- even though he fumbles, jones has to be involved in the run game to have a chance to be successful- even then its not great as his improv is so sh$t
- playing rudolph is such a giants move- smith is also more of a threat. actually signing rudolph was such a stale awful giants move
- Thomas held up well- soldier not so much. I wouldnt give up on thomas at all.
- Jones predetermines, panics, and doesn't make proper adjustments. on the rudolph 3rd down fade im quite certain KG had kareem jackson 1 on 1. no brainer to check into something there. his accuracy on short throws to RBs and others is awful he throws a ball that is hard to catch.
- SS was excellent, the WR can be a v good unit
- how does it take so long to get KG involved? he is a throw me open guy -- that is not hard to get involved.
- Defensively they got beaten on 3rd and 4th down and never made adjustments. Allowing easy "man beaters" in the first half and never adjusting was poor and stubborn
- Barkley didn't show anything- its not surprising but there was a lot of bounce around--- last year gallman had success just hitting the hole.
so overall
- disappointed jones- enough already
- disappointed garrett- was enough before he started
- disappointed defensive adjustments
- disgusted with the old stale guys (rudolph/soldier)
- pleased thomas
- not overly concerned defense
- WRs can be good
mostly felt like i was watching a similar Giants game to the last 8 years--- that is not positive as it shows they have the same blueprint and its the wrong fking blueprint-
Don't even get me started on Graham. We bought you a second corner and let Dalvin walk. Need to change up your scheme because teams are going to be in more 3rd and manageable than last year. I'm starting to think he's a one trick pony (we saw the same thing in the Ravnes game last year, just different reasons)
Defense needs to get off the field on 3rd and 4th down.
Passing offense needs to spread and stretch the field
Running game needs to stretch the defense to allow cutback options
IMO Jones needs to have ONE clutch game to get him going
Team needs to play with a little chip on their shoulders.
Was not hopeless but was not encouraging.
This team looks like the same team every game for the last two plus years, just with different guys in and out of the lineup.
This isn't working.
He's got a shot at catching Wills from what I hear...but with Becton going down again for the Jets... I think we will agree at some point soon they did good work with him.

wirfs is a RT but whatever
with same mold of people in front office spewing the same story and narrative about how and where it will get better---
only big ben mac could reverse the curse for a year! looks around.... ducks and hides.
This is an incredibly apt and depressing way to put it.

Wirfs is not a LT and Thomas looked great yesterday.
Coming around to think Garrett is the root of all evil on offense. How effin boring was that yesterday.
Rudolph was stale in his 1st game - not that unexpected. The routes were stale. No underneath or crossing patterns that I saw. 1st game on the field.
I do not think Jones panics. I think he is worried about making mistakes.
Barkley does dance too much, but there really weren't any holes. They tries no outside running plays. He may need to get comfortable after surgery despite what he says.
Maybe it is me, but Shepard looks like he gained speed (but looks weird wearing #3.) Looked more like VC than SS.
Still trying to figure out how Bridgewater got the personal foul called for him and Jones didn't. Bridgewater slid at last second into Martinez and Shelton had already started to make the tackle. Jones was down early and still plowed into and did catch a helmet in the ribs.
Then again, Denver has some very good parts on both sides of the ball. And maybe they are going to be the team that surprises this year. That's a very solid OL, excellent young receivers, and good backs. A lot to like.

IMO the difference was they had a play caller dialing up the right plays in Shurmur, and a QB who despite not being a world beater, made the right reads and threw mostly accurate balls.
It stings bc while we cut Shurmur loose (and rightly so) as a mediocre head coach, he’s a better OC and play caller than what we have now.
And while Jones has better physical tools than Bridgewater, he can’t seem to master the mental part of playing QB, as the OP explained well.

+1
Not sure the issue is Jones as much as it is the play calling. Hines had plenty of time, but reciever a are still not getting open. The routes are lame and predictable. I haven’t been able to call the plays out before hand this much since the end of the Gilbride days, it’s pathetic. Garrett is just not the guy, I think if it’s the same thing Thursday. We will be pounding the table for Kitchens to replace him. This Offense plays gutless, but it’s the plays that are gutless more than the players.
Quote:
3rd best LT in that draft right now behind Wirfs and Wills in that draft (they drafted THomas 1st).

My bad...tackle

The way Graham calls defenses we'd have been much better off with Lock. Ditto for Fitzy this week. Really hoping we see some more aggresivenss because they'll be in 3rd and manageable all day because they can run the ball and Heneike and distribute. WFT has the most underrated skill guys in football imo. Nobody talks about them because the QB play was sooo bad last year.
