The Giants haven't been over .500 since. ...2017

Greg from LI : 9/13/2021 10:54 am
Only team in the NFL to do that, according to Pat Traina.
The team hasn't had a winning record since 1/8/2017

when we lost @ GB in the wild card round.

1,708 days. And counting.

A pathetic organization from top to bottom.

Because they've been a terrible team ... since 2017, and before that.
Is it embarrassing?
Silver Spoon : 9/13/2021 11:02 am : link
Is it sad? Does it even matter at this point?
Just give it a few years Greg..

Don’t you realize Gettleman overhauled the entire roster? We should start seeing wins around 2024. “Rome wasn’t built in a day darling”
the 2017 team had a ton of injuries
japanhead : 9/13/2021 11:06 am : link
and a bunch of toxic personalities, and coach slick was in over his head, but i'd argue that team had more overall roster talent than anything gettleman has fielded in 2018, 19 or 20.

based on the way they were manhandled by the broncos yesterday, the 2021 team looks poorly constructed, and the 2021 oft-injured high-dollar FA signings had no impact. Shit, Golladay had one catch through the third quarter.

but it can only get better, right? they can't look worse than they did yesterday, right?
The Giants Lack The Basic Elements...
lax counsel : 9/13/2021 11:06 am : link
To win in this league: a qb who can dissect a defense and push the ball downfield through the air; at least a league average oline, and a consistent pass rush. The results are not overly surprising.
I don't think that is true
Reale01 : 9/13/2021 11:07 am : link
I think we got to 2-2 in Jones first year, but the general point is still valid.

It's boring every week to go into a game and there's a 90% chance they won't be competitive. It is also aggravating how there is NOTHING to show any progress. Not one direction changing play or something positive to steer this team into the right direction. Nothing.

The Seahawks game was the only fun game I can think of since 2016.

That's .500, the comment is about not have a winning record at any point since 2017.
At this point
map7711 : 9/13/2021 11:23 am : link
.500 is winning in my book. I’ll take it all day.
The one constant since then
Dave on the UWS : 9/13/2021 11:24 am : link
is ownership. I HATE to agree with BW and Terps, but when they are right- they're right!
Talking about things going back to 2017 or 2018
Jimmy Googs : 9/13/2021 11:29 am : link
is frowned upon here...
Not allowed to say mean things about a team that doesn't win

Stop treading on positivity.
And I don’t think we will be at any point in 2021…

I found that the Detroit Lions of 1946-49 matched the

Giants steak without a winning record. They have a really good opportunity to take a place in the NFL record books with 5 in a row.

Btw, the first place I looked were the first four seasons of the abysmal expansion Buccaneers. But you know what? The Bucs were a playoff team by their fourth season.

It’s stats like this that imprint you with just how lousy this organization is. The 1946-49 Lions. Sheesh.
Clean house

Top to bottom.
So I just went through the Steelers early history.
cosmicj : 9/13/2021 2:00 pm : link
They were a bottom feeding team in the early NFL. In the years 1938-1941, they won a grand total of 6 games over the four campaigns. Guess what? They had a winning record briefly in that spell.

Today’s Giants are a squad for the ages.
Found one
cosmicj : 9/13/2021 2:05 pm : link
Cleveland Browns 2015-18. No winning record anytime in those four seasons.

Maybe I need to get a life?
the latest in the season they've even been .500 in the past four years
Greg from LI : 9/13/2021 2:08 pm : link
is 2-2 after four weeks in 2019.

1-7 in 2020
2-11 in 2019
1-7 in 2018
1-8 in 2017

If you told me we'd long for the Pat Shurmur giants
Ten Ton Hammer : 9/13/2021 2:12 pm : link
two years ago, I would say you're a crazy person.

Back then the outrage was not giving Barkley enough carries to close out a win against Philly. Now we barely crack 14ppg.
C’mon guys
SomeFan : 9/13/2021 3:12 pm : link
just because it is coming to 4 years without being above .500 and we just lost a home opener in horrible fashion is no reason for pessimism
