Offensively Let Jones air it out he throws a very good deep ball and you have one of the better jump ball, agressive receivers in Golladay..
Every play is just blah, you have a very good rb in space, put him in space, get him one on one with a linebacker...
You have a QB that can run, let him run, open up the middle for the RBs with read options..
You have a slot receiver in Shep who can beat a lot of slot corners, let him work the middle, spread the field..
It just doesnt make sense..
Then on defense you have 2 lock down corners in the man to man, why are you playing soft zones on 3rd down? be agressive, if it fails, it fails but at least you are agressive..
You have 3 safeties that are versatile, use them..
I dont know if the edict from Judge was to be conservative but that is not how you win in this league, be agressive and if you lose fine but at least you are trying to win, this trying to lose is ridiculous
Part of it might be the first game and the lack of conditioning to be in true game shape, but some of the things that I saw it was like they were trying to avoid being penalized for putting too big of a hit on the quarterback, then of course we do get called for a hit to the head late in the game when it was basically all the over. And the next play it was.
Not being able to run the ball to take up time of possession on offence and then only relying on fluke plays to be your deep passing office, I agree with you. Shepherd was a great security blanket, but why did it take forever to get Galloway involved?
What the Broncos game planned for was exactly what they got.
How many yards did we average on first down runs? 1? 1.5? Always in the hole.

That was the game IMO.
Look at our running plays. They are so uncoordinated and clumsy looking. People tripping all over eachother, receivers constantly blanketed. Nothing pretty, ever.
You watch other teams effortlessly move the ball, scheme people open etc. This team truly is a pitiful group from the top down.
Jones throws an accurate deep ball and he is mobile
Where were the RPO plays ?
Where were the deep sideline throws, back shoulder throws , crossing patterns, etc.?
If the running game is not working there needs to be alternate means to move the ball
You cannot keep going back to plays that do not work
Let Jones run
Most teams will play to the QBs strength not to a rigid game plan
Could you imagine Lamar Jackson or Kyler Murry in this offense?
I am not saying that Jones is either player what I am saying is that each team developed schemes that played to their respective strengths
And Garrett? They were hell-bent on establishing the run on certain plays, but they were disguising looks and crashing. How bout some read option. Also, why the fuck aren't we taking shots down the field. We have Slayton and Golladay, use your guys.
Everyone is harping on DJ's fumble because it was a key point in the game, but it's unbelieavable unfair to ask for perfect outings from your QB week in week out to have a functioning offense.
I really wish we had a longer week so these guys had a chance to evaluation their mistakes, but I expect mroe bullshit on Thursday and we are going to watch Heineke dink and dunk his way down the field and we see the same exact offense we trotted out week 1. Just need better execution my ass, you aren't even giving your guys a shot.

I consistently make this point. It has been a decade and counting problem. Until the significantly improve first down efficiency the offense and team is going nowhere imv.
On offense its all nickle and dime, vanilla stuff. It seems more geared to not making turnovers and winning the field position battle.
We need to try and win, not try "not to lose".

I'm starting to really get down on the coaching staff in summary
