I am at my wit's end with our flagship sponsor, Verizon Wireless, and their lack of wireless coverage during tailgate parties.
I was in lot J, with 4 other VZW customers. We all had full bars but no connection to anything. Couldn't even get a text out. 5G and LTE were useless. I had to switch to 3G mode to get anything.
I want to take an informal poll, since I'm considering switching carriers anyway.
Did anyone else struggle with Verizon Wireless on Sunday? Or, did anyone on T-Mobile or AT& T have the opposite of my crappy experience?
i'm going to airplane mode from now on
For reference, I sit in 131 near the verizon gate.
Having said that, I literally got no 4G service on Verizon this Sunday
2 tips:
1) WiFi service within about 100 yards of the building is good enough (GiantsFreeWifi network)
2) You should definitely use the option to download the ticket to your phone's "wallet" app in advance, which securely stores it offline for use at the gate.
Bonus tip... do tip #2 BEFORE you arrive at the stadium. That was my problem Sunday. Couldn't even get online to download the ticket or make a transfer to my buddies until we go to the gate where wifi service was working well enough.
On the plus side, I sat in section 316 and the seats were great, and the food was good besides the maggotts.. so not a terrible trip, my son said it was great until the giants lost.
just make sure your tickets are in your wallet, you wont need service, just power
Also, make sure you get into the stadium early, it made the lines way way way slower. first time i missed kick off since the stadium opened
Not that its a big deal, but they did mention technology in all their marketing materials for this air conditioner.
I also picked up much better cell service and wifi once I was within 100 yards of the stadium.
But, out in the lots for the tailgate, unusable. I suspect a lot of people were trying to stream early games, too, which hogs bandwidth. Still, in this era, the stadium and various carriers should be able to model this and figure it out.

If you're coming from the city, the bus from Port Authority is the way to go both ways (at least it was when I lived in Brooklyn in 15/16).
Skeptical.
from a technical standpoint i think its the shear amount of endpoints in a concentrated area thats just too much.
If you park in the platinum lots, you are in range of the stadium WiFi and can survive.
Never had this issue at Yankee stadium.
