Rudolph de-cleats Young on chip block

bigblue5611 : 9/17/2021 12:23 pm
I know a couple people have linked a couple of Baldy's tweets but I felt this needed to be highlighted a little, and something that maybe people could feel a little better about going forward after the game last night.

Rudolph comes off the line and just buries his shoulder into Chase Young and de-cleats him. Two WFT DL just laying on the ground in front of 3 NYG OL standing there wondering what they should do lol.

when you consider the DL vs our OL, i expected jones to be running for his life. say what you want but they had a solid game when you consider two starters were missing and 2 guys were signed 2 weeks ago....

overall, not bad. young looks wildly overrated so far this year.
Go figure

Biggest question marks coming into this year was the OL and the QB. Never thought it'd be the defense that was the biggest disaster.
Agreed

I thought the OL held up pretty well all things considered. Crossing fingers they stay healthy and can build off last night.
Why didn't any of those linemen pile on

And just lay on Young? He comes back into the frame for a potential hustle play.

I believe if you yourself take a guy to the ground you can fall on him and lay there, but I don't believe you're allowed to just jump on a guy when he's already on the ground?

Young plays light. When lineman get their hands on him he is completely neutralized. You dont often see a DE fly 5 feet in the air when hit by TE, regardless of who it is.

Let me preface this with if I knew then what I know now I'd still want Chase Young on my team and wish the Giants had the 2nd pick in that draft.

But...I have seen him play about a dozen times and you nailed it. He is easily blocked. His skill set right now is that he runs like a fast TE. All the plays he makes are in space. Once any OL or TE gets their hands on him he's done. The Chargers ran the ball down his throat. They went right at him and ran all over him.

The camera loves him, his look and minor league fame have made him a media star but he's not a football star yet. Sort of like a certain RB on the field yesterday.
Rudolph and Booker

Monster chips blocks last 2 weeks... IMO this will have effect on opponents DL as season progresses, trying to come around the edge -we will see. Also some very nice pick ups on blitzes last night
It was a great block

but he blindsided him. It's not like he overpowered him straight up.

He just knocked a 270 lb DE two yards into next week. Young flew through the air, he didn't just go down, he flew.

That's the history of this team. We can never be good on both sides. And often years it flip flops. Except during Eli's first 6 or 7 years.

If that's the way you saw it, great. What I saw was a strong shove that used Young's own momentum to unbalance him in the direction he was headed. Great block, regardless.

You are right, I see something completely different. Rudolph is probably just as big as Young.
