In todays game I would never go with a defensive coach. Really liked Sean McVay. If the front office has gotten anything right in the last 10 years it was not bringing in McCarthy. What an uninspiring blob.
and candidly, I think the novelty of it all has run its course. Plus, my guess is that teams are averse to it in the first place.
The NFL is exceptional at over saturation, and hard knocks is just that. HBO is know for putting out quality docs and their production value is usually great but any of us here can make hard knocks, it really isn’t a compelling show given what fans have access to without the show.
My prediction: 17 weeks of Hard Knocks. They expand into the regular season and every team is on it at least once, using behind the scenes footage from the teams and not just NFL Films.
the Giants put out over the last 2 training camps, which were sort of like mini versions of NYG hard knocks, we’re olive branches from NYG to the league and the fans basically saying “sorry we don’t want to ever be on Hard Knocks but here’s some content” and honestly I thought they were really well done. I enjoyed those.
They were Hard Knocks without the manufactured drama and corny music. Just actual behind the scenes footage of different aspects of NYG training camp.
Pretty much a fan of anything NFL Films throws out there. I think it’s crazy if there’s any truth to the notion that the Giants don’t want to be on the show.
Inside access focuses at first on the subject at hand. There was some really good insight into the meeting rooms and how coaches and coordinators motivate and lead.
Then the production types step in when they sense things might be getting stale and we get "Real Housewives" and "Big Brother" with some practice field reps in between.
If you fast forwarded from one actual football segment to the other in the last few seasons there was what felt like 6m of show to watch.

That said, I did learn what Jameis Winston considers 'The Dirty South'.

First season: two teams who hate each other in the worst division, where they need more fans to attend. WFT & NYG.
Also perhaps throw in a 9/11 spin for S1: because NFL.
We’ll see Garrett in his office practicing his clapping.

Basically an expanded sights and sounds
