He had 2 OL in front and he ran right into the only defender. As a RB, how can you not help your OL by setting up the block. It drives me nuts watching runners just run past their blockers. It's fuckin moronic.
But Barkley did run better this week. And I thought he had some runs where he hit the hole when nothing was there (instead of dancing) and got 4 or 5 yards.
Hopefully he gets beter and better every week. Doubt you'd get much for him in a trade unless he somehow gets back to being the Barkley of his rookie season.
He hit the hole and got 4-5 yards a few times, as he should have.
But he’s also clearly not the same player after the injuries. Can he get back their? Possibly, but probably doubtful. But I don’t see him breaking any 69 yard TDs anytime soon
Giants thought they were getting a Marshall Faulk/Ladanian Tomlinson type player. Sadly, he may never be
But lowering expectations for him isn't helping. The only play I felt like only he could make was the jump into the endzone. Great jump. Other than that...any RB makes most of the plays he made. We should expect more, right?
but a truly awful pick at #2 overall. It’s crazy how defensive and angry many people got here when it was suggested that taking this RB at #2 wasn’t a good idea.
Banks took a ton of shots at 26 for not hitting holes an d dancing causing losses. Specifically on the 2nd and 1 on our last drive that went for a 3 yard loss

Simple and true. In fact, indisputable at this point.
RE: Worst play of the game by him was that last screen pass.

Word. I think he is downright mediocre at reading blocks.

Saw the same. Don't know how the hell he gets tackled there.
He'd look awesome on a better team. Not sure what some of you expect a running back to do on a backwards offense with a bad OL. This is both defense of Barkley and calling out the reality of the position he plays.
After that performance today, I firmly believe Barkley is contributing to the OL’s mediocrity. He does some things very well but is just mediocre at key aspects of his position.
He plays a fungible position and is coming off a major injury. And everyone else see what we see, a guy who thinks he’s Barry Sanders when he’s not as good as Aaron Jones.
saw some of his quickness, acceleration, and vision on a few runs, but on others he looked hesitant and seemed to be running somewhat gingerly. Some of his hesitation and "dancing" though is because the OL blocking has been very poor. Regardless of what happens this year, I'd be stunned if he's traded.
But I’m starting to sour on him real quick. You aren’t a staring RB if you can’t pass protect and can’t run between the tackles. Giants might need to cut bait this offseason and let him walk.
Took the screen at halftime like Barkley should, he turned and just ran . No dance moves and no running out of bounds. Matison for the Vikes had one where he lowered his shoulder and got another 10yards and he has to be about 20 lbs lighter than Saquon

His outright refusal to just fucking run is pathetic. Half the time he's just juking ghosts out there. It's ridiculous.
And probably won't get another contract. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he's out of the league in the near future.
If he goes to another team and does what he does here, then yeah. He'd be out of the league soon, as a backup RB who doesn't do special teams and can't pass block doesn't have a lot of value.
His best bet would be a team (maybe this one if Garrett realizes it one day) that sees what Barkley is - a gadget player - and starts using him that way.
You have no fucking eyeballs if you don't agree with this post. Hur dur dumb fuck hur dur -- the only dumb fucks are the ones who think that Saquon is actually worth building an offense around.
Not this year as he’s not all the way back but just watch. He will not re-sign here or he will be traded and once he’s removed from the swamps of jersey he will shine.
In fucking sick of people bitching about a draft pick from FOUR years ago. Teams miss all the time and Barkley isn’t exactly a dud of a player but even if he is, it’s four god damned years ago now. The Eagles traded the farm for Wentz and they can still function. The Rams trade every fucking pick they have and keep winning. Teams miss but only the giants would be supposedly haunted by one fucking pick from four years back. Gimme a break.
Just a hugely forgettable Giant.
You can’t get to open space as easy in the nfl like college. Kid ain’t a player. I’d rather have prime sproles or bush.
Dumb fucks I expect, but...
Enrgam
Barkley
For a 5th rounder
Not saying he’s helping, but he isn’t hurting us the way others are.

More screens yes, and hopefully ones where we don’t have linemen 20 yards downfield illegally.

Couldn't agree more.

He will forever be emblematic of what a terrible GM Gettleman was for this team
At a 17M cap hit over 21/22 — that’s another story.
He can't. He needs help to maximize his ability. This gold jacket stuff was Gettleman smelling his own brand.

Watching Tampa, I was just thinking Barkley looks a lot Gio Bernard.
When Barkley shakes the rust, he’s probably as valuable as Fournette + Bernard. A good running back, that is a complimentary player on a good team.
I just don't think he's a bell cow RB like a Henry.

He's sucking up cap resources as much as he does downs on the field.

Fucking moron
