- DG is on rookie contract and we should be able to see definitively by EOY if he is the guy or not
- Week 1 means plenty of time to right the ship and grow
- OL typically takes few weeks to gel
- Bears also lost
defended Accorsi, Reese, Coughlin, Gilbride, and Eli from criticism here on this board, but I believed in those men and their knowledge and skills. However, I have zero faith in Gettleman, Garrett, and Jones, and the jury is out on Judge.
I just do not think any of them are particularly good at what they do. Gettleman has made a mess of this team, Garrett has never really proven to be a keen offensive mind, and Jones seems to process the game too slowly (sort of the anti-Eli, slow and accurate but no feel for the game.)
It's sad, but I'm at the apathy stage of fandom. I watch the games each week at 7pm CT on Gamepass and just run it in the background. They are just terrible in every way.
player changes. Will that get better by Thursday? Probably not, but if we don't beat the doors off the Falcons with a loss this week, I'm going to be lukewarm on the future.
I feel like he was a big positive yesterday. In the shitshow that was the entire game I didn't see any glaring bad plays and it seems like he held his own the entire game. All the bad plays seemed to come from the right side. If he turns out to be a solid pro our line is real close to being a solid unit that will help steer the offense towards production.
that will be cause for outrage, but while losing game one sucked, it was not worse than:
having your tooth pulled; and/or
getting very sick; and/or
losing a dear family member.
I do have a bad taste in my mouth, but I'm shrugging it off
1. Giants offense hasn’t integrated their new players because they were out all preseason. It will take some time.
2. Defense could NOT get off the field on 3rd/4th down. This was the biggest killer in the game (not the Jones fumble). It kept the ball with the Broncos and limited an already struggling giants offense AND it got the defense exhausted because of the massive time of possession difference.
3. Denver played EXTREMELY well. Above their abilities well. And some luck on 3rd/4th down that went their way too. They took some huge risks and wine pretty much all of their gambles.
I think it’ll be harder to if the problem is Jones, the OL and Garrett. Most likely, it’s some combination. Hopefully, by the end of the year, the OlL will be able to run block and pass block in the same guy. Hopefully, by the end of the year, Garrett will call plays that attack the defense. Then, we’ll see how much of the problem is Jones.

I feel like I'm on an island, but I miss Reese's football teams. Even the bad football teams were exciting at times, and gave me something to watch. Landon Collins made a lot of fun plays, Beckham, JPP. These guys kept it interesting. these last 4 years have been about as boring as can be.

Right, I had us losing our first two on the way to ten wins. The Broncos are waaay better than people are expecting and they were sunk by Lock last year and major injuries (Jeudy is a huge blow for what they want to do though)
I watched the Chargers WFT, they are overrated, but better with Taylor at QB. Better fit for what they want to do honestly. Graham absolutely can't call games like he usually does against him though or we will see Teddy part 2.
If we lose our first two and don't shellack the Falcons at home on 10 days rest, than I'll press the panic button and demand everyone out. Till then though, patiently waiting.

* Shep looks better than ever
* Golladay showed that he can pull in contested balls, need to take more shots downfield to him
* Ojulari played well and looks like he'll be threat
* Mckinney was all over the place, he can be the best player on this defense
* Thomas had one of his better games
I was revolted, but in looking at the highlights, I didn't feel that bad. I know I'll be killed for it. But can we just say that Teddy Bridgewater played like a freak? As in, it was a special game for him - a pro athlete CAN get in a zone, and that was part of yesterday. He made a Manningesque throw on a 3rd and 5. If Azeez sacks him as he should have, it's 4th down at Denver 18. If McKinney gets him down on 4th, and he had him dead to rights - it's a different game. To be fair, Den blew a clear TD throw. Jackson was torched a lot in zone - but the optimist would say this guy hasn't practiced. What do you expect? Leo again barely missed on a few. Dex Lawrence almost had him -- couple plays get made it's at least a much tighter, respectable game.
Yes - the fact that Shurmur at least moved Bridgewater around, stood out for me - b/c Garrett does it only when he has to. Point is - when you see how Bridgewater barely got off throws, made incredible plays - the defense didn't strike me as being as bad as I thought. Thursday will say a lot.
In week 1 and most of our starting offensive skill players have little practice and no real game time yet. Game 5 against the Cowboys is where I hang my hat. If we lay an egg there, put the season in the waste can.

I came here to bond with fellow optimists and I find this drivel. Sheesh…
You guys kill me….one game and you all are crying.
Oh, in case you didn’t notice, half of the teams lost yesterday too. We lost to a very good team who has better coaches and a better defense. Nothing to be that upset over. Next week may be different though….
But you can see the effects of not having our first teams practice together. There was little chemistry or coordination.
Let's hope that changes fast.

The offense actually looked worse with Barkley and Golloday. How is that possible?

This. The rebuild hasn’t even started yet, that is what’s so painful about this. Just a whole lot of wasted time.

Sigh...hard to come up with anything better than this...
I still believe Barkley can be the best player on a great offensive team, but who the fuck cares anymore.

Golf, baseball pennant races, and Giants football.
Already looking forward to Thursday. No offense to anyone, but really have trouble relating to pessimism,.... kind of glad about that
That's the story I'm sticking to. (oyyy).
2) If they dont improve the next GM will have good draft assets to improve the team as he sees fit.

Where have I heard this before? Oh wait, it was 3 years ago. And we fired Reese 6 years ago.
It won't change. Ever.
The Broncos had the ball for almost 11 minutes more than the Giants.
The Giants had that one huge disadvantaged drive, starting on their own 4 after the fumble BUT, good teams move off their own goal.
Either way I think we play much better against Washington.

Teddy part deux?
