Patience is needed ... Oh we've been waiting patiently
Not really. I have seen more people saying they want to move on from Jones and start over then those saying the opposite.
Jones biggets issue was/is his fumbles but objectively he is getting better at that and if he fixes that issue completely he is a starting Qb in the league. How good is TBD.
Young QB struggle in the NFL . Patience is very much needed
Wilson is playing in his second game of his NFL career. Burrow is playing in his 12th. Both were drafted by the worst teams in the NFL (and psoters complain about Jones' offensive line). Jones just played in his 28th on a team that just spent 200+ million on players. Let's be just a little bit objective, shall we.
Jones is in the beginning of his 3rd season. He is still a young QB in the league .
And newsflash...Jones was drafted by the absolute worst team in the NFL record wise the last 5 years. Let's be a little objective how bad this team personnel has been and continues to be
But yeah this team has sucked ass for 9 years, despite you guys not liking basic numbers that prove this.
Jones did play a good game vs Washington, that's for sure but what's he now? 8-19 as a starter? 8-20? It's not as if it's hard to score points in the NFL, with Jones, they haven't been able to do much scoring.
Then again, I'm sure if that number was 8-42 as a starter you'd still be telling us we need to be patient and how it logically takes 12 years to rebuild when at the same time, teams who were bad for a year or two make it to the playoffs and Super Bowl while we wait for the Giants to reach .500.
I really think it’s the crowning of guys. And Jones has never looked as bad as Burrow has today and his TEAM is still in it. And when he eventually wins this game the same people that shit all over Jones will praise Burrows gutsy performance.
hammered Sermon helmet to helmet. Looked bad for the kid.
Quoting his record while at the same time including the latest loss which by all objective standards was not on him, if anything he was their best player Thursday demonstrates the folly of using won loss record when evaluating a quarterback
Archie Manning is probably one of the all time losing quarterbacks, but by many standards he was pretty good
I don’t understand what the 49ers defense was doing that
I really think it’s the crowning of guys. And Jones has never looked as bad as Burrow has today and his TEAM is still in it. And when he eventually wins this game the same people that shit all over Jones will praise Burrows gutsy performance.
Burrow generally looks better than Jones. Much better. Nobody in the NFL would give you Burrow for Jones.
I really think it’s the crowning of guys. And Jones has never looked as bad as Burrow has today and his TEAM is still in it. And when he eventually wins this game the same people that shit all over Jones will praise Burrows gutsy performance.
Anybody that gets drafted that high is going to be "crowned" as you say. The guy had a legendary college run. Every #1 overall gets a lot of media attention. Media went nuts over Jones after the Tampa game in year 1. If the warts hadn't shown in his game they'd still be on him.
and there are less than 5 QBs who we can say consistently play well. All of the rest struggle at times and some more than others due to the usual factors (pieces around them and coaching).
There are 8 or so that are mostly great. Sure they may have a couple of bad games but they are mostly great.
I think you are throwing the word "great" around willy nilly my friend.
I am going to reserve the term "great" when referring to QBs who are CURRENTLY PLAYING AT a HALL OF FAME LEVEL.
I think you need to step it down to "very good" for some of the guys you may be referring to.
Let's not lower the bar on greatness.

The guy's point was that QB play quality is bad. And my point is that there are a lot of excellent QBs. There is never 8 QBs playing at a Hall of Fame level. So if that's your standard then there are only 4right now. But generally QB play is better than ever before. and Daniel Jones is out of that conversation of best -8/10. Far out of it.
Going for it on 4th was smart, that play though was not.
I disagree on that series. If they had goal to go and gained forward yardage on the first three plays then yeah, I can see going on 4th. Say from the 8 to the 5 to the 3 or 2.
That wasn’t the case though as they basically didn’t get anything out of those first three downs. To me, when you don’t do squat on the first three plays I don’t know what makes a coach thinks he can do anything on the 4th try. I would’ve taken the three in that circumstance.
but the hate on him can enter over the top category. I feel like a lot of us underestimate just how good of a rookie season Daniel Jones had. Lots of turnovers for sure but just on offensive production, it was definitely one of the best ones in modern history. Jones has been better than Burrow since entering the league and yet look how different the narratives are between the two. If Jones has never had as bad of a game as Wilson and Burrow had today, if he did, BBI will riot, maybe shut down.

Than you make them drive the length of the field. A 6-0 lead does nothing for your team psychologically. The Eagles defense gave up a ridiculous drive after that, but that’s not the point. When you have a chance to go up an extra possession you always take it.

you are overrating Jones' rookie season. It was not some phenomenal record breaking season. Passing stats are way up in this era. Herbert thrashed Jones' numbers a year later. Burrow was better than Jones in his rook season.

Agree to disagree.
Like I said they didn’t do anything with the first three downs so I would’ve taken the points. It wasn’t like they had three solid gains and moving closer. They were stuffed three times in a row.
It was early and just tacking on points and coming away with something would’ve been a positive.
To me it’s almost like going for two early or when you don’t have to. You miss and you always seem to be chasing those points.
We just have a different take on it and no biggie. Either way I’m glad they didn’t get any points and took one on the chin today.
I think last year also Jones had almost all of his TDs when we went out of 11 personnel and most of his INTs when there were 2 or more TEs on the field. The year before under Shurmur, Jones had 24 passing TDs in 12 games and Shurmur ran 11 personnel like 85% of the time.
You let Jones spread the ball out, have options of going deep and underneath on the same play and he looks like a very competent QB.
hammered Sermon helmet to helmet. Looked bad for the kid.
That Eagles team are a bunch of cheapshot dirtbags. I hope that scumbag gets a suspension, or the Eagles get fined big time for that hit. I hate that team more than any team in pro sports.

Okay, compare Jones’ rookie numbers to Burrows and the rookies.

I agree 100%, I could never root for the Eagles or Cowboys players in any way!
Honestly this could be a game but their coach is an idiot. That defense is really bad though.
