PFF....wut?

Everyone Relax : 9/17/2021 9:32 am
Somehow our Oline dominated "the best Dline in the league" and this is the grading?

Some bad #Giants PFF notes:

- Billy Price allowed 5 pressures. 28.7 overall grade, 8.7 (!) pass-block.
- Ben Bredeson: 25.0 pass block grade
- Nate Solder: 49.7 overall grade. Matt Peart didn’t play at all.
- James Bradberry allowed 6 catches on 8 targets, 50 yards and 1 TD

Andrew Thomas 43.5 overall

They got pressure and we couldn’t run outside a couple of plays. Certainly no power run game. In the second half it really opened up and the pass blocking improved. Jones looked good with time. Found receivers.

But give them credit on both sides
The OL was not great. The tackles did a great job overall

But the interior was a mess half the night. Jones played exceptional in that area.
I didn't think they looked all that bad,
Bill in UT : 9/17/2021 9:38 am : link
but "dominated"? Really?

I get they werent perfect, but dont these grades essentially indicate practice squad level play? Cant wait to see how Chase Young's 3 tackles add up to a 95 PFF grade. Dude was invisible in the second half.
To be fair

They didn’t get it going until the second half. Jones had no time to throw in the first half. Washington was all over him.

It's all relative ;)
Dominated by NYG Oline standards over the past 7 years.

thing about PFF is not how inaccurate they are, but how everyone in the sports media takes them for gospel.

Yeah, PFF is one of those things where if the information fits my agenda or POV I will use their data.
my best friend who was a college tackle

was saying that a lot of these guys will get minuses in the film review for a lot of plays.
i am guessing that is what filters through on the grading.
i personally felt the line did better then those grades as well.

reality is maybe we should stop sh$tting on Garrett for 1 game-- because the ability of the offense to function was about the scheme improving this week using Jones to run-- rare occasion the giants have helped their OL out

p.s. i still dont like JG
I think it sounds fairly
barens : 9/17/2021 10:08 am : link
accurate. They all struggled, I thought the TE's and RB's did a nice job in helping out at times, but they were overmatched for sure.
If they seperated halves
GNewGiants : 9/17/2021 10:09 am : link
I would wager the second half scores would look a lot better than the first half.

Out of the 4 sacks, I think only 1 was because of the OL. 1-2 were on Jones for holding the ball and the other was just a great blitz pickup.
I am curious
crick n NC : 9/17/2021 10:10 am : link
what happened on a third-down inside of Washington territory. Jones was signaling, late in the cadence, a redskin DB moves to the LOS to potentially blitz from the slot (no one on offense seemed to notice). The ball was snapped, the DB indeed came on the blitz untouched for a sack.

Agreed, two of his first half sacks were entirely his fault as he had open receivers and was in tunnel vision mode.

He did much better in the second half.

Can PFF...
bw in dc : 9/17/2021 10:39 am : link
break that out by half?

Because the OL PP in the second half was very, very good. That's why we got back into the game and took charge...
