How do they not adjust at halftime and make sure he gets more touches? He made a nice catch and looked shifty and fast. Shepard and Slayton out. Yet no plays for him in the second half.
This is on both JG and the head coach. JJ should have demanded it of JG at halftime.
kid looked shifty. This was a PERFECT chance for himn to prove he had what it takes. a perfect spot for him to step up and honestly...i bet he meets the challenge. he played BIG TIME football in collegfe and we are treating him like a fucking midwest community college player. This is a joke.
I thought for sure when both went out toney was gonna get a legit shot and we were gonna see him make some plays
Looked great out there!

Board did ok at WR also. Sorry, David Sills fans
Judge lost me today. The decisions being made- challenges that make no sense, TO's used like they are unlimited and a lack of guts- all pushed me to the he is not the coach he presents himself to be.
Passing game was pretty good when the blocking was there.
The three top weapons were either hurt or OUT, and our first round weapon was nowhere to be seen.
and ANY excuse about why that happened is damning to the front office and the coaching staff.
He can’t be expected to play WR, return punts, or return kicks 3 games into the season.

sarcasm?
dude played in the SEC not some bumfuck community college. nobody is asking him to run difficult concepts...he cant run a comeback? he cant run a drag? he cant run a go? we have DONE NOTHING to try and feed him the rock consistently where he can get going.... i really hope that was sarcasm
i disagree HIGHLY with this take. his 4.5 speed means jack shit. he is shifty and makes plays. you absolutely scheme to get him the ball. in college he made several HUGE plays. thats a guy you absolutely scheme into your offense...
then why did we draft him 20 OVERALL

Guys, playing receiver is prohibitively difficult. Toney has to learn the difference between 8.5 and 8 yards.

Yes, sarcasm - ( New Window )
I don’t agree with the pick at all for positional value reasons. I’ll note that Sterling Shepard - who’s NCAA career is Jim Brown like compared to Toney’s - went early in the second.
Do the Chiefs scheme the ball to Tyreek Hill?
He ran a 4.39 40 on his pro day.
or it just took time for him to get a shot?
Toney ran a 4.4 at his Pro Day, so make that 4.5 in reality. 4.5 is fast but nothing to get excited about if your an NFL talent hunter.
There’s an athletic gap between the two players.

3 years for the light to come on at Florida. The better question is why didn't we draft a real WR if we wanted a WR and why didn't we draft RonDale Moore a round later if we wanted a developmental gadget guy?
or it just took time for him to get a shot?
That is fair. It's early. I just don't get the choice with the alternatives. It's like they tried to split the middle between a gadget player and future base personnel WR instead of picking a lane. There was a better or comparable gadget guy available later and way more complete WRs on the board whether they wanted a slot or outside WR.

i honestly think it was they were just trying to give jones as much talent around him as possible while meeting value. at 20, the value was there. several teams were reported to be high on him and he doesnt get much further. I think giants front office knows its eval year for jones. he plays well and sticks or other plans are made. unfortunately that decision made have to be made even with jones playing well enough to win. i mean...if i told you 2 months ago jones would have ONE turnover through 3 and we be 0-3 you would think somet5hing went VERY wrong. we are there...
overall, toney looks slippery and I think he needs to get WAY more targets, espeically with shep and slay sidelined.
he cant run a comeback? a drag? put the ball in his hands...not everything has to be perfectly in the system. its okay to get creative and give guys who make plays the ball....i just dont buy that he cant contribute...im not saying he will be running the entire route tree and dominating, but a drag? come on...SEC football, not some bumfuck community college
I could see this Toney thrive with the Cardinals offense, Patriots yikes, many teams would be giddy to have such a weapon. Look it's as easy as, use him like Florida did?! Or better yet get their offensive coordinator?!
He's not a rookie, for one. For two, arguably he did practice more than Toney before the season.

LoL.
He's 6'0" and 193 lbs. Not that small.
