anyone should be overreacting to what the Chargers
front is doing today tbh. That WFT front looked baby shit soft in preseason. I feel like Chase Young is one of those guys they are putting in the HOF before he's earned it. Our very own AT (who sucks I've heard) snuffed him out.
I think the WFT defense is due for a bit of regression and were the benefactors of some really favorable scheduling last year.

Haven't invested much... I think that's the problem.

Of course we needed Toney. I mean, we only signed Golladay, Rudolph, and Ross in free agency. So we definitely needed more receivers...

My bad.
Haha great way to twist words. We asked if he was worth Toney, a 5th this year, and a 1st and 4th next year and somehow that equates to us saying that Gettleman fixed the OL? This is exactly the type of idiotic comments that drive me crazy.

So are you saying they should have nixed the trade offer from Chicago that got them an extra first round selection next year and stayed where they were and selected the guard????? Really??? I liked Slater a lot, and he would have been my selection at 11, but ill take that extra 1st rounder all day. NOW, as far as taking Toney where they did....in wait and see mode on that. Slater was the OL I wanted, but he was gone. I was a Kwity Paye man at that spot, but again, lets wait and see.
I don't know if the Chargers front is this impressive or the WFT
Are we allowed to start asking if chase young is actually good? His workout videos are really impressive. Ask a WFT fan and they’ll tell you it’s because he’s triple teamed on every play

So they shouldn't have drafted Toney because they signed John Ross to a 1 year prove it deal and a 31 year old TE Rudolph to a 2 year deal? Yes Golladay is the #1 WR but you think it's wise to bet on John Ross stepping up and becoming a playmaking #2 WR? The Giants WR Corps was the worst in the NFL going into the offseason so adding Toney to the others was hardly a waste of resources.
Let's just say the Giants did take Slater instead of trading down. What would you do then if Jones doesn't prove himself this season? Now you're left without a huge asset to move up to get his replacement especially if Thomas proves himself as a solid LT.
By converting on 3rd and 7, but I don't get why more teams don't call time outs when on defense in that situation. Your offense has a lot more control over the clock... I feel it's better to have few TO's remaining when you're on offense than when on D.

Right and they lost Kerrigan who is a tremendous guy to have come in and spell. I think Sweat and Young are probably overrated.
Eagles haven't looked this good since the first quarter

Yes. And Slater is playing T, btw.
But he can also play G and C.
Yeah, I get that. And again, I LOVED the kid....but did I love him more than an extra 1st round pick next year??? Dont think so...
would have taken the trade down with the Bears instead of Slater. I'm just not sure about taking Toney at #20. In any event, my sense was the Giants would have taken AVT if they had stayed at #11.
of the WFT last season before they started tanking.
Im usually one who tries to respect the opponent at all times, but......its the Falcons. They have had and, according to my Falcons buddy, continue to have major issues on defense. Im sure Hurts is improved and obviously Smith is gonna help a lot, but not ready to call them an offensive juggernaut just yet.

Depending on what the Giants look like, the NFC East stinks again this
So the Giants shouldn’t shore up their offensive line because Jones hasn’t proven himself?
How about the Giants shore up the offensive line so Jones can prove himself.
At some point dance with the girl you brought to prom.
DG hasn't a clue how to build a line despite all his bluster. And to be honest I'm a little skeptical of Joe Judge if he thought a 5th rounder was a starting caliber RT.

We paid KG to be the #1 WR. So that gave us KG, Shep and Slayton. Toss in EE and Rudolph, plus the return of SB, and those are a good basket of weapons.
And since Slater can play EVERY position on the OL, his value is exceedingly > than Toney's.
If Jones is poor this year, we'll very likely get a high pick anyway. True?

Drafting skill positions early without a line never works. Odell went 12 overall and is probably twice the player as KT yet Giants won 0 playoff games with Odell. This year will look and feel a lot like 2014.

I would not root for this scenario. DG will be gone but so will Joe Judge and DJ. Complete restart.. again.
the reports of the Steelers and BR's demise may be highly exaggerated right now...
Wake me up if Ben is winning in December, he is toast. He was underthrowing balls all over the place down the field and they were able to generate a lot of penalty flags because they were getting beat so bad. That won't work against good defenses. The Bills threw that game away. Allen shouldn't have throw the ball 51 times today.

I would not root for this scenario. DG will be gone but so will Joe Judge and DJ. Complete restart.. again.
I think they would keep Judge for one more term but agree with the rest
the reports of the Steelers and BR's demise may be highly exaggerated right now...
The Bills aren't a good D? Especially at home?
Look, I'm not going to put the cart before the horse here, but this is an EXCELLENT win for the Steelers. The Bills are a very popular pick to represent the AFC in the SB.

Watch the Jets rookie QB at 1pm.

Is that new for the year, or just an opening week thing?

Second drive coming up.
you may be moist, I'm seeing brown.
Falcons defense is absolute trash. They better start scoring some TDs.
Seemed like the run route got him open

Yeah wouldn’t call that an impressive route, impressive play call
Yep it was more the play or Ertz than Smith
That was a semi-pick play more than a great move.
Me? No. I'm normal. Unlike those hipster loser Giant fans who are gleeful when the Eagles do well or win ... or defend other human waste who cheer on the Eagles.

I think it was more like 1a/1b with him and Lawrence, but the guy is in a great situation for a rookie QB there.
It's not like the Giants passed on Smith.
Also after all the Wilson hype it's enjoyable to see him start 1/6 for 7 yards.
Yeah. That really is stupid.

That offense is solid, generally when you are picked that high you are headed to a dumpster fire.
Well designed or is the Falcons defense that bad? I lean the latter

More concerning is the Falcons keep stalling out in the redzone. You have Pitts, use him.

Little of both I think.
I imagine he's getting redzone looks, he'll be a weapon down there for sure.
I am hoping Fletcher continues to show his age. Great career but I think it may be winding down with a few others from that team.
They can't be worst than the Browns announcers. Those guys were so absurdly over the top homers that I couldn't listen to it.

The majority of that defense is getting old. Fletcher Cox, Graham, Kerrigan, Slay, Anthony Harris, and McLeod are 30 or older.

I mean that was an exception not a rule. The NFL has national teams, but its getting clear to me they have narratives that come from up top that they want to hammer in early.
Big Ben looks fucking cooked, the Steelers are going to be bad this year unless their defense can carry the whole team.
Is that his second fumble? Putting Jones to shame.

Yeah, but the Steelers are paying him $14M IIRC to play this year.

It's a shame Joe Douglas hasn't yet figured out how to bring playmakers of that caliber to NYJ.
It's ok it's only one game. It doesn't mean anything but Andrew Thomas is a bust because he struggled in one half of a preseason game.

Lord you r insufferable
Jones had excellent games in his rookie year but you never gave him the credit for it so shove your sarcasm.

Nothing really has been because of Hurts at QB. You could have Teddy Bridgewater back there and Philly O would be in the same place. Biggest issue is Atlanta’s pass rush isn’t getting there and their DB’s are bad.
You might be right, he just marched down with a TD

That is twice in the Falcons. The first one was at around the 35, so that would have been a long field goal, but that was automatic three. Maybe giving up 6 points come backs and bites them in the butt.

I agree with that as well and it's why you take the extra first-round pick unless you are convinced the guy is going to you are skipping on at 11 is going to be an all pro or something (but then he probably wouldn't be available at 11)

Haha great way to twist words. We asked if he was worth Toney, a 5th this year, and a 1st and 4th next year and somehow that equates to us saying that Gettleman fixed the OL? This is exactly the type of idiotic comments that drive me crazy.

Actually, I did answer your question earlier. That would require paying attention...
+2. Beating Buffalo on their home field is awesome.

Giants will go into next year with a 5th year RB, 4th year QB, and vet pass catchers. Getting the OL settled, and the development done this year would have been a great investment. Yes, getting 2 high pedigree lineman in place would have been worth not doing the trade.
Of course we needed Toney. I mean, we only signed Golladay, Rudolph, and Ross in free agency. So we definitely needed more receivers...
Agree that Herbert does make it look easy...
Are we allowed to start asking if chase young is actually good? His workout videos are really impressive. Ask a WFT fan and they’ll tell you it’s because he’s triple teamed on every play

Yes. And Slater is playing T, btw.
But he can also play G and C.
2019: 7th round
2020: 1st, 3rd, 5th round
2021: 0

Right and they lost Kerrigan who is a tremendous guy to have come in and spell. I think Sweat and Young are probably overrated.
How about the Giants shore up the offensive line so Jones can prove himself.
At some point dance with the girl you brought to prom.

2020: 1st, 3rd, 5th round

I am okay with not spending a lot of draft capital on the OL if you are taking care of those needs via free agency.... with qualify free agents.

Yeah, I get that. And again, I LOVED the kid....but did I love him more than an extra 1st round pick next year??? Dont think so...
Here you go. Herbert is good. His OLine is good. His WRs are great.
On a side note. I liked Jay Feely as an analyst.
Not me. He looks to be the goods...
I think the front 7 from WFT without Kerrigan is now massively overrated.
Giants have one free agent lineman on the roster, and one understated free agent.

Oh the Falcons are absolute dogshit. Tell your friend I'm sorry

True?

Yeah, he has been a fan since 1972....he is immune to bad Falcons teams at this point. He's been there...numerous times.

If the Giants are bad this year they might have a new GM and two high draft picks (Bears 1st rounder)

their evaluation of Herbert's play today?
Here you go. Herbert is good. His OLine is good. His WRs are great.
Seriously...did you see some of those throws JH made today? I mean, that's just a world class arm. And he's a great, great athlete...

But his stat line sucked (I"m told thats why DJ is terrible)

Drafting skill positions early without a line never works. Odell went 12 overall and is probably twice the player as KT yet Giants won 0 playoff games with Odell. This year will look and feel a lot like 2014.

I would not root for this scenario. DG will be gone but so will Joe Judge and DJ. Complete restart.. again.

The Bills aren't a good D? Especially at home?
Look, I'm not going to put the cart before the horse here, but this is an EXCELLENT win for the Steelers. The Bills are a very popular pick to represent the AFC in the SB.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Which isn't unusual, btw.
But I'm all ears why I am talking out of both sides of my mouth on this?
