Andrew Thomas

There was a ton of panic after the NE preseason game, but I’m very pleased with his play thus far. If he ultimately ends up the long term left tackle, that would be good for the franchise.
i thought he had a bad game last night.

need to see a lot more from him.

He played well. I said to my buddy after the pick when I thought the giants would take advantage of the gift they were given and at least run the clock down after a 1st down amd kick fg with seconds left that Andrew Thomas gets a game ball
I felt

He started off rough last night but maintained his composure as the night wore on.

His false start was truthfully a delay of game because the clock was all ready at :00.

BLOWS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You score 29 points you should win .....
He’s been fine Pass blocking
JoeyBigBlue : 9/17/2021 9:56 am : link
But his run blocking hasn’t been up to par to what it was last year. I’m still confident that he will be the left tackle for the team for the next 10 years.

Some of you fans are a joke. You need to see more from him?
I agree...he's been solid.

But what the coaches said in the off-season was that both Thomas and Peart would emerge as fixtures. Thomas seems to at least be ok. Can he emerge as a top tackle? A #4 should. But it's hard to talk about him without also mentioning that Peart - the supposed bookend is nowhere to be seen now. He was part of the 'we addressed the O-line' narrative. It's still early - but both need to be there and do a decent job.

Yes. I've been pleased with his solid pass protection but he has gotten very little push in the run game.
I think it’s fair to say that he was playing some good football

Last night but also made a few mistakes. He was giving Montez Sweat fits. But Chase Young also put a blistering move on him in the first half leading to a sack.

How can you tell when you have a RB who can’t run to the left?

.

He's not alone in the run blocking, they held up fairly well in Pass Pro against a great defensive front,
not good, great.
Those defensive tackles can wreak holy hell as well...
It was not a good game for him,
barens : 9/17/2021 10:10 am : link
he was getting beat regularly.

No he wasn’t. I keyed on him the entire night and came way extremely impressed.
Yeah, I agree with 2ndround
cosmicj : 9/17/2021 10:24 am : link
He was doing some really good things out there. Sure it wasn’t a perfect game, but it showed energy and talent.
He looks a lot more comfortable
Lines of Scrimmage : 9/17/2021 10:29 am : link
with his feet. I think the run blocking is partly to blame on the scheme at times. What do you expect him to do on that run to his outside? That play seemed to have no chance.
well...

He's a bust because it was declared here in preseason...

never been concerned with him. he'll be a good one.
Thomas was solid

I’m not a fan but he was good enough last night.
There was one running play where it looked
jvm52106 : 9/17/2021 10:58 am : link
like Young beat him and Barkley was stopped but, that was all Barkley. Go back and look at the play. The LG blocks down- to the right and Thomas sets up hard inside (to the right) and basically is letting Young go outside of him to the Left. Barkley didn't force the issue to the side/middle where the blocks were set up and instead jumped quickly (as he often does) to the left and right into Young. That was NOT Thomas's fault.

Chase Young (who he faced on the majority of plays) had 3 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss. As I recall, the "move" Young put on him came as Thomas tried to block Young AND a DB blitzing off the edge who had a free run at Jones.

That's not really a sure thing in the score-at-will NFL anymore. 29 should be a winning score, but it's not really a slam dunk when the league is begging teams to score points.
Thought he had 2 bad plays
Dave on the UWS : 9/17/2021 11:52 am : link
the sack and he failed to block he CB on one wide play later on, but was VERY good otherwise. I'm disappointed Peart didn't get in, but Solder was actually pretty good and he and WH seemed to be working well together, so I get Sale's reasoning there.
