There is no gameplan. No strategy. No identity. You want to be a hard nosed running team? Fine! Get Penny in there, put Saquon behind him and run up the ass of Gates and Hernandez. Then gey saquon in a deep set and run power behind Thomas.
Do it 35 times a game for all i care.
But when you try these weak shotgun runs, it does NOTHING for the OL.
you bring KT in and run jet motion for the first time ever and hand it to him? Like they DIDNT have their eyes peeled to him? Same with then bubble a few plays later
Like, come on?

There is no offensive plan if the O-line sucks.
The offensive line was pass blocking fun. They tried to force the run for no reason when it wasn’t working.
Where were the rollouts? Where were the RPOs? Where were the things Jones does well?
Turning him into Eli Manning/Kerry Collins is foolish since he isn’t them!!
Teams will continue to stack the box until Jones proves he can lead this team. Other than the long completion Jones was very accurate IMO. Our receivers & backs made some great catches. For Jones sake I hope we win Thursday because as I’ve said many times the pressure is going to just continue to build and I don’t think he’ll handle it.
look like Brady in his prime out there practically the entire game. The defense...the supposed strength of this team. Jesus Christ.
Great to know the OL is still a complete and utter disaster. Last year, they were at least able to run-block decently for Gallman. They couldn't block for shit today and somehow looked even worse.
Shurmur made Graham look bad today. I know Shurmur is actually a good OC, but good grief. Their offense was rolling pretty much non-stop today.
I didn't have high hopes coming into this season. But I did think we would win today. Today was a complete disaster in every aspect; coaching, players. We made the Broncos look like a great team...and they're really not. Especially without Chubb and Jeudy out for the entire second half.
1. I believe JG is Mara’s choice and Judge is stuck with him
2. Mara thinks the sun shines out of Barkley’s ass. Not only won’t he be traded, Mara is going to give him a pile of money to hang around.
This team is so screwed it’s laughable. the Wilderness years - redux

You can scheme around this. There is plenty of talent on this OL. Ots not that hard but y9u cant be trying to fit square pegs in round holes
defense was on the field a long time for the same two reasons in so many past seasons: (1) we can't generate pass rush without blitzing, and (2) the offense can't move the ball.
I learned that our management/defensive coaches greatly underestimated
defense was on the field a long time for the same two reasons in so many past seasons: (1) we can't generate pass rush without blitzing, and (2) the offense can't move the ball.
After this debacle, it got me thinking. When was the last time I turned on a Giants game and expected a win? It had to have been what, 2016? 5 years ago? Look around the league and see how many teams have done complete rebuilds in that period. The same issue that afflicted Eli's tail end of his career- terrible Oline play and absolutely no pass rush- continues to haunt this team five years later. It's mind numbingly frustrating. Clearly, Mara needs to get out of his own way and delegate a non-Ernie Accorsi football person to fix this mess that he is culpable for.
But your driving and have a chance for a TD after a good drive and you fumble. TD maybe changes the momentum down 6. Instead it deflates the team.
The D was the big issue today but I and fear the team has the feeling that it’s only a matter of time before he screws up.
I think Garrett gets Thursdays game but if it is another stinker you may need a change to create a sense of urgency.
I believe Graham will gets things in order on D.
DJ didn't look great in the red zone there in the Q4 and he whiffed a bunch of passes in the first half. The hero ball is a little irritating knowing the kind of weapons we have and yet DJ has to scramble up the middle and almost get his block knocked off more than once.
RE: Not nice dumping on Barkely in his first game back

We killed Reese for years for taking skill position over line in the draft. And what was Gettleman's very first pick with #2 overall??? Saquon was a luxury pick that this team could not afford. Now a WR in 2021. In my mind Gettleman is just an extension of the Reese era. The priorities on this team have been mismanaged since Reese - even though ironically we won the Superbowl his first year but that wasn't a team he built.
The only thing I am confident should change for the better
is the D. All aspects? No. But, the overall level or play and outcome, because they played better than this last year under Graham and they have added talent. But, pass rush is still a problem, as is their zone coverage. Someone here said Banks seemed to think the playcalling on D was sound, but the execution poor. I'm not sure about that, but he certainly knows a lot more than me, so I'll hope he's correct. At least that would be correctable.
They looked like shit. Hopefully things get better. Denver looked like world beaters today.
I watch a lot of these games on tape delay. A hallmark of the Gettleman Era is fast forwarding through a lot of the second half and catching the fourth quarter of the Sunday Night Game. It really sucks.
It seems like hyperbole or an exaggeration, but you are right. They have started 0-2 or worse how many years in a row now? They are not nearly a good enough team to overcome that.
I’d just like to say, my main takeaway from today was
The Giants were in position a few times today to come up with a big play or big stop that could have given them an edge in the game and they just didn’t make any of those plays. Even in games where a team loses by 2 or 3 scores, there are just a few moments/plays where a team needs to step up and make the better play than the opposing team, and the Giants didn’t do that today. They weren’t entirely outmatched, but they didn’t make those plays is the point……….. the problem is— it’s now been 5 years that I’ve felt this way. It’s like they’re always a play or 2 away from being … a play or 2 away. They don’t score in the red zone, they don’t stop teams on 3rd and 4th downs, and they don’t make the key plays in the games that are required to win. It’s one thing to say “well they’re just a few plays away” but teams are always just a few plays away in the NFL. It’s a game of inches and the differences in talent are minimal. But that’s always going to be the case and you’re going to almost always come up short in those moments if you don’t have the better players on the field than the other team.
We’re oh so close yet so far away. We’ve been “oh so close” for a few years now. No more moral victories. If we get another 6-10 -ish year then it’s time for a shakeup. I personally think it should be a shakeup in general management. And I would allow Judge to have some input (or at least more input than Ernie Accorsi. I think Judge does like working with DG, but he’s also the type of guy who’s very positive and likely willing to try to make the best of a situation. I don’t see him as the guy going behind DG’s back and telling Mara to can DG. Therefore— it had to be Mara who makes the adult decision to move on from DG. He can say to Judge: look, you can have input in the direction we go in terms of General Management, but it’s NOT going to be DG next year.
Dude. You are spot on about Jones. He isn't the answer.
What kills me is that the Giants have had opportunities to bring in FA QBs who could actually potentially compete with Jones and supplant him if necessary. Them not doing so seems almost deliberate.

Agreed. That's why I got so upset last year with all the moral victory posts last year. That was BS last year and this game is why. Where did all those so-called moral victories get us? Did we look like a better team? Did we win a winnable game at home?
Fuck moral victories. It's been nearly a decade of shit. I don't want moral victories. I want real victories. This game was not pretty, but it was very much a game for a long while. The Giants just never took advantage of that.
Dude. You are spot on about Jones. He isn't the answer.
What kills me is that the Giants have had opportunities to bring in FA QBs who could actually potentially compete with Jones and supplant him if necessary. Them not doing so seems almost deliberate.
Of course it was deliberate. Jones is on scholarship.
Bridgewater had his career best game today. Is he a 90% completion quarterback? Whether he threw the ball with a blitzer bearing down on him, or whether he threw the ball on the run moving away from the line of scrimmage, he could NOT throw an incompletion.
When you get old, there are times when you see things better than the "expert," just because you've been watching the game for 60 years. Picking Barclay was always going to be a mistake. You don't pick a fragile luxury offensive skill player when you can't block for him, or for your quarterback, and you don't have a player on defense that other teams fear.
After sleeping on it...good Lord does this organization blow. We should thank God each night Rozelle stepped in & handed us GY because we could be looking at Lions level incompetence since the early '60s if not for that.
Just disgusted with the performance yesterday. Disgusted. And totally expecting us to be 0-2 in less than 96 hours. YAY!
a game as I could've imagined. I still can't believe they ran that reverse to Toney after the bomb to Slayton. Football is not a complicated game, that playcall was inexcusable, a this offensive system is God Awful. Again, it looked like our receivers were blanketed all day.
To get clobbered by a mediocre DEN team with the crowd as amped up as possible?
Jones looked like he made zero progress, the D couldn't stop Teddy Bridgewater & Barkley looking cooked off the ACL. Even Toney looked like he had zero moves on that swing pass.
Fascinating how disastrous it was. This team had very little rope with me, and I imagine with all Giants fans.
It was awful. There's no silver linings. The only hope is With Golladay, Barkley, Toney they all are rusty and they all needed reps.
Complaining about the play calling, how about the players execute the damn play.
I know! This whole blaming Garret is laughable. I didn't notice anything particularly bad about the plays. Just the execution was not there. The Giants are a bad football team and have been before Garret.
Does anyone remember the Mcadoo years. The same formation and personel packages 92% of the time (or whatvers it was). It was like I was watching high school footbal plays. And Garret is to blame for this because Jones/barkley can't play. So you want to roll him out and run an rpo every down?
I’ve been to a lot of sporting events for the teams
I root for and what I witnessed today was among the 2 or 3 worst performances I’ve ever seen. The Giants just flat out sucked. The Broncos were disrespecting them with their 4th down attempts and the Giants couldn’t do anything about it. While Jones will get bashed (rightfully so) and Jason Garrett needs to be shot into the fucking sun, the defense was absolutely horrendous. If they hadn’t forced the turnover near the goal line, they would’ve been run off of the field much earlier. Broncos were WIDE open on third down regardless of distance. The Giants couldn’t get off of the field.
The only positives I took from the game was that the pass protection wasn’t bad and Sterling Shepard.
Jason Garrett has to go NOW!!! There isn’t a single other NFL team that looks this bad offensively even in week one. And Daniel Jones has completely regressed.

They ran between the tackles incessantly. There were too many plays in which no one was open. And most importantly, Daniel Jones actually had good, highly productive games with Pat Shurmur’s offense as a rookie. He literally hasn’t had one game like that in over year under Garrett. Keep in mind, the offensive line sucked with Shurmur so that excuse is out the window. This was the least productive offense in the sport yesterday.
No pass for Garrett.
It's okay to not care about, or even really know about
Problems that cause an offense to get suck in the mud, but don't bother giving the coordinator a pass because of it.
It's not an inventive offense. It's not one that helps a young QB by making it easy to string together completions. It's a very vanilla, predictable, easy to defend passing offense and it shows. Their one wrinkle was throwing out of a bunch formation with a pick play for Sterling on 3rd down and it worked. Then they went back to curls and straights.
Aside from the scheme, the in game management was poor. Nothing from kyle Rudolph. Golladay didn't get involved until late in the game. Toney got two touches and doesn't see the field again. The only guy who had success is Shepard, a man who has always known how to shake coverages and get open and doesn't need help doing it.

Rookie. DC's didn't have a book on Jones. They do now and you see the results.

The Lions actually made an NFC Championship game in 1991. We would be bereft of even that level of "success".
Soft zone coverage
Busted pass coverage
Missed tackles
Lack of pass rush unless the Giants blitzed
Stupid penalties
Denver TE's wide open( have you heard that before)
Unable to get off the field an third and fourth downs(have you heard that before)
We wasted alot of money signing Adoree Jackson. He was plain awful yesterday.
Please play someone other than Holmes as the slot corner.
Do you think this DL misses Tomlinson??? Shelton was terrible yesterday.
Rookie. DC's didn't have a book on Jones. They do now and you see the results.
There are three rookies in the history of the sport with three or more 4+ TD pass games. It doesn’t happen often. “The book” now means they can’t pass for 200 yards regularly, let alone just two TD passes in a game? That’s ridiculous. We literally see none of the flashes we saw his rookie season.
Feel free to pretend Jason Garrett isn’t a major issue though. I’m not absolving Jones of blame or trying to say he’s a great player. But I saw him have great games. I haven’t seen an inkling of that since Jason Garrett became the coordinator.
have a chance before the Giants move on from him without being stuck in Garrett offense. Wish they fired Garrett and gave someone else a chance because this offense has no chance with him in charge
That's what the theme of 2022 will be, don't worry. By 2025 the theme will be that we can't possibly know how good Jones is until he plays with Randy Moss reincarnated.
Negatives: we play again in 4 days

As for Garrett, he is as terrible an offensive coordinator as the Giants have had in a long time.
I'd rather trade draft picks for proven GMs.
Gonna be a long, long season.

And Toney could go either way -- stud within 2 years or on another team in 5 -- and I wouldn't be shocked.

No pass for Garrett.

get a clue how to use our qb , rb and wr's
He doesn't have Matt Stafford, the Rams receivers or a functional running back but sure.
Yes, that ACL/MCL injury really snuck up on everybody in the front office.
They barely had any time to react and consider what else could be done to shore up the Running Back corps in the event Saquon's rehab took a while.
Just disgusted with the performance yesterday. Disgusted. And totally expecting us to be 0-2 in less than 96 hours. YAY!
The Lions actually made an NFC Championship game in 1991. We would be bereft of even that level of "success".
That's what the theme of 2022 will be, don't worry. By 2025 the theme will be that we can't possibly know how good Jones is until he plays with Randy Moss reincarnated.
