Jones and Slayton were working together to miss the play on purpose so that fans could debate endlessly if the pass was overthrown, if it was a drop, or a little of both.
"You serious, Clark?" Pass rush in his face, makes a throw downfield that hits the receiver IN HIS HANDS. That's way more on Slayton than it is on Jones.
slayton could have caught it. it was not an easy catch- it was a good throw in the circumstance-
i dont even feel like i can get mad at anyone there other then the result.
both guys gave max effort

You've got a photo right there showing you it got his fingertips.
Especially with pressure in his face, I'm surprised Jones got that much on it to overthrow a speed WR going full-steam.
The defense simply could not hold any lead in this game, whether it was 7 points (first half), 6 or 3 points (practically the entire game).
You give up 30 points and 400 yards to Washington?
You're right, unfortunately for the defense, they did get a stop at a crucial time in the game that was not taken advantage of fully. When one unit makes something happen, another unit can't make a play or has a costly miscue.
While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice in it?
Mrs. BBI went to bed early.
She asked me this morning, "what happened?"
That was a fun conversation.
Was it really that bad? I’ve been a fan for 40 years, and I admit, a loss like last night a few years ago would have made me mental. Last night, like so many over the past few years, I said Ehhh and rolled right over in my bed.

Honestly, if this is going to be the absurd argument then maybe we should also criticize Slayton for not getting full arm extension. He's got an inch or two more he could reach out. I mean, it's right there in the picture.
No, though it did hurt.. We still had them late. Judge went into a shell- playing clock when down fistance, momentum etc. all screamed play to get that first down or td and the game is yours..

That's how I saw it. A terrific throw given the rusher in DJ's face, but it would have been a really good catch, but it's a play good teams make.
is Slayton needs to be running full tilt throughout the route, not hit the gas after the pass is released and he realizes it's gonna be a bit long. If he runs throughout the route, he's there for an easier catch. Young player bad habit.

Excellent point Jon that I think a lot of us layman fans don't think of.
Slayton had a mediocre game. I just saw that one again and he
misplayed it. He could have gotten two hands on it. It went off fingertips because he had his hands in wrong spot. Not an easy one but still. He also couldn’t get two feet down on a play we see routinely in the NFL.
they mostly stunk including Graham. They simply cannot get stops when they need them most, and the caliber of the offense isn't even a factor. That's why you see opposing offenses smiling and having a laugh, because they're eating NYG's lunch out there.

What's absurd about that, honestly? I don't think we're taking into account the difficulty of some of these athletic plays we take for granted from the couch.
Also, why are we taking everything so personally? It was a throw under pressure. It wasn't a perfect throw. And that's okay. I'm just happy they even attempted that play.
If you want to see an example of a perfect drop in the bucket, it's the manningham superbowl catch. That hit Mario in the palms.
That was a tough catch. One he probably should make, but it wasn't routine at all.
Good point. It was a good throw under pressure and a good effort by Slayton, who probably was in those unusual situations where the catch probability was 50/50...
people are actually putting blame on jones? talk about an agenda. it was a drop plain and simple. he was wide open, jones delivered a catchable football with plenty of air under it. we have seen players catch way more difficult balls than this. its laughable that anyone doesnt want to kick slayton in his nuts this morning. he clearly dropped it and it killed us. a TD there puts us up 10 is a huge momentum swing, and deflates he skins imo
Speaking of running through- Azeez Oljulari has a horrible habit of stopping in his rush or even out in space and then trying to go again. I saw it multiple times. Young guy or not, he stopped his rush often and then looked to go again but was basically just standing there..
Also, my biggest fear with Leonard Williams is the contract, he now has it and suddenly isn't playing like last year.

I've been very sour on Jones and I still don't think he's a franchise QB (a few more games like last night and against teams that aren't Washington will change my mind).
But it's incomprehensible to lay the blame at his feet last night.
That was probably the second best game I've ever seen him play (better than his 5 TD game against Washington) -- I'd maybe only put his debut against Tampa above it -- and he really shoulders none of the blame for this loss.
He played great and showed moxie, I hope we keep seeing it and I hope he shuts me the fuck up and makes me look like an idiot for doubting him.
I usually think it's really stupid when people call out Jones detractors for having an "agenda" but in this situation, this morning, after this game, I totally agree with you.
and there's QBs that make a better throw in that spot. Maybe a better ofensive line gives Jones time to make a more accurate throw? Maybe we need better players?
we have little to no margin for error, thanks to the shit show defense.
This D was supposed to be good. Maybe even very good. Shit some in that building probably expected great. And it's been bad.
The good teams overcome a few drops. This is a just another normal loss for a normally bad team. Don't overstate the closeness of it. We need to accept that this is a bad team that needs to play nearly perfect to beat a mediocre at best opponent.
Someone said it was fun to watch. Really? Uh, no it wasn't. Giant defense is supposed to be the strength in these parts. Instead it's the weakness. That's awful. Fun to watch my ass.
20-10 NYG win. 23-17 win. God forbid 17-14. That's fun. Then watch the fans bitch because the team is winning ugly, like 2016. We should be so fucking lucky. Where the fuck do I sign up for a 2016 run again. I'd smile throughout the entire playoff loss.
And we all knew it!
Mrs. BBI went to bed early.
She asked me this morning, "what happened?"

I feel Slayton just has to make that catch.
On the other hand, it would have been a very difficult catch of a ball thrown beyond him.
But to have a guy wide open like that, and zilch.
Oh, well, bad things happen to bad teams.

Also I haven't watched the replay but other posters pointed out that he didn't start to run hard until he realized Jones had passed to him.
That's why you ball out every play, even if you are the 3rd or 4th option.

If you score 29 pts in an NFL game you've done plenty to win. The defense was horrid

Agreed. You shouldn't have to score 30+ points to win, especially not against Washington.

Thank you. You see that catch made in the NFL all the time. The drops are noteworthy because they are the rarity.
