NFT: Recommend me a show....

CozySunday : 9/16/2021 10:28 am
Portions of my job I can do from home and I like to throw on a show in the background while I work. I usually pick drama shows with heavy dialogue so I do not have to be constantly looking up at the screen (e.g., Mad Men, Sopranos, Succession). Looking for some recommendations. Thanks.

PS., I'll take any show recommendations really.

Dogs of Berlin on Netflix had a decent first season.

Great cast, great show. Hugh Laurie, Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Coleman. A spy thriller based on a John le Carré book. Won Emmies and Golden Globes. Never heard of it until a few weeks ago.
Banshee on HBO Max is a terrific show
GeofromNJ : 9/16/2021 10:44 am : link
but requires audience attention. Lots action, drama, interesting characters, and given all the opportunities for conflict, you just know the whole thing is going to blow.

But if you want dialogue heavy but not visual, podcasts seem kinda perfect for you. They’re free and they have pretty much whatever you are interested in.

vote for Banshee, but dont waste it as background noise.
For All Mankind

sounds like it fits your requirements. Fantastic writing and acting, and even better production quality for when you are watching the screen.

Letterkenny is one of my favorite recent(ish) comedies.

If you want a crime drama, I enjoyed Broadchurch on Netflix a lot.

The first 8 seasons were 'must-see'. William H. Macy is stellar! You love him and hate him at the same time.

It got a little 'socially' preachy toward the last few seasons, but was still very entertaining.
One that I liked a lot that never got hyped like many others

Ripper Street. The last two seasons are kind of hit or miss, but the first three were outstanding.

I do not recommend watching the Boys
UConn4523 : 9/16/2021 11:55 am : link
unless you are paying attention. The visuals in the Boys is half of the show.

bigblue1124 : 9/16/2021 12:22 pm : link
Bosch on season 8- Prime
Hunters season 2 in the works- Prime
Ozarks final season in the works- Netflix
Animal Kingdom available on prime 5 seasons 1 more coming
Seal Team- paramount plus
Mayans - FX I believe 3 seasons 4th coming
Sons of Anarchy 7 seasons- I believe prime and Netflix
Game of Thrones- HBO or prime
Mind hunter 2 seasons 3 apparently in works- Netflix

we got Epix to watch "Condor"
oghwga : 9/16/2021 12:26 pm : link
great show with lots of nods to the original 3 Days of the Condor.

Just got done watching "Perpetual Grace LTD" with Ben Kingsley and it might be in my top 10. You will either love it or you will completely hate it.

It was never on my radar and I'm glad we found it. Kind of like the Coen brothers on Valium and psychedelics.

Regarding Mind Hunter:

original drama series "Mindhunter" was put on an indefinite hold, and now its future looks even more bleak. ... This led to the company's decision to release the "Mindhunter" actors from their contracts, though the show wasn't formally canceled.Oct 24, 2020

^^got that off the google...who knows.

I started watching Burn Notice.

Good show, 7 seasons, easy to follow. It's on either Prime or HBO Max.

I watched the 1st season of Pennyworth and enjoyed it. Might be hard if you aren't paying full attention, with the accents.

I also enjoyed Castlevania on Netflix. Might be more of a visual though.
Justified.
