It's incredible how our talent level has fallen since we last won the Super Bowl.
I'm trying to think.... I think we were better at every single position on the field then we are now.
Who on this roster would have made the starting lineup in the last Super Bowl against the Patriots?
i mean dexter lawrence not tomlinson
Ignore that he's a #2 overall pick.
A playmaking RB who can't pass protect is usually a 3rd down role player.
I'm not ignoring his rookie season, but we haven't seen that guy in a long time.
I love MM and he came up huge that year, but Golladay is definitely a better player.
We dont have healthy Saquon.
Maybe Martinez, but Chase Blackburn was unsung hero against run and pass. Turnovers in playoffs, etc....
None of our deep backs benches Antrel Rolle.
Ok, bradberry probably.
Interesting about L. Williams, but who would you bench for him?

Martinez still starts over Blackburn, even with Blackburn playing great ball during those playoffs. IMO
I like Peppers, but no way he starts over 2011 Antrel Rolle.
Bradberry is obvious to start at CB
I'd agree with those saying I'm not sure you start Barkley over Jacobs and Bradshaw.
2019 Barkley, of course you do, but until he shows he can be that again, not sold
Interesting topic to consider, for sure
This current team has one, maybe two really good players: Williams and Bradberry. Martinez, Ryan, Lawrence...nice players. That's about it.
Is incredible how bad the offensive talent is considering we've used a #2, #6, #4, and #20 on that side of the ball in the last four drafts.
Yeah, this may be fairly accurate.
CB - We started Webster and Ross, Bradberry over Ross
DT - We started Linval and Chris Canty. Leonard Williams is a better Chris Canty IMO
MLB - We started Michael Boley and Chase Blackburn at MLB, Martinez is better than those guys
Adoree would be CB #3, so if you're just saying CB 1-2 are "starters", he wouldn't start
Safety is tough. Logan Ryan and Peppers vs Rolle and KP? I'm going Rolle and KP over both of those guys. Logan Thomas would probably take the Deon Grant role in that defense.
Rudolph? TE #2, sure, but not as a starter over Ballard.
KG? He would be #3 over Manningham, but I wouldn't put him above 2011 Nicks or Cruz at this point in his career.
Dalvin Tomlinson isn't on this team anymore, soo...
And then you have Barkley vs Bradshaw. This is tough. If Barkley is healthy, he is the better player.
I love MM and he came up huge that year, but Golladay is definitely a better player.
Manningham wasn't a starter, he was the third receiver.
I'd take Bradshaw over Saquon in a minute. Many here greatly overrate SB, and AB has always been overlooked.

Yeah, I noticed on PFR, they had MM listed as the starter. VC was in the line-up in almost all 2WR sets.
The offensive line was hanging over the ledge with fingernails coming off. Amazing how they were able to keep it together for that run.
I take the Jacobs/Bradshaw over SB. Both tough as nails and they could pass block. Jacob made blitzers think twice.
Martinez would start over Blackburn
Both Leo Williams and Dexter Lawrence would start over Canty and Joseph.
Not sure about the offense though.
That’s a bit of a misconception IMO. The OL, Bradshaw and Jacobs were banged up for parts of the regular season, then unexpectedly got healthier and brought their A game down the stretch and in the playoffs
The running game come playoff time as a strength
Agree with Martinez over Blackburn, Bradberry. DL is a tough one. Tuck and JPP stay, but I am not well educated on line play. I like Dexter Lawrence, but it seems to me you would have to take out Linval Joseph to put in Dexter. It seems that defense had one tackle as a run stuffer, and one tackle as a pass rusher (canty).
We needed a better Corner than Aaron Ross back then anyway...
What about Logan Ryan over Grant as the third safety?
David Diehl in particular was giving up a pressure every other snap in the playoffs.
We needed a better Corner than Aaron Ross back then anyway...
Martinez would be an upgrade over Blackburn.

and maybe just Bradberry.

Yeah, true. Blackburn was a good story though...

Remember the future of the Giants LB core was Spencer Paysinger/Mark Herzlich and Jacquian Williams?
I disagree about Thomas over Beatty. Maybe down the road, but right now, Beatty was the better player. Was Deon Grant really a starter? Kenny Phillips and Antrel Rolle were the safeties, with Ross and Webster at CB. Grant was more of a rotational guy.
I'd go with Williams over Joseph, Martinez over Boley (although Boley was really good in the postseason), and Bradberry over Ross. That's it.

youre out of your mind. the run game wasnt good in 2011.
barkley absolutely plays on that team. he is a MUCH more talented player than bradshaw and jacobs. this shit is madness.

You're using Toney as an example? He has been in the NFL for about 4 months.

Oh yes, the LBs that Reese would put out there for Coughlin was comical.
When Herzlich had to play Defense, the game was lost...

and in football youre a sum of your parts. just because you select an offensive player doesnt mean offense is good.
thomas still could be a very good LT, its early. we know barkley is talented. Jones eh, jury still out and as mentioned toney has played in 1 game...
Run game and oline were awful, defense was not very good for much of the year..
team lost 4 in a row in the middle of the year and people on this site were hoping the team would miss the playoffs because they were going to lose 1st round..

yes. 2011 wasnt a good team really. we got hot and played good football. Now all of a sudden, nobody from this team can start on that pretty poor team LOL .
that defense was ranked close to bottom of the league that year, but our top ten unit this year MAYBE has bradberry starting for the 2011 team LOL
There AT LEAST 5 defenders im taking from this years defense.
Martinez
Leonard Williams
None of which were actually drafted by the Giants.
Gates might maybe be close with Baas though.
And LOL Barkley. 2018 Barkley sure. 2021 Barkley? Not right now.

You have a point about Barkley. I admittingly was using 2018 Barkley. 2021 Barkley is an unknown.

Uh, anyone? Canty or Linval. Both good but Leo is better. I would put Dexter Lawrence over both as well.
Bradberry over an older Webster? Sure would. Other corners were Prince, Ross, Coe? They were not good at corner.
Jacobs and Bradshaw are definitely getting benched for Barkley.
I'll take Shep or Golloday over Manningham. MM sucked ass for the most part. Great SB catch.
I'm taking Engram or Rudolph over Ballard and Pascoe.
Leonard Williams doesn't start over Tuck and JPP.
Bradbury starts over Aaron Ross.
Blake Martinez starts over Chase Blackburn.

That's a good call. Probably start him over Canty.
People make us out like we are devoid of talent. We aren't. The 2011 Giants had a Prime Eli Manning, studs in Nicks and Cru and a pass rush..
That caught fire at the right time.
The RBs were injured most of the season. Look how the running game improved in the last few games of the season when both Bradshaw and Jacobs got healthy.
