Gamethreads are a freaking Joke....

John In CO : 9/12/2021 5:52 pm
Dont know how any fan who is not a 1000% pessimist would even go there. I looked in real quick....and got the hell out. Pretty sure there are prisoners on death row who have a more positive outlook on life than some of the idiots in that thread. Its a football game people....and a close game at that. We wait all offseason to watch a damn game that is supposed to be entertainment only to be completely miserable and for 3 hours. Unreal.

But no, let's bitch about how fans are mad on the game thread.

I’ve read the game threads for 20 years, and I didn’t think today’s was that negative. I think it took a turn for the negative when Jones coughed up the ball.

The Accorsi Giants never had a stretch this bad. The fan base is itchy.

This was me. I was pretty calm but man that garbage fumble really pissed me off. Same old shit and people think turning the ball over is nothing to worry about. Boring.

The supposed intelligence of any fanbase is directly proportionate to the success the team is having.

It’s easy to discuss playing well. It’s quite another story when you are a perennial door mat.

The Giants got clubbed like a baby seal today. I am curious why today is the day to be criticizing the negativity of some fans.

Don't be dumb.

If you read the game thread, fans were acting like we were losing 30-3 when the score was 7-3 Giants and 10-7 Broncos.

Any reasonable football fan expected that kind of game heading into this contest.

The roof collapsed in the second half, but the "fans" had already abandoned the team when it was 10-7.

It is more than that. There are people who truly do not understand the game. There are people who must be watching a different game based upon their comments. There are also people who are not happy unless they are bitching and complaining.

The team is bad and we knew that going into the season. I dont understand why people set much higher expectations and then find themselves pissed off and complaining on a game thread.... like it is a surprise.

That's not it. This has got absolutely nothing to do with being happy about bitching and complaining. You're just making that weird idea up in your own head.

Yesterday's "performance" left me anything but happy. You could figure it out yourself that maybe people are tired of watching the same bullshit year after year. Why would a Giants fan be happy the team sucks?

This was a winnable game and the Giants came out once again, awful. Coaching, poor play, bad play calling.

So let me get this right, the team is bad , that's a given and then when they play bad, you "you shouldve known better" and can't vent your frustrations on a message board.

These posts are stranger than the worst ones on the game thread.

I was fine on the game thread and got annoyed at the Jones fumble and play calling but at the same time IDC if someone is ranting or whatever during a game That's their choice.

Don't like it? Stay off them and watch the games at the bar.

If anything you shouldn't be surprised how game threads are. It's not as if BBI hasn't been around for 20 plus years ...
Good post on another thread 🧵

And then they come out and lay a big steaming turd like this at home, against a mediocre team, and people aren't supposed to get angry? The hell with that.

I find the lion’s share of posters who are regularly positive to be less informed and less analytical than those who are regularly negative.

I have a hard time equating positivity with sharp observation.

I tend to think those that think like me are sharp thinkers as well, although there is always that side of me that consistently reminds me that I could very well be mistaken, and probably am in some way, whether small or large.

First... I did not create this thread so I am not surprised at all by the game threads and how they are. You should have directed your last point to the OP.

My point is NOT that we should not be upset that the team did not play well... but that anyone is surprised. To allow yourself to get so worked up over a predictable performance from a bad football team is a problem for you. The Denver game was a winnable game in YOUR mind and you did some kind of twisted football math in your head and told yourself we were better than them before kickoff.

What bothers "ME" on the game threads is the complete lack of knowledge about the game of football by so many people who talk out of their ass. Maybe I should not be surprised and that is my fault for coming into a game thread thinking something will be different... but it has gotten worse over the past couple of years.
There was no difference in this game thread versus any other
chick310 : 9/13/2021 8:04 am : link
one that I have seen on here, particularly in a loss. If you think differently, you should go into the archive and pull up the one in the loss to Arizona last season.

I seldom go on NYG game threads because the intelligent factor absolutely goes down versus other threads. But mostly because the knee-jerk reactions and fan emotions are at their highest levels. Every now and then I do join in on one, and it takes no time whatsoever to realize it's not a good place to be.

And when it was a 3 point deficit at halftime, with the Broncos receiving the ball to start the second half, did you have any confidence that the Giants would win the game?

At around Thanksgiving of 2007, I had no confidence that the Giants would make the playoffs.

This is both a statement and question:

I probably didn't either. On the other hand, that team had made the playoffs in the two previous seasons, so there was much more reason to be hopeful that they would turn it around than that this team will pull a 180.

So this is a case in point. You ended up being right, but in the NFL, a three point game at halftime and you're waving the white flag?

The game thread was no doubt littered with posters crying the season is over.

That's it Christian -- I'm pissed! How dare you diss my fence sitting. It's hard to sit on a fence, very uncomfortable!

Many moons ago I was a card carrying apologist for everything the team did. I spent a good number of hours praising the Eli Apple pick — in 2018.
Probably many reasons for it
ghost718 : 9/13/2021 10:35 am : link
but I'll say this.Maybe if the Giants didn't sell their a fan base a pile of horseshit the size of Metlife. The reaction wouldn't be quite as bad.

Just about everyone who gets in front of a mic turns into a hype man, starting with the coach.

I believe the Jones fumble occured when it was Broncos 17-7. I still thought the game was within reach at that point when the Giants were driving but after that fumble happened I would've bet my entire family and the house that the Giants wouldn't win and the game was over. The fumble was late in the 3rd. I just stopped paying attention and went to BBI for all of the ranting and ranting about ranting.
Yes Gamethreads are a joke
Essex : 9/13/2021 11:04 am : link
but the complete theory that we were going to be good because Joe Judge can give good press conferences and go 6-10 (when we expected four wins) and we can bank our entire future according to the anti-game thread crowd is totally rational. You can't make this up.
If gamethreads are a joke then stay off of them… it’s that simple
Rick in Dallas : 9/13/2021 11:21 am : link
Giant fans are very passionate and are sick and tired of shitty football and a owner who could care less about winning.
Maybe we should be bashing the Mara’s and their lack of football knowledge then the fans who vent their frustration watching this garbage.

Not too long ago, we had great threads on dissecting the stupid comments on the game threads.

Yes they have always been like this as long as I remember.

The word “freaking”.

The joke is the product on the field. Fans have a right to be upset and reactionary - this team hasn’t won the NFC East in 10 years, only one playoff appearance and they just looked listless in a winnable game at home.
