overvalued ala the Yankees, but this year actually getting favorable lines and futures on them. I still think they can turn it around. Lots of tape now to show what the coaches are doing is costing games. Hopefully they adjust. Had us 0-2 on the way to a successful season, but man even if they won that WFT game, I’d be questioning that projection.
aren't we the most experienced now that Cleveland is winning?
Beside being from the area, which is pretty negative/skeptical, when you lose as much as the Giants do, the fan are virtually professional negativits....
Is different than fan bases which largely disappear when things are going bad. Curious how we would rate in the fair weather fan category which I consider more important,

Yeah agree. We are probably one of the most dedicated fan bases in all of sports.
Why aren't you more positive when your team is the laughingstock of the entire league, has been a loser for a decade, and has the worst record in the league for 3 straight years?!
Good. Since February 2012, can you think of many good memories? Maybe the Seattle game?
Being optimistic is one thing and thats fine. Actually no, no it isn't. It's actually very stupid and shows your brain doesn't work. I really don't understand what those people get from pretending that they actually think a bottom 10 roster team is going anywhere.
Fishing for the first win in mid-october is a common problem associated with this team. I mean I could see that happening maybe one year as a fluke or something but almost every single fucking year? Let's hurry it up.

If we were good you'd have 1 less thing to complain about which would really suck for you. So you should thank the Giants.
Be honest. Several would still be negative even with wins. Some just thrive off negativity.
Because part of being a fan is wanting more from your team, and wanting it every year.
Fans of a losing team want one with a winning record.
Fans of one with a winning record want a playoff team.
Fans of a playoff team want a Super Bowl team.
Fans of a Super Bowl team want them to do it again.
Be honest. Several would still be negative even with wins. Some just thrive off negativity.
Not really. There is a difference between getting irked after a loss with a 10-2 record and just being toilet bowl water every single year that never gets replaced.
Again with this weird thriving off of negativity theory and" looking for reasons to be mad" reach. Nah. It's pretty cut and dry why everyone is negative. The team sucks. The numbers prove it.
Take 2016 for example, yeah, the Giants had a respectable record most of the season but still, watching the offense not score many points all year was worrisome.
You do know you're allowed to think for yourself or notice things? Right?
Also Uconn. Let's stop saying "if the Giants were good" and let's actually reach that utopia before we can add to that endless list of things you're incorrect about.
Also yeah. I'm sure none of you complained, or were worried, or annoyed during, or minutes after that Vikings game in the regular season with all the pick-six's.
All perfect little angel, trooper, super fans. Not one negative thing to say.
I tell you. I wasn't even the star of that party for Thanksgiving 2007 weekend. Uncle Doug lol
that BBI activity is up during losing seasons. We’re all just bunch of whiners.
There is nothing surprising about this. In a winning season, the day after the game we can say Yay, I love it, so and so looked good, and also so and so, I think we can win next week. Not much of substance after that. In a losing season, everybody will chime in about what they think went wrong, in depth analysis of everyone's technique, breaking down the play calls, the coaching philosophy, the players' attitudes, strategy, who should be let go, next years draft, and on and on. Just more to talk about.
HAAHAHA!!! Love it!!!
Seriously, we got traffic, high cost of living, traffic, high taxes, tolls, traffic, shitty roads, snow, traffic, and rain and thats before we get to the piece o' crap stadium we SHARE with another shitty team and watch our perennially bad team take a massive dump on the field. Like we want to stay for 3 hours of that crap?!
where they went to the playoffs and got immediately dismissed.
Even in 2007 and 2011, the team went 10-6 and 9-7, not exactly dominant. The only year I can recall lately where the Giants were dominant were 2008, and that team lost in the first round to the fucking Eagles because our best WR shot himself.
So yes, I am negative about this team. I do not think the right people are in place to manage this team back to greatness, and what's more, the people making the decisions about who to hire are stuck in 50s. I wish it wasn't so.

People like to complain and everyone thinks they have the answer. But no one can actually do anything about it except tell everyone else they are wrong and stupid and delusional. Of course the traffic spikes, too many egos.
Bad news is always good news - that has stood the test of time.

This is a great example of Giant fan idiocy and why a lot of this has nothing to do with the last 4 seasons.
They won 2 Super Bowls in a 4 year period...but hey! They weren't "dominant"!
I've had more arguments about Eli Manning's achievements with Giants fans than I have outsiders. My Dad is a Jets fan and my father in law is a Cowboys fan and they would have bent over backwards to have Eli at QB for their team. To many other NYG fans he's JAG who "got lucky twice".
For those experts and the level-headed crowd who spends time saying people like to complain just to complain...
What on earth have you seen from this franchise that makes you not have a negative outlook for everythinf that has transpired since 2012? Any games? Particularly good moments? Favorite coaches? Being all but eliminated from playoff contention by Halloween almost every year? Going 6-10 last year? Evan engram? Getting blown out? shut out? Hail mary against Green Bay?
Hmm? Please. Convince me and others that we're all just making this up.

I enjoyed those seasons as much as any Giants fan, and did my share of talking some sh_t before/after those Super Bowl wins.
But not sure how times I used the word "dominant" in describing them. That sounds misplaced.
people forced to eat shit sandwiches for 10 years really hate the taste of shit sandwiches.
I don't know. There are still people telling us to enjoy it.
It's going to taste better any week now, really
wasn't it ten years ago that the Giants won a SuperBowl? Maybe you just need a different food truck?
Man the bar is so low. A championship ten years ago is worth a decade of garbage?
I would trade another SuperBowl this year for another 10 years after of what we just had. Maybe that is just me though. If you don't win the Superbowl you are just Marty Schottenheimer Chief's in the late 80s-90s.
The Giants didn't trade these ten years to win the Super Bowl in 2011.
It's possible to follow up a successful year with complete ineptitude. We know this because the Giants are doing it. It's ok to observe and call out ineptitude. Living in fantasy land doesn't make one a better fan.

It was a question about negativity. Even during those years we won the Super Bowl, how fun was the year? In 2007, we had the Viking game and got housed by the Cowboys twice. Yes, the super bowl made up for it but its not like that whole year was fun.
But hey, I'll keep paying for my season tickets. You have fun arguing with your friends about Eli.

Winning a SB every year maybe, but it's possible to win a SB and then ya know still be good after too even without repeating. This stretch of futility has used up the goodwill from the 2011 Superbowl.
who think they will be good every year. I give a chuckle and move on. Or I can lecture them incessantly about how stupid they are, because that’s also very productive.

Unfortunately you could substitute the Giants for the Jets in that sentence and it would still be applicable. Both of these teams being non-competitive year in and year out is something that almost doesn't need to be said.
In the grand scheme of things, we have been fortunate as Giants fans. This century alone...3 Super Bowl appearances & 2 UFB Super Bowl wins. The last decade's been tough, but hopefully JJ is the guy moving forward. Hope springs eternal?
I couldn’t care less, my point remains. Lecturing people all day long about an opinion, especially for a game, is pretty sad after a while. It’s why people think others enjoy it, because they do. And misery loves company.
Or maybe they are just sharing their opinion as a fan, even with some
intent. What’s sad is downplaying that as meaningless just because it doesn’t change how the team plays, or that fans express opinions with a purpose to call others just plain stupid.
Lecturing people about not lecturing is really where it’s at.

Bad news is always good news - that has stood the test of time.
And then the ones that only want to hear only positive of their team resort to insults calling other posters miserable fucks and make up things like posters that have had common sense realizing the team would suck actually are rooting for their team to lose.
In other words with these posters that if you don't root for the team the way I want you to - you are a miserable fuck. And then I'm going to make up some fantasy like the one that disagrees with my optimism means they want their team to lose.
"fair weather". Yea, I don't think he's using that right. We have been losing for 8 years now and doing so dreadfully in all of them. If not for facing a string of backup qbs in 2 seasons, our record would be super pathetic. The lone exception is 2016, but that offense was so bad you felt that any team could beat them. We go into the game being negative at this point. Losing doesn't move the needle much.
You want fair weather fans. Look to teams that have been competitive or winning and then want to blow the whole thing up after a loss. I live outside of philly. If any team meets that criteria, it's the eagles. In the last 20 years, they've only had 5 losing season (2 of them being 7-9 and one with Mike fricking McMahon at qb for half the year). Yet there's never been a coach or qb they didn't want to run out of town besides saint buddy...
But it doesn't puzzle you that posters that are more optimists insult other posters for example by calling them "miserable fucks?"
Generally those insults are due to being pushed.
When a fan posts something on the forum about how they really like(d) something and a good conversation gets hijacked by a myriad of angry Karen’s still trying to figure out if they should leave their boyfriends…
…”miserable fuck” sits just about right.

Crisis? Oh wow ok.... This is the NFL...things change fast. Our Defense gets back on track and we will start winning and if we don't we have two 1sts next year with probably a new GM. Negative people always say I am not negative I am a realist... Well Realistically we either improve this year or we have a lot of ammo next year to make us better. Most of our good talent is locked up for multiple years and we add to it. You guys get freaking crazy and act like your are some super fan because you are "calling it like you see it" and "this team sucks for so long we get to be mad!"
Bro it is the NFL, where the difference between making the playoffs and not making the playoffs is usually a few plays in a few games. That is the whole truth of it. Offsides on a missed FG? one play that changed a 1-1 start. If you can't handle it maybe this isn't the sport for you.

Couple of things:

Yeah, and a lot of that was Andy Reid who is proving again out in KC how good he is. It's a shame that when they ran him out of town there wasn't an opening here.

Would have been particularly sweet to see him leading the Giants to beatings of the Eagles on the regular.

We've had ammo to get better for years, and this roster is still terrible.
It doesn't matter how many draft picks you have if the people making the picks are incompetent. We've had 6 first round picks since 2018, and we didn't do a good job with a single one of those picks (maybe Lawrence...but I'm not even sure about him).
Absolutely a state of crisis.
Terps has been spot on with this team for a very long time
they've had too many misses with premium resources, and that doesn't just apply to the Gettleman regime, which suggests that the fish rots from the head down.
Luckily I'm not 13 anymore and live and die by the Giants, but I'm still stinging after really bad losses. For example, outside of this message board, I haven't consumed any Giants content since Thursday night.
I couldn’t care less, my point remains. Lecturing people all day long about an opinion, especially for a game, is pretty sad after a while. It’s why people think others enjoy it, because they do. And misery loves company.

So help me understand the difference...
If it is pointless to lecture someone that their team actually sucks, why is it not pointless to lecture someone that their team is awesome?

And if we don't get called offsides on the last play of the game... would it still be an "Absolute STATE OF CRISIS!!!" AHHHHHH HELP ME... hahaha
Last year we were a few plays in a few games from being in the playoffs... Actually in most years the last 10 years we were a few plays in a few games from being on the playoffs. This year we were literally one stupid play from being 1-1 and leading our division. Again... I don't think the NFL is for you bro. To stressful.

Point 1- I specifically used the word “generally.” “Generally” does not mean “all.”
Point 2- Posts in which people post something positive and then get upset at the poster who sends something negative and wind up calling that poster a miserable fuck means they don’t agree with the poster, “generally,” correct? Insults are “generally” thrown out for a reason. It is generally a disagreement in some form.
Point 3—If the positive poster doesn’t agree with the negative poster and before the personal insults the positive poster unleashes, that positive poster “generally” provides excuses why the negative poster is wrong or the positive poster defends his excuses why he is being positive.
Point 4—I did put a slash as an indication you may or may not be with strong belief that you are an excuse maker. If you’re calling posters “miserable fucks” for specifically classifying positive posts as “good conversation.” So when people are being positive it is “good conversation.” And when they are negative it is “They are miserable fucks.” Ofc the positive posters who by the way have been wrong the past several years look to push positives on a team filled with 7 of 8 year awful football- then yeah you and others are excuse makers.
Point 5—I tied your post into joeinpa’s post because just as you seem to speak of “good conversation” inferring good conversation is “positive posts.” Joeinpa inferring that the negative posters shouldn’t be so concerned with how other posters feel about them which apparently he is implying the negative posters do. Yet he doesn’t ever seem to call out by name like he did with route9 and bw for the nutjobs that think it’s okay to call the negative posters “miserable fucks.” How often do you think joe calls out a positive poster by name?
He looks and implies one way – which apparently you do too. Just because you want to pretend that you are above-it-all; your posts speaking of “good conversation” (whose to say what “good conversation” is?”) and “miserable fucks” show quite the opposite.
not all pessimism and negativity is met with “miserable fucks”. Just those posters that deserve it. I don’t need anyone to agree with me on sports and I also don’t spend every waking minute trying to convince others that my opinion is correct. Those that do are generally pretty negative about any and everything (not just giants football I might add) - those are the miserable fucks and there’s a gaggle of them on this board. They typically can’t hold a football conversation very well because they are far too concerned with letting everyone know their prediction of the giants sucking came true, it’s the only reason the show up on a thread. I wish I had a cookie to virtually send those guys (or gals) it might cheer them up a bit. Or maybe not, because cookies might actually suck too.
Excuses are a funny thing. Negative people use the as much as positive people.
If the OL struggles are an excuse for DJs poor play than 15-35 is an excuse for a lack of decorum and a good attitude.
Maybe “good conversation” is indeed poor wording. Let’s go with “conversation about the good.”
That way, when you see it and you (generally speaking) feel the need to tell these happy fucks that they should be miserable fucks….you’ll know (again…generally speaking) to step off?!

I'm not talking about everyone.
Secondly, I'm not sure who you are referring to about "every waking minute trying to convince . . ." It seems like what you're saying to some degree is "Those that look at positive are not trying to convince anyone, yet those that are negative are trying to convince everyone with ever waking minute."
Third- "who holds a conversation well" is subjective, isn't it? Generally, isn't there a tendency to believe those that "hold a conversation well" are those that agree our opinion?
Fourth- while you say you wish you had a cookie to send, but I feel the way some talk on here - jokingly - I wonder if they wear a cheerleading skirt while watching each game.
Excuses are a funny thing. Negative people use the as much as positive people.

😎
Then when someone posts about "the good" can't there be conversation that maybe it's not good or post some counter that there is "bad?" What's wrong with hearing oppising views?
The way YOU should SEE IT- is to recognize that there is going to be counter opinions a lot for positive posters when the team sucks. And that doesn't mean the negative posters look upon the positive posters as "miserable fucks."
There comes an invention/ illusion from some positive posters that because they are negative then they are illogical. So just because there is a disagreement some people make comments like "You would rather be right on here and watch the team lose." This is so nutty. What kind of a nut would think that? A person is a fan all their life (assuming ofc the poster is a Giants fan), and he has his name here anonymously, he is is going to spend over 3 hours with his free time hoping they will lose so he can post anonymous about it?
being overwhelmingly positive really shouldn’t bother anyone. Giants, parenting, exercise, diet, etc. yes those people can be preachy but it really shouldn’t bother you. I can’t say the same for pessimism - I cut those people out of my life because they are a drag and their goal is to make you miserable too. Life is too short to complain all the time but maybe that’s just me.
I get along well with many here that I typically don’t agree with (BW, Christian, and a few others). But there are others who’s only goal is to stir the pot, not offer any actual insight, and really just like being assholes. Those people are the miserable fucks.

We disagree.
There are some threads that a regurgitation of well known takes on a topic are not necessary. In fact, they have become combative and confrontational...
I am avoiding the "Crisis" thread for that reason. My opinion is not necessary.
If someone starts a thread about how DJ is playing really well and they're excited about the next game, there is no need for someone that has made their dislike for DJ well known over the past 12 month, to chime in with a comment on how he still sucks and that he's at best, he's a back up QB.
Maybe we need one thread each week for random Happy Fucks. Just one thread for those who want to discuss what they like about the teams performance.

What some of the happy F's don't seem to realize is that you're NOT required to make a reply to that person who's made their dislike about Jones known so well. And yet, they do and the whole thread train wrecks.
The posting about posters is far worse than the negative posts about Jones
It really comes down to not giving fans a hard time about them criticizing the team and not giving fans a hard time about wanting to express their hope or positive perspective. There are certainly those that do not approach topics with reason on both sides, but probably best to ignore those while selecting to communicate with those that can share ideas.

Build you BBI filter, can't recommend it enough. BBI is much more enjoyable with it turned on.
If it's ok to shit on the team, it's ok to shit on the fans.
Then the Happy Fs ar just as responsible for derailing threads and have no room to complain about it
Certain, both sides are responsible enough that neither side can claim higher ground. If fans want to have a thread to complain about the Giants, fine. If other fans want to talk about what they see as positives about the team, fine.

Unconn, I do for the most part. I see names that I know it is best to skip over; I don't mean posters that i disagree with, but those that do not show much interest in listening to contrary POV's. I have rarely got into squabbles over here, and try to keep the peace.

People who are positive and enjoy the team even though the team is not doing what they would like them to do or not missing something.
I get excited Sunday morning no matter what I have a good understanding of what the team is capable of and where the team will likely be at the end of the day.
That is a prognosticator but I’m well aware that the team has deficiencies as our I think most of the people who remain positive.
I’m not gonna learn anything from somebody telling me for the 425th time the Daniel Jones should be a back up.
I’m not going to learn anything from someone telling me that you don’t take a running back at number two.
I’m not going to learn anything from somebody telling me for the 321st time that the general manager doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing.
Discussion about the pros and cons of a play a player or anything else related to Football should not only be OK but should be expected.
There are not two sides to this… there are miserable people who want to bring you down and there is everybody else.

well you probably see this on every sports message board dedicated to a single franchise. At the risk of being reductive you have some people who accept management's decisions, sometimes critically sometimes uncritically, and go with the flow of the franchise. Maybe this type of fan identifies with the franchise beyond just a team. It's like family. They are satisfied to stick with the team through thick and thin.
And maybe there is another kind of fan that feels an urgency to identify troubles and discuss them in the hopes of figuring out what the team can do. Maybe they are more analytical.
Surely, these two types of fans could co-exist and maybe should co-exist and interact in the hopes of learning from each other.
The Giants actually bring you down but you don't like to read

We agree.
I believe there’s a place on the form for being critical, I believe there’s a place on the board for being angry, I believe there’s a place on this board for losing your fucking mines that this shit has been going on this fucking long.
I also believe that there’s a place on this board for fans to have conversations about what they really like what they’re enjoying where they think the franchise is going without having the conversation interrupted by unhappy people.
I’m not telling anybody to stop being critical stop being harsh stop being pissed off…
… i’m asking them to choose their spots.
I think the board would be happy to offer them 90% of the threads but can 10% be reserved for something different?

I'm sure. But it's a fairly open community and people are going to do what they feel. Sometimes folks can't filter themselves. This goes for the people who slag the team and for people who slag the slaggers. So there is no system to limit the negativity. We are all adults with free will. We can choose to ignore posts that we don't agree with or we feel cross a line.

Some, sure. But those I now ignore have absolutely nothing interesting to say. Their POV isn’t productive and it isn’t worth my time.
Giants have started the season 0-2, how many times?
0-5 how many times?
of course we are negative
Beside being from the area, which is pretty negative/skeptical, when you lose as much as the Giants do, the fan are virtually professional negativits....
Yeah agree. We are probably one of the most dedicated fan bases in all of sports.
Who woulda thunk it?
Why aren't you more positive when your team is the laughingstock of the entire league, has been a loser for a decade, and has the worst record in the league for 3 straight years?!
LOL. Good post.

If we were good you'd have 1 less thing to complain about which would really suck for you. So you should thank the Giants.
I don't know. There are still people telling us to enjoy it.
Gettleman took over a team one year removed from the playoffs and turned it into the worst team in the NFL.
So yeah, not only am I not surprised that the fans are negative, I also don't blame them.
They just happen to root for the very worst team in the NFL.
Right?
I'd be willing to test your theory, if only the Giants gave us the opportunity.

wasn't it ten years ago that the Giants won a SuperBowl? Maybe you just need a different food truck?
Yeah you're the guy who just automatically accepts that any opinion that disagrees with yours equates to complaining. Lol.
We've gone over this before many times, dude, and ... you just like shitty movies and boring shows.

Man the bar is so low. A championship ten years ago is worth a decade of garbage?
I distinctly remember a lot of fans calling the Giants "lucky" in 07.
A lot of fans were down on Eli from day 1.
There is a subset of the fan base that is negative no matter what.
All perfect little angel, trooper, super fans. Not one negative thing to say.
I tell you. I wasn't even the star of that party for Thanksgiving 2007 weekend. Uncle Doug lol

Haha, expect nothing less. I actually enjoy your posts, they brighten my day. Keep them coming!

+1, particularly regarding movies.
It's really is a good question.

I would trade another SuperBowl this year for another 10 years after of what we just had. Maybe that is just me though. If you don't win the Superbowl you are just Marty Schottenheimer Chief's in the late 80s-90s.
It's possible to follow up a successful year with complete ineptitude. We know this because the Giants are doing it. It's ok to observe and call out ineptitude. Living in fantasy land doesn't make one a better fan.
NYG since the boat picture: 18-49
NYG under Gettleman: 15-35

Sure... winning every year would be amazing!! of course that sounds more like Fantasy land than what I said.

NYG since the boat picture: 18-49
NYG under Gettleman: 15-35
Team has been inept since October 2012.

It's possible to follow up a successful year with complete ineptitude. We know this because the Giants are doing it. It's ok to observe and call out ineptitude. Living in fantasy land doesn't make one a better fan.

Winning a SB every year maybe, but it's possible to win a SB and then ya know still be good after too even without repeating. This stretch of futility has used up the goodwill from the 2011 Superbowl.

I don't know. There are still people telling us to enjoy it.
No one is telling you to enjoy it. Some complain about your relentless negativity, they shouldn’t, really not their concern.
I don’t care how other fans approach being a fan., it continues to puzzle me why you, route 9, bw and a few others do.
And some would be here telling us the team is close to going on a run if we dropped 10 straight, all by more than 20 points.
The extreme ends on BBI are two sides of the same stupid coin.
Unfortunately you could substitute the Giants for the Jets in that sentence and it would still be applicable. Both of these teams being non-competitive year in and year out is something that almost doesn't need to be said.
Lecturing people about not lecturing is really where it’s at.

People like to complain and everyone thinks they have the answer. But no one can actually do anything about it except tell everyone else they are wrong and stupid and delusional. Of course the traffic spikes, too many egos.
Bad news is always good news - that has stood the test of time.

That's a load of crap. It's common though. Posts that people like you/they make are generally the same type of excuses you/ they make about the team too. They all go hand in hand.

Excuses? This has got to be the most misunderstood word on BBI.
Couple of things:
- Nothing in my post suggests anything about excuses. Karen shows up when Giants fans are trying to enjoy things.
- "People like me" - What excuses did I make? Pick ANY post...you make it sound like I am doing something regularly that in fact, I don't do.
They're 15-35 since Gettleman was hired. When do those fast changes start to happen?

Luckily I'm not 13 anymore and live and die by the Giants, but I'm still stinging after really bad losses. For example, outside of this message board, I haven't consumed any Giants content since Thursday night.

- "People like me" - What excuses did I make? Pick ANY post...you make it sound like I am doing something regularly that in fact, I don't do.
My apologies but do we disagree often? I don't remember much.
😎

We already have those. They are typically labeled "NGT", and a good place for you to enjoy your random happiness.

What some of the happy F's don't seem to realize is that you're NOT required to make a reply to that person who's made their dislike about Jones known so well. And yet, they do and the whole thread train wrecks.
The posting about posters is far worse than the negative posts about Jones

Certain, both sides are responsible enough that neither side can claim higher ground. If fans want to have a thread to complain about the Giants, fine. If other fans want to talk about what they see as positives about the team, fine.

It really comes down to not giving fans a hard time about them criticizing the team and not giving fans a hard time about wanting to express their hope or positive perspective. There are certainly those that do not approach topics with reason on both sides, but probably best to ignore those while selecting to communicate with those that can share ideas.

I agree, you're clearly not going to learn anything.

I think the board would be happy to offer them 90% of the threads but can 10% be reserved for something different?

being overwhelmingly positive really shouldn’t bother anyone.
Maybe these folks who have a different opinion than you have something to offer and you aren't considering an alternative pov. I'm not sure but it may be a possibility.

We agree.

A precedent has been set for controlling what is talked about.
It won’t change…

Some, sure. But those I now ignore have absolutely nothing interesting to say. Their POV isn’t productive and it isn’t worth my time.
