Apologies if I missed a previous thread?
Wow, what a trip back into time, that was a fun watch. Mex, Carter, Darling, McDowell, Doc, Darryl, Ojeda, Backman...winners.
Amazed that Lenny Dykstra was willing to be a part of it after all he's been through and good for Doc and Straw for being so open about their demons in life.
Frank Cashen trading Mitchell right after the season to "save" Darryl and Doc? Wow.
I was in Boston for game 6....ran into the street after the Mookie/Buckner play screaming...someone yelled, "don't worry we'll win game 7," thinking I was a deranged Sox fan.
I just want one more 1986 before I go...
And, the Giants won the SB and I got engaged to my wife of 32 years in 1986; that was a good year :)
DK
Documentary was great.
Near the end they showed the score being shown on the scoreboard at Giants Stadium, as the Giants/Redskins played Monday Night Football (Game 7 was pushed to Monday due to rain).
As I remember correctly, the Skins had a third and goal maybe from the 1, and when the Mets got the final out the crowd at the stadium erupted causing a false start...and the Skins ultimately ended up settling for a FG. Giants would win 27-20.
It was stunning to see the difference between the brilliant moves Cashen made to build the Mets in 1983 and 1984, and the idiotic moves he made to dismantle them in 1986 and 1987.
However brining in Kevin McReynolds, and promoting HoJo full time weren't bad moves. McReynolds was a really good player. Dykstra doesn't approve? LOL...who gives a shit.
The Mets won 100 games in 1988 and were again the best team, just lost to the Dodgers and Hershsier who were on a magic run.
