So he was worth giving up Toney and the Bears 1st and 4th round picks next year?
Of course it was! Because after one game we know how NFL careers turn out. Don't you know that by now? I mean we have people here that already think KT is a bust.
I agree with that as well and it's why you take the extra first-round pick unless you are convinced the guy is going to you are skipping on at 11 is going to be an all pro or something (but then he probably wouldn't be available at 11)
I keep forgetting that Gettleman has endlessly told us - despite so many moves to the contrary - that we are good on the OL. Thus, we wouldn't need a top OL prospect like Slater.
an OLINE? It's the one thing that is keeping Hurts and Eagles playing well. period.
You ain't wrong. I'm not a DG hater...but if the OLine doesn't perform this year after all we have invested in it...probably time for new blood in the FO
Giants will go into next year with a 5th year RB, 4th year QB, and vet pass catchers. Getting the OL settled, and the development done this year would have been a great investment. Yes, getting 2 high pedigree lineman in place would have been worth not doing the trade.
I don't think anyone should be overreacting to what the Chargers
front is doing today tbh. That WFT front looked baby shit soft in preseason. I feel like Chase Young is one of those guys they are putting in the HOF before he's earned it. Our very own AT (who sucks I've heard) snuffed him out.
I think the WFT defense is due for a bit of regression and were the benefactors of some really favorable scheduling last year.

Haven't invested much... I think that's the problem.

Of course we needed Toney. I mean, we only signed Golladay, Rudolph, and Ross in free agency. So we definitely needed more receivers...

Let me know when Chris Mara and Tim McDonnell are gone

My bad.
Haha great way to twist words. We asked if he was worth Toney, a 5th this year, and a 1st and 4th next year and somehow that equates to us saying that Gettleman fixed the OL? This is exactly the type of idiotic comments that drive me crazy.

Actually, I did answer your question earlier. That would require paying attention...

So are you saying they should have nixed the trade offer from Chicago that got them an extra first round selection next year and stayed where they were and selected the guard????? Really??? I liked Slater a lot, and he would have been my selection at 11, but ill take that extra 1st rounder all day. NOW, as far as taking Toney where they did....in wait and see mode on that. Slater was the OL I wanted, but he was gone. I was a Kwity Paye man at that spot, but again, lets wait and see.
I don't know if the Chargers front is this impressive or the WFT
Are we allowed to start asking if chase young is actually good? His workout videos are really impressive. Ask a WFT fan and they’ll tell you it’s because he’s triple teamed on every play

So they shouldn't have drafted Toney because they signed John Ross to a 1 year prove it deal and a 31 year old TE Rudolph to a 2 year deal? Yes Golladay is the #1 WR but you think it's wise to bet on John Ross stepping up and becoming a playmaking #2 WR? The Giants WR Corps was the worst in the NFL going into the offseason so adding Toney to the others was hardly a waste of resources.
Let's just say the Giants did take Slater instead of trading down. What would you do then if Jones doesn't prove himself this season? Now you're left without a huge asset to move up to get his replacement especially if Thomas proves himself as a solid LT.

He should have been the pick this year.
You don't turn down deals like the one we had. Thats short-term thinking at the expense of long-term games. It's been one game as well.
Agreed especially because it's been one game.

Damn. You beat me to the punch. He's been very solid all day. It's one of the reasons I am watching this game...

Just incredible these posters Jay. Will he return triumphantly when the young man slater struggles the following week.
ame...

I'd feel a helluva lot better heading into this year with Slater on the OL. He'd probably be our best OL right now.
So - yes.

The Falcons are a terrible football team, they are what we were 3 years ago.

Don't worry...a laser by Herbert.

+2. Beating Buffalo on their home field is awesome.

Yes. And Slater is playing T, btw.
But he can also play G and C.
2019: 7th round
2020: 1st, 3rd, 5th round
2021: 0
