I'm not really expecting to enjoy it. Hope springs eternal, though. I still believe in Joe Judge and I think Jones still has upside. Garrett and his offense, though, have been bad and boring. Maybe this will be the week they take a step forward.
I legit think seeing Shurmur last week woke something up inside of Garrett because that is not what we have seen. Either that or they were hiding all this stuff for this week. Maybe there was something to be said about Golladays throw away comment about slow start. This game is monumentally more important than the Broncos game.
I think the entire organization needed the game to open up like that. The defense forcing a 3 and out, and the offense driving down the field for a score.

I don't know, but it seems like everything Shurmur did well with Jones we saw applied on that drive. Maybe going up against him last week was an eye opener on how the modern day NFL is called.....

Lemieux is not gone for the year. Injured Reserve isn't what it used to be. IR is a minimum of 3 weeks and no limit to how many players you can bring back from IR.

These situations (such as injuries) are going to emerge. You need to be prepared for everything and that bullshit kept likely points off of the board. That's on the coach.
Go back and watch the replay. Jones could not get out of the pocket to try to throw it away. If he tries to throw it away inside the pocket there is a good chance his arm gets hit and there is a fumble or pass get INT.

Gates out, the OL is likely suffering from a lack of chemistry. My guess is the WFT tries to capitalize on their confusion by running some DL stunts, which we aren't good at handling anyway.

He's not as mobile. He's got straight line speed as a runner but he's not sliding around the pocket.

Well McLauren is fucking dangerous and our best corner can't cover him right now. Bradberry needs to rise to the occassion here, but McLauren is one of the most underrated WRs in the league. Yiadom can easily float 20 yards off the play for 800k.
The d - line not getting consistent pressure doesn't mean you play soft zone, it means aggressive blitzing and tight man coverage. Defenses need to be aggressive, this aint it. No attitude.
Offensively, they out think themselves. Sheppard screen in the red zone? They can't stick with Golladay and he drew an offensive PI - you then never go back to him. Why? Garrett's red zone playcalling stinks. That said, happy with more RPO and trying to play to Jones' strengths. He is not a drop back passer.

Jones is still locking in on his first read. I thought when he did it last year it was because he didn't trust his OL and therefore frequently didn't have time to go through his progressions. A lot of his WRs (Board, Mack) were also journeymen who really can't separate in the NFL. He was throwing into a lot of tight windows out of necessity. But it's still a problem. On several plays it looked like he could have thrown to an open receiver. He also has no lateral mobility to move in the pocket to escape pressure.

No pressure really after the first two drives. Heinicke is very inaccurate but he has plenty of time to throw and a clean pocket on most plays.

It's perposterous, I said Graham would get another shot at the apple to see if he could adjust because he was going to see a lot of the same with Teddy and Heineke, yet we sit in soft zones like we are playing Dan Marino. It's truly a sight to behold.

Yeah— But our problem in recent years has always been drives stalling in opposing territory and in the red zone in particular. Moving the ball between the 20s comes and goes with these Giants— but I can’t remember the last time we were in the red zone and I truly felt like we were about to score a TD. Never gonna make the playoffs if we never figure out how to score in the red zone.

Judge's decision making may be influenced by his time under Belichick. BB could afford to gamble because: a) he had Brady, and b) he could count on his D. Consciously or subconsciously, Judge doesn't have as much confidence in our guys, so he's playing it conservatively.

Jones is still locking in on his first read. I thought when he did it last year it was because he didn't trust his OL and therefore frequently didn't have time to go through his progressions. A lot of his WRs (Board, Mack) were also journeymen who really can't separate in the NFL. He was throwing into a lot of tight windows out of necessity. But it's still a problem. On several plays it looked like he could have thrown to an open receiver. He also has no lateral mobility to move in the pocket to escape pressure.
Why did we pay two man CBs a lot of money to have them play so much zone, and keep them 10+ yards off the LOS?
