Watching the Eagles yesterday and their OL. They have Seumako, Kelce, Brooks, and Johnson, 6th, 9th, 10th and 11th year players. Pretty easy to rebuild an OL when 4/5ths of it are in place and good players. Same to some extent with their DL. With Cox and Graham.
Not making excuses for DG but the team he got had nothing. That’s just fact. Yes, JPP but that wasn’t the JPP we see now in TB.
Ok, DG missed on his first year but the talent acquisition has been pretty good for the next couple of years. Yet, going into this offseason we still had major needs on the OL, edge and WR. But think about this. Even if every single player we got, including Jones, works out we still have needs on the OL and probably edge. Building a quality starting 22 that includes at least a half dozen top flight players including a franchise QB isn’t easy if you’re starting with an empty roster. And that’s hugely frustrating when it was preceded by years of bad football.
Every year we congratulate Gettleman on his offseason
based on the vets he signs, while ignoring why he has to sign vets. This year we were happy Gettleman signed Golladay and Jackson, but some of us wondered what that says about the hype around Slayton and the multitude of CBs Gettleman has drafted.
Talent acquisition has been awful and then we wonder why the team is bad. He came in here talking tough about "hog mollies" when apparently, he wouldn't know one if it bit him on his butt.

Again with the lame excuses for Mr. Magoo. The Cardinals were 3-13 in 2018, even worse than the Giants. They were the better team last season, two wins better despite playing in a much tougher division, and yesterday they smoked a good Titans team.
Their starting lineup yesterday only had two of the same players on offense (DJ Humphries and Justin Pugh) and one holdover on defense (Chandler Jones). They completely overhauled their lineups on both sides of the ball over three years and they look a helluva lot better than the Giants do right now.

You make a good point. And they are starting Markus Golden! And 32 year old TJ Watt. Plus two 4th round DLs and Simmons and Collins the two no. 1 picks at ILB, 32 year old Kelvin Beachum ex Jet at RT. And a 4th round RB from Fordham!! Their secondary has a couple of 2nd round picks. Their WRs are 33 year old AJ Green and Hopkins the gift from Houston. Serious question. Do you see their starters as really that superior to what we have. Or does Murray make up for the difference. He’s something different.

Additionally, the Cards took their first round pick and threw it in the trash with Rosen. They replaced him with Murray.
The Giants allegedly had Jones as the #1 QB in 2019 as well.

Thats not correct.. JPP was good and he tried his best..but he is a person and part of a Unit where its very critical to rotate the players.. these guys routinely have to push guys 50 lbs heavier than them.. Giants during the last few years of JPP had no depth and outside of 2016, no talent around him to help him out.. and no wonder he looks bad.. His snap counts in the games he played in 2016 were mostly above 95%.. and only once he was below 90% when he wasn't injured.. Compare that to how Tampa utilizes him.. Last year tampa had 10 games where he saw less than 90% of the snaps.. even in the other 6 he was in low 90's.. A DE needs breaks.. otherwise injuries pile up aches pile up cause you can't run into someone 50 lbs heavier than you 60+ times a game and not have it impact you..
My point was simply that overhauling a bad roster can be done
in a few years, with a decent team as a result. This is year four of Dave Gettleman and the Giants don't look any closer to winning than they did the day he was hired.

As simple as that...yet spot on.

I admire that the Cardinals were willing to change direction, including getting rid of Rosen and drafting a different QB that the new coach wanted. That's the best case scenario for the Giants: start over with someone who brings new thinking.
That said, it's one game and the Cards when 8 - 8 last year. Time will tell if Murray is the real deal.
