Watch ATL on Sunday. They are playing in Tampa. There is a good chance they might get smoked with Tampa coming off ten days rest. So that will very likely put them at 0-2.
And then they have to go back on the road to play us. So they might be just what the doctor ordered to finally get in the win column and we get a little bit of momentum.

Or maybe playing the Giants is just what the doctor ordered for the Falcons.
Garrett actually called a really solid 2nd half last night but shrunk in the end following the turnover. He also got away from the RPO and zone read, which was kicking ass.
If I hear one more time that Graham "would love" to play press man I'm gonna have a seizure. Exactly what is stopping you? It's certainly not the expensive CBs you have who excel in man coverage.
And Judge, for all the tough talk of being a sound and disciplined special teams guru, coaches scared and loses a game on a special teams procedural blunder.
They looked more prepared after they spent an entire offseason on Zoom. I can't even begin to understand what the problem is. We know the roster had some talent deficiencies. But this isn't talent. This is an experienced staff failing to put their players in position to win games.
That could have meant so much momentum going forward, in the manner they lost, is discouraging.
Blackberry s interception put them in position to win. Not allowing Jones a chance to finish this game, a first down wins it, was disgusting.
Having the split second euphoria of the missed fg, turn immediately to the same losing feeling I have had for most games the past 5 seasons, is discouraging as well.
But this is what losing teams do, and right now this losing culture has infected these coaches.
I didn’t really want a quick touchdown on Giants last possession as I had no confidence the defense would still give up the winning score.
But a first down all but clinches that game, and it couldn’t have been handled much worse.
I m more convinced than ever that Jones is the guy, and I don’t believe the season is necessarily over, but I don’t have a lot of confidence they will fix this defense
These coaches talk a good game about getting better, but trot out the same losing philosophy week after week. Playing a zone so soft that it looks like a prevent defense in the red zone, hard to understand
Sorry for the ramble, but no, the season is not over at 0-2, but this sure feels like another bad team at this point.
In 2007 we opened 0-2 and then beat Washington by a hair in week 3 Thank-you Kawika Mitchell.
I do not think we are going to wing the SB this season like we did then but all is not lost.
There was some good things (and bad things) to take away from last night but, we lost.
I said on another thread - Last year (especially towards the end) the defense looked very promising. Last night the Giants offense scored 29 points. That should be enough to win any NFL game. But, now both units have to show up on the field at the same time for the same game. The defense kinda disappointed me last night.
8 of the last 9 years we started 0-2 and all 8 of those years people mentioned the 2007 start ad nauseum. Those 8 years did not play out like 2007 though and most likely this one won't either.
But, it probably is. Looking at the schedule, I think 3-7 is about the absolute top of where they can end up gong into the 1st Eagles game in Week 12. Even with some winnable games in the final 7, where does this team realistically top out? We are looking at no better than another 6 win or MAYBE 7. To me, that's fire everyone territory.

Looking at the pre bye schedule I don’t see how they’re better than 1-7. Then they come right out with Tampa. This team might cap out at 5 wins.
Manning carried that team. But it was not a great team. It encouraged them to keep it together by drafting skill players when they should have blown it up and rebuilt from the inside out. That is what needs to happen now. Gentleman should fired by midsession with them bringing in someone to start dismantling this team and starting over.
Way to take it to a level that not one person suggested. There's a ton of blame right now. Last night was not Dave Gettleman's fault. The coaching staff (which he hired) was the main culprit. So right now we have a big time coaching problem and if it doesnt fix it self quickly, Gettleman will be fired anyways.
But to suggest Judge didnt have a say on who he wants on his team is just stupid. And you know it.

It’s not on Gettleman… except that the coaches he hired were the main culprit… so wouldn’t that be on Gettleman?
Joe Judge doesn’t have the final call on the roster. Gettleman is every bit as responsible for last night as the coaches. This is his team. He built it.
I feel like Judge & Graham have been selling wolf tickets the entire time. They somehow cobbled together a few respectable performances last year and the next thing you know, he's the Black Picasso.
It makes me sick. Right now, it looks like Graham's in over his head. 2 expensive cover CBs and 3 stud S's and he's scared to challenge WRs. As Skinner pointed out this week, he's playing man coverage but still scared of giving up the big play. (Wants to have his cake and eat it too.) So he plays cover 2 man with the CBs 10 yards off the ball. What a clown.
There are some winnable games coming up and the Giants have to win them. As long as they stay with a few games of .500, the season is going to come down to the last 7 games:
Eagles
at Dolphins
at Chargers
Cowboys
at Eagles
at Bears
Washington

If the Giants play like they did last night on offense they're all winnable.
* Panthers should be a win, they're terrible
* Cowboys, especially without Lawrence, is winnable
* I'm not going to just assume that Jameis is an automatic loss.
* Rams and Chiefs are tough but if Giants are putting up 30 points just need the defense to not suck for once

of record written all over it. I just want to know whether Jones is the future from this year. Last night, IMV, is the best game he has played as a Giant.

But the offense looked good against a good defense. For that reason, I'm not writing the season off yet but if they put in a Denver-like performance against Atlanta next week, then I probably will.
It was over when they decided not to play any of the
Starters together in the preseason.. they are only going to win a couple of games when a team doesn’t take the giants seriously or the other team had clinched a playoff spot amd giants will play against backups in late season. This is a 3-14 team imo. I am just upset with how coaches and mgmt allowed the preseason to play out the way it did
And then they have to go back on the road to play us. So they might be just what the doctor ordered to finally get in the win column and we get a little bit of momentum.

On the bright side Jones and the Oline looked pretty decent, but this coaching staff doesn’t put them in any position to win.

Because he retained Judge, Graham, and garrett? Because those 3 are the biggest culprits right now.

When they retained Gettleman. There’s no way this team sees 2-4, look at the schedule they’re looking at 1-8

Who picked the players? The coaches weren’t good yesterday but neither were the players

Are you really suggesting that Judge and his staff doesnt have a say who they want on their team? Come on now.
Fuck the playoffs, can we just win a game in September?
