Lots of teams go through bad losses. We've had a shitload of them the past 6 years or so. I guess my question is - what are the Joe Judge NYG made of? Do we respond to this in any shape or form (i.e. at Washington win in 2007 in week 3) or do they clam up/fold and basically call it a season after 3 games?
The worst part of last night was that everything we've been complaining about was actually happening in reverse (Jones looking very good, OL protecting well, play calling was going very well...run game was pretty poor but at least it was better....) and then - the defense can't get off the field and we get conservative and play not to lose. When the whole game we had been playing to win it with the aggressiveness. What the actual fuck?
Overall point being: the season is NOT over, but it could be, in short order. I am very shocked that they took the ball out of Jones' hands last night. That's a way to lose a team.
You won't win playing that conservative IMO. I said it before, the organization is fine with losing. It's HOW they lose that matters more. They don't want their much maligned young QB put in a big moment, on a national stage, with a chance to fumble. That makes them look bad.
Do we want to keep this PG rated?
Since 2017 they have the worst record in pro football. And last night proved exactly why.
If they did it because they don’t trust him yet that’s partially on him.
I fear those decisions are made by folks in higher places...
So there is a chance to get a much needed W on the board right away after such a devastating loss.
I think it would be really perilous if the next game was against the Chiefs, Seattle, Rams, etc.

if I’m Jones I’m legitimately mad/pissed off today that the coaches did that to him

It is.
Although Jones was having a good game, in that situation a HC has to consider that his team needed to get at least a FG and his QB has a history of turning the ball over in the red zone.
Remmber that Jones fumbled at the Bronco 11 last week in a key moment. And although the game didn't count, Jones also threw a bizarre INT in the end zone against the Pats the week prior to that..
Again, I would have passed the ball on 2nd down and again on 3rd dwon if necessary, but I think that many NFL HCs would have played it conservatively, like Judge did. Run, run, pass and then (if necessary) kick the go ahead FG. Then worry about stoping them on D.
If the team has stuck with him so far, I'm sure they can somehow make this one work.
If we're inquiring about their mentality? The. Perhaps they "tough it out" and "scrap and battle" themselves to 6 wins. Or maybe they fold like expensive suits and rack up 14 losses.
I don't think it matters much. Nobody on this roster has done anything meaningful or memorable for the Giants. Few, if any, ever will
