This week's defense vs ATL will be telling

Jim in Forest Hills : 9/18/2021 11:49 am
Last week was an utter failure. Backup QB, Samuel out. WAS had a rookie at ORT. We should have really murdered that offense. Double Mclaurin and force Brown and Thomas to beat us all game. Instead Heinicke just kept driving.

If we see the same thing vs ATL, if we see Ryan dink and dunk us to death. If we see soft zones, playing way off until the redzone. 8-10 minute drives keeping our offense off the field. I don't know why we would do that with our back 7 talent but that would tell us the story. Can Graham change this defense?

We should straight up destroy ATL, they are not a good team.
They aren't a good team?

Neither are the Giants. When was the last time they destroyed anyone?

I think this game was one of two ways. Convincing win by double digits or downward spiral straight into hell.
I took Ryan

in my fantasy league and watched most of the eagles game. I will say - he is basically late career Eli level bad in terms of his mobility. He just cannot move in the pocket at this point. Send the house.
Praying Falcons win this week because certainly don’t want to play

another desperate team staring down 0-2. The crazy thing is, only in the NFC East is your season not over at 0-3, but it will definitely feel that way.

I'm not willing to say the Giants are a bad team yet, every season is a marathon. But 3 weeks in, we should start to see a clearer focus. Beat ATL decisively.
I heard he threw a touchdown in a game a few years ago

Better keep the safeties back at 20 yards.

It feels like the Giants have already arrived.

He won't have to move, just go to three step throws (to take advantage of the soft zone) and run at the edge (which is swiss cheese soft at this point). This defense scares no one. I expect the Falcons to score early and often. The Eagles put pressure on Ryan...where are the Giants getting pressure from?

Hopefully, Jones keeps up with Matt Ryan, as the Falcons Defense is trash, but our best players keep making critical mistakes at crunch time.
Ryan will throw for 400 yards

The Giants don’t have a pass rush and they run a shit zone.
After we beat Seattle last year

The code was cracked. They cowpukes just couldn’t do anything about it. If we soft zone him, he won’t have to be great. He can be mediocre and shred us. Their defense is fast but they suck so 27-24 Birds.
Kyle Pitts concerns me

They historically suck at stopping TE's. With that all said, it's a 10 wait for the next game. I hope these 10 days are used in intense practice and self reflection and hopefully any internal issues would get resolved and any game planning will have us prepared for the Falcons. The offense looked better against a supposedly better WFT defense so hopefully that continues trending up while I hope Graham fixed whatever is wrong with the defense.

I was just about to ask about that; how do you defend against someone like him? My thought was to have a guy who's good in coverage dog him throughout the game, say Carter or Cam Brown (since Sy says he's good in coverage) once he comes back from his hamstring.
Ryan can still win with time
Carl in CT : 9/18/2021 4:11 pm : link
You better pressure him
Ryan’s better than the last two guys who carved us up
trueblueinpw : 9/18/2021 6:25 pm : link
Not sure why anyone’s confident in the Giants defense against a guy who’s been among the top QB1s in the NFL. And sure, Atlanta sucks. But, don’t we suck too?
With the QBs coming up
Dave on the UWS : 9/18/2021 6:35 pm : link
this defense needs to tighten in a hurry or the offense will have to score 40 to win any game
