Or they can ask for a high price, hope he gets cleared then trade him at that high price. Why sell low until you actually have to?

Watched most of the Jets-Panthers game week 1. Darnold played better in week 2, but he still looks like largely the same QB he was on the Jets. Capable of big plays but still extremely jittery.

It’s been speculated that the NFL hasn’t suspended Watson yet because the Texans aren’t playing him. If they try to play him, he will be suspended by the league. I’m not sure of the legitimacy of this but I’ve seen it mentioned several times. So I’m not sure what you think the Texans can do? He is not tradeable at this point.

The time to trade Watson was this off-season. And it is not surprising that they didn’t do it. The guy that runs the show there is an absolute baffoon.

But other teams know this too. Nobody’s trading anything more than like a 4th round pick for him right now. The gamble to wait and hope he gets cleared is worth it.

a QB was always perplexing to me. Maybe they were trying to get Rodgers or thought they could get a Watson deal. But I'd rather have drafted Fields then wait for the idiots in Houston to do something. Hypothetically is Watson is able to play (I think he is but is not playing because reasons) Denver and WFT made both sense. We lost to both of them so who cares at this point. Houston holding off Watson makes no sense since he's not playing and lessens his value a bit.

Because word is if they try to play him the NFL may have to act as far as a suspension goes. Secondly the Texans don't want him and do not want to risk an injury that might make trading him later impossible. He will NEVER play for the Texans again.

I find it laughably incompetent that any coach in the modern NFL would punt the ball on 4th and 5 or less from the opponents 40 yard line.

He will not play unless he gets cleared of most of these allegations. With 21 allegations, the chances of that happening are not very high.

I understand keeping him especially if the legal stuff gets ironed out by early next year. They can afford to wait.

The Texans are missing several defensive starters IIRC, and have still only surrendered seven points.

Again - the completely gutless decision to not go for it on 4th and 4 from the opponents 40 yard line - leads directly to a touchdown for the opponent. If you are a HC in the NFL you simply cannot do that anymore.
