I have been a fan for almost 40 years. I have lived and died with this team and have followed them religiously over the years. I have my memorabilia, jerseys and many great memories from the past. But the present has been another story.
I find myself not really getting up for games like I used to and don't seem as emotionally involved like I used to be. I have become numb due to the last several years. The Giants used to be a sense of pride with their storied history and their contributions to the game. Now they are a joke. Most people I know dog them and the media does as well.
I have come to not respect their ownership and most everyone involved with the decision making with the team. They rely to much on their storied past and the game has seemed to pass them by. They lack creativity, energy, aggressive mindset and winning attitude and I am growing tired of it.
I take time away from my family to follow this team and most of the time I don't have a lot of free time. I am questioning if it is really worth it. I follow sports and this team because of the passion in the game but I am not finding a lot of passion or enjoyment with this team for the last several years now.
Not sure if I am the only one feeling this way or not but it is becoming more and more apparent to me that I don't care like I used to.
2-6
1-7
0-2
It's getting harder and harder to get up for these games. 3 coaches post Coughlin and it's a shit show and bloody mess. When you begin to get more excited about Fantasy Football than your football team on Sunday's that says a lot. No question there is a very dark cloud hanging over this organization and it has to play out.
But I can’t discount mow that I think about it that it has coincided with the team becoming totally uninspiring. Giants games are no longer entertaining or fun, they are slogs of performative failure.
To elaborate, as I think more about it, I especially don't feel connected to this year's team. Shep is the longest tenured Giant followed by Evan Engram I believe. Now sitting at 0-2 for the 5th straight year there's a decent chance the entire thing gets turned over yet again. Sad.
No one else cares!!!!
Well, 9 years. 2011-2012 wasn't that bad :P
But yeah, the last few years have really tested our passion and love for this team
No one else cares!!!!
The number of responses would seem to indicate the opposite. Keep waiting on that shit to taste like ice cream though, I hope it works out for you.
If we’re going to be perennial losers, then I need to change my narrative, from proud, strong Giant fan to hapless loser that regardless of the fool that thinks we’re going to the playoffs every year to …thankfully we haven’t embarrassed ourselves today.
It’s a turning point in my relationship as a fan…losses like this bring out the worst.::.
For most of my life, I mostly went into games expecting the Giants would win. More often than not, they delivered. For several years now, it is more hoping (really hoping) they don't lose.
No one else cares!!!!
Yet you cared enough to get on his thread to tell him you don’t care? Genius.
This was a tough one tonight.
Mara has run this team into the ground, and Gettleman is his Mike Milbury / Isaiah Thomas - a guy who will be given too much rope to just continue making one stupid move after another.
Lived thru the late 60’s when my old man had me watchin’ them on our black & white TV…
Watched them thru the lousy ‘70’s when only Jon Mendenhall, Pete Athes & Dave Jennings were worth watching…
Enjoyed SB XXI, XXV, XXXV, XLII & XLIV… lots of great games, great players and great teams, many of whom started slow but finished fast (Hello Eli)… it’s part of the game… sorry, but if you have played the game you can enjoy what happens… unfortunately, too many of you dopes got drunk in the first half (or in the ‘80’s) and lost sight of that…
Disgusting commentary from Giants fans in mid-September… have some perspective you drunks

For a nearly 100 year old team, the second worse stretch -- especially when it's in the modern NFL, where teams turn it around fast -- is pretty damn bad.
9 out of 10 years of abject failure from 2012-2021 is pretty much equal to 20 years of sucking in the 60s and 70s considering how fast teams can turn it around now. Shit, there wasn't even free agency back then.
maybe because i feel satisfied with the superbowls? i dont know..
Do i want them to win more? hell yeah, is git wremching when they lose? hell yeah
I 100% agree. With the whole political nonsense and the awful Giants football we have been subjected to over the last 7 years or so... I may just pick up overtime next weekend so I have an excuse to miss the game.
I did jump onto the Joe Judge bus right up front and the bus is about to crash. The Giants are losers and he's been around nothing but winning. I thought he could change things but it seems to be going the other way. The coaching staff has regressed to match the rest of the organization. It's football/sports heartbreaking.
The Giants have no idea how to win games. At least they won't lose Sunday.
Frankly, I'm pretty numb to the losing at this point. I don't get how you guys are still so bothered by this, because if that's the case, have you just been miserable for the last 8 years?
This was a tough one tonight.
Gotta admit, when I saw Gates go down I said out holy shit this fucking guy is right on about 2003....Shades of Rich Seubert's injury. And the 2nd game that year, if memory serves was a mind numbing loss to Dallas at the meadowlands...a game the Giants had NO business losing, much like last night.
Jones may be better than Collins. But man, I can't even say it...but you get the point.
Same here. I thought I'd been losing my passion, but I was so into last night's game and I hardly slept at all. I need to step away. This isn't good for me. And as TTB in Roanoke noted in a text to me last night, "I'm not losing any sleep over this. If they can hug and dap each other up, smiling and all, after a loss like this...I'm not going to give a shit anymore, either"
Yep. 40+ year fan here as well. It's just become too much. I can live with bad football, they have been bad most of my life, but the other nonsense is just too much for me.
I refuse to lend my hard earned money to a league that obviously hates me.
It's awful, because I've raised my kids to be fans, and they wont have the same experience I did with my father.
I didn't have to be like this.
If and when the Giants get serious about winning, then I might feel like I should start caring. Until then, they are insulting their fans by having someone as dumb as Gettleman in charge of their team. We owe them nothing.
