Cam Fleming vs. Nate Solder

CMicks3110 : 9/22/2021 8:42 am
after two weeks, have you guys seen a significant improvement at the RT position so far?
Not sure

but Solder was better this week from last week. I suspect that as the two years of rust shakes off he will be better.

Duggan was saying this week he thought Solder had a solid game against WFT

Pass pro, Solder is better. Just haven’t seen anything at all in the run game yet
He has to be doing something

Peart is supposed to be the starter. Maybe it's not just that Peart is flopping, maybe Solder can hold up.
Also, a seasoned Vet can calm the rest of the babies

Solder can offer support to Thomas and the other young guys.

I.wonder if Peart can.play inside?

The Giants seem to be following that line of thinking since Peart is taking snaps at guard.

if we got to start asking questions like that, we in big trouble again with this O line.
as Sy pointed out

Solder was better last week, but required almost constant help

Solder needs a TE basically full time in pass pro, and gets no movement in the run game.

The sooner Peart can develop the better.
Peart

He will get practice snaps at guard due to his athleticism and knowledge of the offense. He isn't a guard though.

Solder is still rounding into shape but I think the peak will be short. I don't envision him being able to last the whole season so Peart better be ready.

We knew Peart would have his ups and downs. Not playing right at all in Washington was the down. Hopefully by mid-year he is playing a lot and we can determine if he is the guy moving forward or not. It is way too early to right him off.

To answer the question though... What I was not happy with regarding Fleming is he seemed to have a lot of mental errors. Solder hopefully will be better than that but there will be times physically where he just can't get it done.
Not so sure

Peart cannot be a guard. Who was the big OSU tackle in the Parcells era (Roberts?) that failed at both tackle spots, yet ended up as a very good guard?

Anyway, yes a 6'7" a bit tall, but he can overpower DTs in the middle. The guard training also keeps him engaged - no time to mope. I actually like the idea.
Kevin Gogan was 6'7" and a pretty good guard

William Roberts would be the dream scenario
I hate the Peart guard projection for many reasons

. I think he's probably best suited at left tackle than anywhere else, but that's just me. The reps at guard are more to do with the fact there is no backup there right now should either of the starters go down. They need to prepare for disaster scenarios.

Ultimately though, I think Peart has it all to play tackle in the league eventually. He is good in pass pro once he keys in on his defender, but much like Thomas's early struggles has whiffed far too often. There's hope for him yet.
Seems to me. OT and ER

Are our two first rd picks
Seems to be a lot of talent in top 15 between the two
Hoping for 2 cornerstones
