It is not inconceivable that the Giants could have two picks in the Top 10 which has Offensive Tackles Evan Neal (Alabama) and Kenyon Green (Texas A& M) sitting at #5 and #10 respectively.
In all, 42 colleges have at least one player on the Top 100 list with Alabama leading the way with 9 players. Seven teams have at least 4 players and collectively represent nearly one-half of the total:
Alabama 9
Georgia 8
Ohio State 8
Penn State 6
Oklahoma 5
Iowa State 4
Texas A& M 4
And here is the distribution of players by position. If Gettleman has not been retired/fired, count on more draft capital spent on CBs, which lead the list with 14 players:
CB 14
OT 13
WR 13
DE 9
OLB 9
QB 8
DT 7
S 6
ILB 5
OG 5
TE 5
C 3
RB 3
Lastly, just a wild hunch. After this season, we will be saying good-bye to several familiar faces and saying hello to several on the attached list.

Here is one example - He has Matt Corral listed at 6'5", 226. Corral is barely 6'and 200.
I mean, if you can't get that right...
Edge
OT
is the Liberty University QB, Malik Willis (an Auburn transfer) who is currently ranked #16. This guy is a dynamic threat with his arm and his legs, but I doubt the Giants would draft him. More likely Malik Willis ends up somewhere else where he will put WOW plays on tape week after week.

The kid's got an arm. Flick of the wrist and it's 50 yards downfield. He's not super quick but he's got enough wriggle to make guys miss and he's got some meat on his bones. I'm excited to see what he does against Ole Miss. I have a feeling he'll go top ten if continues to play this well.
Perhaps a new regime will not squander all the precious draft capital of the past several years.
But the Panthers cut the punter so we do not get their 7th?
Best case scenario is we turn things around and the Bears stay bad long enough where we have a shot at Neal or a Thibodeaux.
Wayyyy more athletic than either one, though Wills was no slouch. But Neal is a different kind of athlete.

I'm with you 100%. If we have to turn to QB, I sure hope the guy from Liberty is part of the conversation. But my biggest Giants wish is your scenario in which we get a Top 10 pick from the Bears and the Giants own pick is way down in the latter part of Round One!

And if the QB isn't milk toast when we draft him the Giants will make him that way.

Chicago's pick can't be any lower than 12 or so.
Impact defender and OL badly needed.
Agree mostly, but one caveat. The Giants do need an OT even with Thomas being a good player, unless Peart somehow greatly improves.
+1
Agreed. My concern is if this season spirals and they clean house watch them hire a 4-3 guy and we’re back to square one on the defensive line. Hopefully it doesn’t go down that way.
TJ Watt-ish...

no reason to stop there, not when you run a 3-4 base and the other guys are invisible.
+1
Jon, I 100% agree but people here making it sound like you and I are gonna line up at edge this weekend. It may not be as HUGE a need as some are describing.
I also agree with the OT comment that even if thomas works out, we may need a RT. This is also possible but againm I think my comment was moreso for those who are acting like we have a couple of garbage cans at edge and OT when we really have young kids and dont know what they can be.
If they have an opportunity next April, for example, to draft the best LT and Edge (or almost any impact defender) in the draft, they should pull the trigger and be thrilled (if they're sticking with Jones). Collect the talent, let them duke it out in camp for starting positions. There are few players on this roster that stop me from saying we can get better. Jones could wind up on the upgrade list too.

It's interesting, because the 2022 crop seems to be pretty deep with the edge rushers. I don't know how they can pass something like that up if the opportunity is there. And yes, if the top OT is staring at them when they pick, you gotta pull the trigger, right?

💯
Seriously, this might be a record even for me of checking out the next year's draft prospects.

I get it. But, they've got to get more talented, especially at the premium positions. Creating competition will push the prospects already in house as well.

I would. But, would NYG? I think it's clear their draft strategy is to pick the best player available at position of need, even at the top of the draft. I hate it, but their success horizon probably urges it on. They will probably view AT as the LT, and might not want to spend a top 10 pick on another OT.
This guy will be a top QB in the NFL in years to come
unless a QB really sticks out
Kenyon Green OG Texas A and M
Demarvin Leal DT. Texas A and m
My two choices in RD 1 if it isn’t a QB
Hah good question. One possible influence: Lauryn Hill's 1998 track "To Zion" - a tribute to her own infant son, named Zion.
Well, what do you know... ;)

There is NFW Slovis is the #20 rated prospect on anyone's board right now.
He's been, and I'll be kind, pedestrian through two games so far against San Jose St and Stanford. Two teams that people aren't confusing with Alabama and Georgia...

Corral is very good and better than the top two by far and has the the best touch and accurate
And yes lugnut and b.w. that was a misprint. One of the problems of working from a template is that sometimes the old data hangs around! And no it is never too early to be looking at upcoming draft prospects even if you have legit Super Bowl aspirations. It is way too early, though, for anyone to be saying 'this is the guy I want' and such.
Certainly I have no at this time what the Giants will be doing or thinking this coming April. However, there are several draft related things I think that you can probably take to the bank. They won't give you anything for them, but you can take them to the bank!
First, I really don't think the Giants will be picking top 5 this year or any year soon. Not sure what happened on Sunday, but I really think the Giants have too many good players to be a true bottom feeder, although one never likes to say never.
On defense, there really is no way that a unit that includes the likes of Leo Williams, Dexter Lawrence, Blake Martinez, James Bradberry, Adoree Jackson, Jabrill Peppers and Xavier McKinney should be giving up over 400 yards per game and allowing a 67% 3rd-4th conversion rate. In fact, I really think the Giants have close to enough pieces to field an aggressive, attacking defense. Sure, you're going to give up some big plays but anything has to be better than being nickle-and-dimed to death every week.
Similar story on offense where the offense has at least three really good NFL receivers in Golladay, Shepard and Slayton, complimented (hopefully) by gadget receivers like Saquon, Toney and Engram, to build around. Obviously the OL is still a work in progress, but they certainly appeared to be good enough on Sunday against a very aggressive defense. Again what I see is a team with most of the pieces in place to run a wide-open, field-stretching big-play offense that should be really hard to match-up with. But you gotta run it though!
I also don't think Daniel Jones is going anywhere this year. He's clearly got some warts in his game; however, while its a good year at QB with as many as a half dozen or so guys with first-round potential at least at this time none looks like a sure-thing type prospect that would clearly be an upgrade. Plus Jones is cost controlled for at least another year. The one caveat would be if the Giants came to really like one of the QBs (like they did with Mahomes a couple of years back) like a Rattler or Malik Willis or even a guy like Nevada's Carson Strong who everyone in the league seems to be hot on these days.
And just as an aside, one thing that kind of jumped out at me on Sunday was that Jones is indeed a really good athlete (although he's probably still more fast than quick) and you wonder why that hasn't been incorporated into the game plan more.
My own sense at this time is that the 2022 draft could very well be all about the defense, especially the pass rush and the coverage units. And this is not so much about 'plugging holes' but building a potential playoff contender that can shut people down on 3rd downs. In particular, most teams that can get after the QB have multiple guys that can rush the QB. And it does appear that DE/ER could be a real strength at this year's draft with 3-4 top 10-15 guys including Oregon's Kayvon Thibodeaux, Drake Jackson of USC Purdue's George Karlaftis and Aidan Hutchinson of Michigan. Unfortunately maybe not so much at CB and that might be an area you look on the second day.
I also don't think the Giants will go into the draft planning to take an OL early. But I could very much see them taking a guy like Evan Neal or Kenyon Green early as a player simply too good to pass on if he was there, although there is aslo some terrific depth along the OL this year. Time will tell.
Safe to say though that the 2022 NY Giants will need help in a lot of places so good thing we have a ton of draft picks to provide the new GM...excuse me, GM Dave Gettleman.
