This gesture would go a long way with the fans who are sick and tired of this god awful product. Mara clearly hand picked the Garrett hire which seems like a disaster. It seems clear that we’re headed toward another awful season but firing Gettleman and promising an actual search for a qualified GM that doenst involve John Mara promoting someone or Ernie Accorsi hiring a Giants lifer would go a long way
And then when he is fired we will get some retread that the brass is “comfortable with”
And that is why we will continued to be a joke.
Better question is, does Mara have the stones to give the job to someone other than Abrams?
That's the correct question.
The Maras are clueless football wise.
That's the correct question.

He isn't a HOF executive. He's been trash since he's been here he should be fired like any bad executive should be fired.

Yup. Reese didn’t get that treatment, and he is a million times better than Gettleman.
I think he'll retire after the season as well.
I hope this season is not another lost season like the last several, but if it is, you clean house when the season is lost, not when you are 0-1.

How do you watch today’s shit show and not come to that conclusion? If the Giants were run like an actual business and job status was contingent on performance he would have been gone by now

you trust him to handle the trade deadline? He is going to trade draft capital for win now pieces LOL

If you thought Gettleman was the guy for the job at the end of last year and after you let him make all of these off-season moves, you can’t fire him after a single loss. That’s just dumb.

Not if they’re sitting with just 1 or 2 wins by that time.

why does DG get the he will "retire" or "step down" treatment?

He will get to step down because he didn’t undermine his HOF Coach and QB. I really don’t think he cares either way but that is what will happen if it comes to it but he may just say fire me if you don’t want me here.
Who really care what it’s called. I hope he continues to overcome his cancer regardless.
I do think Mara strongly influenced this. The bigger issue is you canned Garrett’s OL coach and Judge picked Sale in addition to moving Kitchens. Quite a half measure as Mike would say.

I don’t trust Gettleman to do anything right. I was on record last year saying they should have fired him at the end of last year. Mara disagreed and kept him. My question is, if you think he deserved another year, why would you fire him after a single game?
And what GM is coming in here after the last guy was fired after week one when the fans were mostly bullish on his off-season moves?
Gettleman should have been let go last year, but wasn’t. He was given this year so you let him have the year. If they are crashing at the trade deadline you obviously don’t let him start trading draft picks for band aids.
