and he wants a new head coach, I wouldn't mind Joe Brady. I know his offensive scheme is different from Garrett and many scheme "continuity" but I like his offense more than what Garett does.
Very interesting team so excited to watch them. See if Darnold is better without Gase, best RB in football, a young innovative OC, and a up and coming D with lots of speed.
and what I mean is moving side to side trying to avoid defenders, instead of just staying in the pocket waiting f9or the play to develop. All Jones will do is run in a strait line if there is a hole, but barely. Thats a good way to extend plays when the OL crumbles.
Moves around extremely well in the pocket. Looks more like the guy from USC than what he was with the jets. Interesting to see if develops into what he was projected to be.
Nice that the Giants were reactive and let Tepper dictate the entire negotiation. Always reactive, never proactive.
Give me a break. There is plenty to kill the Giants for. Killing them for not exceeding the ludicrous offer Tepper gave Rhule is not on the list.
And please, can we slow our roll here a bit? Rhule and his Panthers actually picked ahead of the Giants in this past draft. The instant reactionary bullshit that happens on this site is comical.
looks good. His passes have been accurate, he's clearly going through his progressions and reads, and has scrambled without panicking to buy time. Aikman is right that he's also made some nice throws on the run.
And please, can we slow our roll here a bit? Rhule and his Panthers actually picked ahead of the Giants in this past draft. The instant reactionary bullshit that happens on this site is comical.
Then why do they look like a much better team than the Giants? This is how the Giants were supposed to look this year, a top team competing for the division with a good defense.

They started 3-2 last year and we had posters in here saying the same thing. How could we pass up Matt Rhule? Then they won two games the rest of the season.
It didn’t take long for the same nonsense to pick up again this season, did it?
Watching Giants defense here, except they give up the 4 th down conversion.
Teams are going to have to rethink the incredibly soft defenses they play on third and long. Seems more and more coaches are willing to go for it when you let them close enough on 4 th down.
and this is why you don't give RB's a big contract in todays NFL. Guys like Gurley, CMC, zeke who seems to be declining and Barkley seem to have a short life span.

With a QB that's a threat to run, it's especially brutal the Giants are so predictable about punting.

It’s almost as if players at the RB position in the NFL have a shorter career than other positions. Too bad there isn’t some sort of statistics or comput’ah folks to run the numb’ahs on this stuff.
Holy shit you would have thought he committed murder. Oh wait someone on the offense recovered. (We never do that). You see how easy a pitch a catch when you have a receiver like Moore who can get open?
Has there been an easier start to a season in the history of the NFL playing the Jets, Texans and Saints with a bunch of guys with Covid?
Yeah, the Broncos, Redskins, and Falcons are a real murderer's row
The Broncos and Washington are a hell of a lot better than the jets and Texans. Come on now. You can despise the Giants and still not be ignorant. Or can’t you?
Yeah, anyone who thinks the mighty 2-0 Panthers are on a great track should be watching this game
I’d take the Panthers trajectory over ours. They have good young players on cheap contracts on both sides of the ball. Darnold has looked solid. A forward thinking offensive coordinator.
what’s Watson’s status? Is he eligible to play or not? They are just letting him sit. They are paying his salary aren’t they? Why aren’t they trading him or cutting him?

Just because the NFL won’t make a move doesn’t mean the Texans have to play him. They’ve tried to trade him, their price is too high. Are you really killing the Texans for not playing him? Clearly they think the allegations aren’t worth playing him right now.
Yeah, I’m killing the Texans. They are keeping a player on their roster that they have no intention to play, and also won’t accept any trade offers for him that aren’t highway robbery. All the meanwhile, paying his salary. Again - everything Watson did was for sure terrible but - shit or get off the pot here.

Or they can ask for a high price, hope he gets cleared then trade him at that high price. Why sell low until you actually have to?
Watched most of the Jets-Panthers game week 1. Darnold played better in week 2, but he still looks like largely the same QB he was on the Jets. Capable of big plays but still extremely jittery.

It’s been speculated that the NFL hasn’t suspended Watson yet because the Texans aren’t playing him. If they try to play him, he will be suspended by the league. I’m not sure of the legitimacy of this but I’ve seen it mentioned several times. So I’m not sure what you think the Texans can do? He is not tradeable at this point.
The time to trade Watson was this off-season. And it is not surprising that they didn’t do it. The guy that runs the show there is an absolute baffoon.
RE: Imagine if Jones had two fumbles in a half like that
What I’m saying is, he might not get cleared. Every second that he stays on the Texans roster, his trade value is diminished.
But other teams know this too. Nobody’s trading anything more than like a 4th round pick for him right now. The gamble to wait and hope he gets cleared is worth it.

I’m not sure why you care so much? Watson is a scum bag. Fuck him.
a QB was always perplexing to me. Maybe they were trying to get Rodgers or thought they could get a Watson deal. But I'd rather have drafted Fields then wait for the idiots in Houston to do something. Hypothetically is Watson is able to play (I think he is but is not playing because reasons) Denver and WFT made both sense. We lost to both of them so who cares at this point. Houston holding off Watson makes no sense since he's not playing and lessens his value a bit.
I think you guys are completely misinterpreting what I’m saying. I could give a shit about Watson. I’m saying the fact that the Texans didn’t trade him was a disaster.

Trade him when?? The second the allegations came out March 16 his trade value went into the shitter until he’s cleared
A huge hell no! Nelson, Chubb or Allen? That’s a convo to be determined.
If Reese wasn't fired Chubb would be a Giant, some say Allen but I doubt he'd take someone from Wyoming. Chubb would be nice, but like Barkley has injury problems during his career.
No team was going to give Houston a high draft choice for Watson
BigBlue…who cares? I don’t know? Just having a convo about it on a message board because the Texans are playing? Jesus
That’s fine. But you seem legit pissed off about it. That’s what I was try to figure out. Go back and read your posts. There’s definitely an angry tone to them.
what’s Watson’s status? Is he eligible to play or not? They are just letting him sit. They are paying his salary aren’t they? Why aren’t they trading him or cutting him?
Because word is if they try to play him the NFL may have to act as far as a suspension goes. Secondly the Texans don't want him and do not want to risk an injury that might make trading him later impossible. He will NEVER play for the Texans again.
Again - the completely gutless decision to not go for it on 4th and 4 from the opponents 40 yard line - leads directly to a touchdown for the opponent. If you are a HC in the NFL you simply cannot do that anymore.
isn't the same kind of back CMC is and he's not going to be able to run a lot of those plays. he's more a power guy, than a quick acceleration, hard cut guy.
Why would you call a timeout there and then go for the field goal? Just let it expire and get the delay of game. Absolutely stupid.
So kick it from 5 yards further? Maybe they called a play and didn't like the look the defense was giving them. Good old school football ther.
They don't need no analytics nerd to tell them how to play. I think peopl e here look at the Ravens and think that is all ther is to football. They are ignoring dominant athletes; great execution ; and well coached well disciplined team. All the things the Giants currently are NOT. Really, I was watching some of the jints and with Danny boy it was like I was watching a college game for a little while . It was like the airline lost a college teams luggage and they borrowed jints uniforms. RPO, shotgun / short passing like 90 percent of them time etc.
he is better than Darnold. It's too early to say who is better. Last year they were both pretty bad.
My guess is that they both prove to be mid range QBs between #14 and #22. Good enough to play for someone, but probably not good enough to expect a championship run from them unless they land on a dominant roster.
What I’m saying is, he might not get cleared. Every second that he stays on the Texans roster, his trade value is diminished.

Rumor has it, the Texans already turned down 2 1sts and othe picks before the season started.
You are both playing the short/wrong game. His value is highest when the criminal aspect of this situation is over. Texans can pay him, and not play him, all year (they're going to suck with or without him)...and if the criminal investigation is over, his trade value is through the roof, especially with a weak QB class coming out of college.
In this case, the longer they hold him, the more his value increases...unless he faces jail time (which would've made any trade void anyway).

pretty much this is an exactly correct assessment of the relative leverage and mechanics of this market. I wouldn't say Watson's value increases over time, the Texans will lose opportunity cost, they are stifling a bit until this is worked out, but it is all about the criminal component. If they come through this without a criminal complaint, they will probably get three firsts.
2) Hassan Reddick is on a one year deal. He had a career year and really didn't light it up with pressures on Arizona. But he's looked good. Now if he keeps it up: big deal or CAR loses him
3) Watson being paid right now is ridiculous. Screw the trade chatter. When Ben, Zeke, etc. were suspended, they weren't paid. Why is he not suspended, at least?
Was a 1 point game until Culley punted on the 40. Game was over after that play call.
Um no. Game was over when Darnold marched his team down the field for a second time in a row. And he culkd have done it from mid-field if the Texans went for it, did not get it, and turned it over on downs; instead of his own 10 yard line.
This place really needs to get off of this "new football" shit. At the end of the day ; it still a physical contest. Some nerds meaningless stats do not win games. This team --the jints-- are not going to magically start winning games with a low skill QB; an inexperienced , low skill coach, and pretty much bad football team all around by calling RPOs every down and going for it on 4th down.

I think they’re appreciably better than the NYG. Rhule’s offensive staff has completely transformed Darnold into a competent NFL QB.
We won't have to worry about McCaffrey gashing us at least anymore

Well apparently BBI is impressed with putting up 7 points in the half against the Houston Texans. They are simply unstoppable
I think the explanation lies in the fact that Bill O'Brian was sent packing back to college to be an assistant.

Yeah, and we all said it at the time during the game last Thursday. An incompetent choice.
The Texans are missing several defensive starters IIRC, and have still only surrendered seven points.
right?
