-Coaching decisions were really a big factor in this game. Way too conservative, as many have said, in play calling on offense and philosophy on defense.
-Really miffed by the defensive play calling. Adoree Jackson pretty much shutdown Dyami Brown, we could have helped Bradberry on McLarin and done some more elaborate blitzes.
-Defensive Line was underwhelming, Leonard Williams was not a factor, which is disappointing since he was going up against Ereck Flowers for the most part.
-We are missing a good edge rusher from this defense right now. Carter/Ximines/Ojulari are certainly better than what we were throwing out there last year, but they are 2nd tier starters in this league. But we emphasized secondary so this should come as no surprise.
-Offensively, however, there is much to be excited about. I though the offensive line really looked good against some really good rushers. Thomas, other than an early sack, really locked down his guy, and Solder did a good job too. Price was shaky early, but got better as the game went along. I thought Hernandez was fantastic in pass protection from what I can see.
-DanieL Jones played a really really good game, maybe the best of his career. There were some fantastic throws that I hadn't seen him make before, like the tight throw to rudolph who looked covered.
-Shepard is a stud, he is a winner, and is probably the best, most reliable player on offense right now.
-Barkley, and i'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt for a few games, but I consider him overrated until proven otherwise. He is still an explosive player, but he just runs soft, he also missed some runs if he had just pivoted and ran in a different direction. But I will chalk it up to rust for a few games before rendering judgement.
-Golladay is going to be a player, he also needs to be given a few games, there were some drops, but he can be a difference maker.
-My take on Washington; Heinecke is not a bad player, he can make the throws, seems to have some toughness, I will give him credit; there offensive line is also better than I thought, certainly better than Denver's seemed to be. I think McClaurin is a big-time weapon, and Gibson is going to be a good back in this league for a while. There defensive line, particularly chase young, seem a bit hyped and not quite as good as advertised, though Jonathan Allen played better than I've ever seen him play. There secondary is average.
-Overall....Giants definitely have talent, more talent than I've seen in years. I also expect them to get better. But they need to learn how to win, it comes down to mentality and getting confident.
I do expect us to knock the shit out of Atlanta, which is probably the worst team in the leaague, perhaps by a significant margin.
I am excited to play Atlanta because we will probably have th emost explosive lineup together finally, and I think what will be our best line in a while. With Engram, Barkley, Golladay, Shepard, Slayton, Toney, and Jones with his running ability, I think we will really take it to them, and if we don't, well that would be very very concerning.
Atlanta fans have about as much reason to hope they will beat the shit out of the Giants as vice versa.
Yes, that throw to Rudolph was tremendous. And I like what I saw from Jones on some plays he would look left, and then he would turn his head and throw right. Nice going through his reads.
His long TD run was awesome….man when he takes off in 4th gear, you are not catching those long legs. That holding call on that TD seemed like bullshit to me. How did it seem to you?
I can’t thank Sexy Dexy enough for moving offsides on that last kick. What an idiot.
Lastly, both of our coordinators should be taken out to the woodshed today and beaten to a pulp…they caused us the game by playing not to lose in the last two minutes. King Graham is no longer untouchable to me now.
They literally played the same game and Heinecke may have slightly outplayed Jones. Yet, Jones was amazing and Heinecke was "not bad"???
He is awesome and reliable….the point was a good point. Of all the things you had to comment on, you picked that one? Weird….

+1, sadly.
Right now the message is let's play not to lose. That must be very inspiring to the team.

I think what you said may be correct and for the first time I’m no longer believing in Judge. I wonder if he is directing Garrett to make those calls, for example, two Barkley runs up the middle for 3 yards. BULLSHIT CALLS!
Does anyone think Andy Reid or Bill Parcells or any great coach would have made those calls? And then call a 5 yard pass on 3rd and 7!
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! I’d rather they have their 3 timeouts with us playing to win instead of playing to get them to use their stupid timeouts.
the defensive play calling was embarrassing. it is also dogmatic in nature-- not adjusting to the game... not recognizing the need to get pressure.... the inability to trick a QB that can be tricked. and the 2 "stud DTs" were pathetic.
do you mean you watched a recording of the game on your DVR or do you mean you dissected something different like the all-22 so you can develop more informed opinions?
Not criticizing, just curious because "watched the tape" seems like a strange way to say I re-watched the game on my DVR (if that's what you did).
Undisciplined, dumb football team not paying attention to detail, cost them in penalties and breakdowns. Hell, the OL played better after Gates broke his leg because they got some new blood in there!
Giants should've won the game, but deserved to lose. This is a trend with bad football teams. And, the overall coaching looks like a young bunch trying to learn how to win in the NFL, same as the players.
McLaurin was running past Bradberry like he was a McLaren
Lol. Yeah ok. Guy is probably the best slot receiver in football right now.
^^ a true lack of understanding. Not surprised.
So you think opposing teams only care about players who can "torch" you on one play?
Shepard's performance is similar to a running back who is not going to break a 70 yard run, but is going to average 6 yards per carry. That is fucking impressive and yeah it would keep a DC up at night

^This.
He is. Think about how quickly some were willing to ditch him because of the perception that Toney plays the same position.
