Crazy to say it this early in the season but Week 2 is a must win game for the giants. No one expected the Giants to lose like they did week 1 vs the Broncos. The defense played bad, play calling for the offense was terrible, & turning the football over at the worse moment. Jone is in his 3rd year and he can't keep making the same mistakes; he has to not go for the first read every time you throw the ball. The offensive line was the bright spot in week 1 vs Denver, but they only played against Von Miller and couldn't create holes in the run game. Gettleman continues to ignore the offensive line and his draft aint that far off from Jerry Reese who also drafted terrible.
The Giants have to win tomorrow's game vs the Football team if they want to survive this season. If they lose and start 0-2, chances of making the playoff is slim and people will be attacking Daniel Jones, Dave Gettleman, Patrick Graham, & Joe Judge. The schedule will get harder after the Falcons game and everyone in the division including the Eagles look better than us.
If the Giants win vs Redskin and beat the Falcons, they will start 2-1 and the fans and the team will feel confident they are in a good place and take it one game at a time. People can say its only 1 game, but the Giants are not a good football team for the past few years. Good teams like the Packers, Bills, Colts, & Titans will bounce back since they are a good team to overcome (The Giants are not in the same class as those teams yet).
I guarantee you if the giants win 5 to 6 game this season, Daniel Jones, Dave Gettleman, and Jason Garrett will all be gone (maybe Joe Judge also if the new GM wants his own coach). By that time we will be continuing the rebuild and won't be good in the coming years. There is a lot of ifs and buts with this team, all we can do is hope for the best and go from there.
Eagles look better on both sides (granted they played the Falcons), we know what to expect from the Cowboys offense (their defense look better than last year against the run and force turnovers), and the Redskins defense is still legit. The Giants look like the worse team in the division. I expect this division to get better during the year. The Giants are a better team on paper than last year and the defense will bounce back but until we see the progress there are still doubt. This game vs the Football Team will determine the future of the Giants.
It isn't the nail in the coffin but 0-2 isn't a good spot to be historically in the NFL.
I will say this, if they lose tomorrow and next week at home v Atlanta, things could get really ugly.
Fans are very emotional and reactive. That's what it means to be a fan. But there are no must-win games in September. Better to win than lose, and we all hate being 0-2 (so, so tired of that) but the season's not over at 0-2 — though there will be lots of rage-posts on BBI insisting that it is, and that everyone should go.
Maybe everyone should go but losing this game won't be the reason.
It is, however, a must-look better on both sides of the ball otherwise confidence level will be shaken, coaches will start amping things up and guys will start pressing and guessing.
None of which is good...
We don't know if we will even get to that point yet. Of course we have a chance if we are in that situation, but a lot of thing have to go our way. Team that usually go 0-2 usually don't make the playoffs and second our division looks better even though it 1 game. We have to play the Chiefs, Buccaneers, Saints, Chargers, & Rams outside our division as well and it's not gonna be easy. We are not the 2011 Giants and certainly not the 2007 Giants. The Giants during those years were good, were not there yet. Our expectation this year was making the playoffs or have 8-10 wins, not the Superbowl. There no question our QB and GM will be on the hot seat, we just gotta hope for the best.

People keep saying Falcon is a must win game. Let say we lose tomorrow but beat Falcons with the record of 1-2, the only other game I see us winning is the panther. Going to the chiefs game with a record of 2-5. We be 2-6 and that's hard to overcome.
I had us going 0-2 on the way to ten wins, but if they don't take this one down to the wire with a good effort all around, I"m not going to feel confident in that anymore. The back half of the schedule does set up much better than the first half. But all people will see is 0-2 and cry about years past and say the second half of the season is fools gold if we finish with a winning record. The opponents matter too.
Given the strong chance the Chargers can beat Dallas and the Niners can beat Philly....it would put us up in a tie for first place and game ahead of Dallas and Washington.
Confidence and rhythm. No-one wants to come back to the building for practice 0-2.
Incentivize the players to win the game with some time off this weekend.

Teams that go 0-2 still have a 12% chance of making the playoffs and in a craptastic East and an extra wild card we probably have double that if that were to occur. Falcons are the real must win game then because if we can't beat them and start 0-3 the fuckin season is toast.

NFL is a week-to-week thing. A ton of things happen each week that change the outcomes of who wins and who loses that very week and the next. Every QB in our division went down last year for instance.
Every game is important but when you play in the NFCE and 7 wins won the division last year, week 2 simply cannot be a must-win game...
If they don't beat Washington, or at least compete, this could be a dreadful season.
Well with the extra team and the craptistic East, our odds go up a bit. Beat the Falcons and I'd say you are looking at 50-50 odds depending on how the next two shake out. The back half of the schedule is much easier as things stand today. Of course with a blowout loss against WFT and squeek out against the Falcons might as well throw in the towel.
It s why I keep watching and investing in the team until they are eliminated from contention.
I might be in the minority, but I really enjoyed the Dallas win, last season and was excited for a chance at the playoffs.
A win Thursday is really important, but not a must win in my opinion
If the Giants lose on Thursday, it is very unlikely they make the playoffs in 2021.
Evidence.
Actual NFL history since they expanded the playoff pool.
~12% of teams that start 0-2 make the postseason.
I am not wrong.
Playing NO and the Rams are far less winnable....and Dallas away will be tough...
So if we lose to WFT....1-5 is likely
If we lose to Atlanta....0-6 is likely
First of all we not the same team as the 2007 Giants. They have a good offensive line, good defensive line, and linebackers. They were able to run the ball consistently, so far we haven't.
Second, saying winning the next 6 games is not easy as it sounds. There no guarantee that will happen. If you look at the schedule beside the falcon and panthers, we have the rams, chiefs, saints, and cowboys (And they are tough).

88% of 0-2 teams miss the playoffs. So yeah, I would say it’s a must win game or the chances of the Giants making the playoffs become very low (not to mention how demoralizing it would be to a team they’ve had recent success against and a backup QB)

I agree that with the extra spot and how our division has been we have a chance. I expect the NFC East will be much better this season than last year and you are right that team can change week to week. The thing that concern me is the development of Daniel Jones and the offensive line. The defense was terrible but we do have the players to be better. Until I see that getting better, there is a lot of doubt. Jones and Gettleman are on the hot seat this season and how we do will determine that.

with the defense giving up 80 points - you just gotta win the next 6 games, that's all.

There's no guarantee this NY Giant team will win its next 6 games in a row? That seems like you're being just a bit pessimistic...
So what? Most of you all think the media comes crashing down on them already, so if that winds up being the case then nobody should be able to tell anyway...
I noticed you failed to answer my question last night where I asked what I have not opined
The 07 team made the playoffs the previous two years and many of the key players with that winning mentality in their short term memory were on the 07 squad. Only Shepard remains from the last playoff season for the Giants.
Once again making a claim that you can't back up. Putting your money where your mouth is not a philosophy you believe in...
Thanks for your cooperation
It is my opinion that you are the same person as nygGolfer and chick310, and were LBH15. Now I can't prove it, so you can tell me to shove it.
It's quite easy.
Lol. Don't be so sensitive.
Oh, and that's a rhetoric...
Oh, and that's a rhetoric...
Because you're worth it?
When did I do that? Show me.
And hopefully you aren't going into the archives and changing the names on old posts like your buddy did...
It will also say a lot that you can't beat two ~average football teams in the Broncos/Redskins. Lose to the Falcons and the season is really over.

This is a pretty general comment about posters and their views of a biased media. Not following your issue...
Regarding what?...you're quite a mess right now for no apparent reason.
