THAT was just about the most ominous opening-day loss that BBIers could have ever conceived?
Why?
Because all the terrible things that have been Giants football for a very long time were all front-and-center against Denver.
(1) A pathetic offense that cannot establish any time of possession, nor any rhythm to the game because the offensive line is simply inadequate to the task;
(2) A defense that cannot generate any pass rush unless Patrick Graham dials us some secondary guy crashing the edge, which then exposes our secondary;
(3) A secondary in which this franchise has invested too many draft choices and, yet, can not cover a one-legged turtle over the middle;
(4) A try-hard QB who made some very nice throws, but also -- wait for it -- fumbled the ball for the umpteenth time on a critical series.
I'm not going to say that a loss like today exposes in 3-D detail how abysmal this franchise really is.
But until proven otherwise, this franchise probably needs to be gutted and then rebuilt from the ground floor up.
1964-1980.
That being said, they have a short week to prep for a divisional opponent and better get things worked out right quick.
This was making me livid especially since we keep ignoring what made this Giants team so successful in the past, the trenches on both side of the ball. Giants won 2 freakin Super bowls with having great Dlines & Olines, and the Franchise can't follow the same formula???!
This defense needs edge talent in the worst way. There’s a reason why the Watt’s and Bosa’s of the world get insane contracts.
This entire roster has been rebuilt ass backwards and people wonder why they suck year in year out.
No doubt our defense sucked today and certainly was a factor in the T.O.P.. But the offensive line looked broken, stepped on and then simply defeated on numerous occasions. Just an entire team effort of awful football.
How many times do the Giants get a first down when they start inside their own 5? What about their opponents?
I don't care if it's just the first game. Show me where the team improved over last year. It's not like they were playing a team that went to the Super Bowl last year either.
It's sickening.

Definitely built ass backwards, probably because too many asses are associated with this franchise from top to bottom.

I hear ya! It was, indeed, very sickening and an ominous way to start the season!
VERY OMINOUS.
Now Jones and the O……
Just a deflating 3 hours of shit football up and down this roster and coaching staff.
Unadulterated shit.
Now Jones and the O……
Unfortunately, it's a synergy game. And if the continued lousy play of our o-line prevents us from at least partially controlling the clock, well, then, the defense is going to shatter pretty quickly, especially with no legitimate pass rush!
Now Jones and the O……
The offense didn’t give up an 8 minute drive to start the 2nd half.
This is a soft defense that can’t get a stop or big play when they need it.
I don't think it's a 1-week glitch. But I guess we need to let the season unfold, and then at year's end tally up how many games we were competitive in, and how many games looked like today.
KNEW the Giants didn't do anything off-season to improve their O-line, nor anything to improve their pass rush (save for maybe Ojulari.)
And along with a horrific secondary effort today, you have the reasons for such an abysmal start to what may turn out to be another abysmal season.
A very, very bitter script. And, unfortunately, it seems like one that could have been read even before the first snap of the game.
And we all have the right to be frustrated. Awful performance, and another killer turnover from Jones.
Absolutely. It was like it checked off a list of frustrations from the O Line to not covering a TE.

A game that would have frustrated Giants fans any better than the game played

Yep... just drives me f-ing crazy. Very frustrating!
I had an old friend who is long gone that in the 1970's used to say being a Giant fan is living in hope and dying in despair almost every Sunday. I can't believe we're back to that.
But I'll be ready Thursday night to do it again.
The other point is the middle of the field. That is not an issue with players unable to cover. They were getting beat in the middle on zones.
