Great, great win against a very tough defense in a very loud building. Now how on earth did this team lose to Washington and Atlanta? Both those teams are nowhere near as good as New Orleans in the Superdome
as i have been saying, give Toney the FUCKING BALL!! He playedi n the SEC, he has big play ability. he fights for yards, knows where the sticks are and is shifty as hell. He and barkley could be nice duo with KG in the mix too.
Lets go baby. Enjoy the fucking win boys!!! We beat a GOOD team a GOOD defense in a TOUGH PLACE TO PLAY. And JONES got it done in gaming tying/winning fashion TWICE
Jones played exceptionally well.
The OL pass blocking was excellent. Thomas was phenomenal.

Yup, Jones had all the time he needed. Barely noticed Thomas all day, which is as good a compliment as you can give a left tackle. And that DL isn’t a bunch of chumps, Saints are legit

For the first time in his career, Daniel Jones played like a franchise QB. That's got to feel good. Let's see more of that, please
Galloday was very good and Toney showed flashes of why he was a 1st round pick.
Going forward Toney should be ahead of Slayton on the depth chart and they should open the playbook because i think Jones is taking the next step this season and is ready for it
I’m just so happy to see them win a game like that
On the back of jones, my god did we need this. They still have an uphill climb but it has to start somewhere. Game balls all around. They earned it for one week.
And it’s becoming harder and harder to not see some serious talent in Jones. The points needed to come with it today they did. We just might have a qb on our hands here.
Jones played lights out. Barkley ran hard on that TD run. Very good game for the OL against a good Saints front.
Very good games for our WR’s Golliday,Ross and welcome to NY Toney.

Agree, they need to use the pass to set up the run. They did not even have Sheppard today. Very diverse group of weapons on this team.
So in the 4th as the Saints ran the ball successfully, I was expecting a playaction call and kill shot long pass down the field. And the Saints called it - but there was a false start. They went back to running and never went downfield again.
in the run game, earlier in games. He runs hard and north south. Barkley is still dancing, looking for the big gainer and it puts this team in long third downs.
are so good in space, and Garrett finally utilized that today. Other than the final TD run, Barkley is still awful between the tackles. How come everyone can see that but the coaches?
And Engram continues to disappoint, with a big miss on behind him, but catchable third down target.
That, and also smart enough to know where the sticks were on about 3 big plays, and didn’t dance his way out of first downs the way a lot of other uber-athletic guys do. Veteran level awareness today
Nice to have playmakers out there - Shep, Slayton and Engram are mediocre. There was a noticeable difference today.
Sheep’s rock solid for the role he plays now. But I actually think it helped Jones to not have Shep available as a security blanket today. Forced him to find Golladay and Toney often
Were ahead, Payton put the wraps on his starting QB?
Kind of, but Watson didn’t start well and Payton knows if he keeps him going hard he’ll turn it over. They’ve been managing him similarly in other games
are a huge upgrade from Shepard, Slayton, and Engram.
Slayton and Engram should be benched but Shepard still play when he is healthy.
Also Barkley is great in space but he is not a Rb. Between the tackles he just doesn't put his head down and get the tough yardage needed or have the vision for it. Booker/Brightwell should get more touches at RB going forward

I really like Shepard, but I do think we got a couple of first downs to Toney today which just wouldn’t have been there with Shepard. Shepard is pretty dependable in the slot when fit but Toney suddeness is such a weapon
Had to lean on Jones and he delivered in a big way. Playcalling and conservative approach still a problem though. This offense has potential to be explosive but you gotta take the governor off the golf cart. I understand the need to set up the defense but the Giants still tapping in to their potential until their backs are up against the wall. Barkley running routes beyond the line of scrimmage, Jones using zone read and RPO back to back plays, opposite field screen plays, etc. It's one deep shot and Fisher Price until crunch time like every week. How about not waiting until the game is in question?
Enough complaining though, great win on the road. Awesome performance by Jones, we don't win that without a great QB game.
I'm no longer convinced we need to go away from him.
Today told me that the vast majority of the problems are in coaching. The offensive line that gettleman didn't do a good enough job of stocking for us while spending tens of millions on overrated defenders.
Why the heck was Toney not used until now?
Why the heck is Barkley not set up to get into space more? It's clear Barkley is still explosive...but he's put in too many situations to fail. Running into 8 man boxes on 3/4 of his carries behind a line that is progressing in run blocking but is still miserable at dominating the line of scrimmage.
I allowed myself to express optimism about the Giants' chances, which I almost never do.

Dallas’ defense has been good at generating turnovers though. Next week will prove a lot either way.
RE: Got to stop running Barkley on first down in first half
Get the ball in the hands of Golladay, Toney and keepers with Jones.
Ross finally turning into a football player? That would be helpful too.
They just have to stop running him between the tackles on first. Have to run him on stretch plays and tosses and get him in space. Not running every first down would help too
I'm no longer convinced we need to go away from him.

I don't think they were confident he knew the playbook until just now. Do we want to lose a game because he runs right Daniel throws left and it results in a pick 6?
Were the two runs in OT. Forced the defense to honor the run. That www huge.
Totally agree. I guess the logic is that he can put it on the ground, or get hurt. But, there's no question he can run and can make a defense scared. He's like Hill who can throw - have no idea why Garrett refuses to use him.

if glennon is playing qb we cant win anything
Of course, that's the risk. But every time Jones runs (like in the Washington game) - the offense looks almost elite. Every time it's removed - they struggle.
After Taysom's 2nd touchdown I got so disgusted that I turned off the game and went to take a nap. I can't remember the last time I missed even a single snap, preseason included. It's been years, if ever. The pervasive though in my mind was "and now there will be a big comeback and I will have missed it"
You're welcome!
Now you know what Parcells would say.

Ross has been a football player. He runs good routes, he adjusts, he makes athletic catches with soft hands. Except he drops a ton and is always injured. This nonsense about him not being a football player is Hooey, though. a tad similar to another player we have on offense. He can be amazing, or aggravating. Little in between.

To be fair, dropping a ton of passes would make you the opposite of a good football player when your job is to catch passes.

Ok, whatever.
He needs to build off this game and do what he is paid to do. And what has been expected from him for years.
RE: RE: It looks like we found our LT for the next decade
Actually it was Gettleman who found him. And maybe he hit on Toney as well. This is not to say that I want DG here next year. I don't.
I agree completely.
Jones and Thomas are foundational pieces, and he added Toney and an extra 1st rounder next year, but it still feels like he got lucky.
Let's take what he's given us and let someone else build on it. If that happens, the DG tenure could be looked back at as a great success.

Is that really so? Not rain on the parade but the toney pick was a trade down; something gettle has never done in his career. At the age of 70 and being mentored by earne —who also never did it; it’s head for me to believe it wasn’t Garrett or judge
Jones played exceptionally well.

Yeah, it's looking like after many years we may have found a guy who can coach offensive line. Thomas continues to develop well and the spare parts are holding together. That's a huge factor in Jones starting to show some improvement.

Or the Bears simply made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

If I remember correctly, it was Colombo who really banged the table for him.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the OL coaching during the game. The coaches backs were against the wall and the unit generally played well. Huge props in a very difficult situation.

No sacks given up today! Very good pass pro today. Run blocking can be a lot better though. Skura certainly looked the part too.
are you that obtuse? Half the message board has already given up on Daniel Jones as a QB. In fact - there was a thread dedicated to it. A few of the normal team bashers have said, daily, that Jones is a “bad QB.”
Those same posters also said we shouldn’t even bother getting off the bus today.
So yeah - it feels good.

Earnie traded down in the first round and took Kiwanuka. The irony is that after trading down he wanted to take Kelly Jennings, a CB from Miami, but deferred to the rest of the room because they wanted Kiwi.
Jones was absolutely fantastic. He is FAR from the biggest problem with this team. Loved seeing Golladay breakout in a big way. Barkley looked good and even Toney contributed in a strong way. Weird the offense played this well without Shep and Slayton. Nice to finally get a big win and in a stadium that has been somewhat of a house of horrors for this franchise, too. Win next week and we're right back in this thing.
Nice game by the offense and the defense. The Big Cat scratched! Great to see da Yung Joka out there. He looks like a play maker. Great game by Barkley. Great game by Jones. Great game by Kenny G! The O line was terrific. And the coaches were dialed in. Aside from Gano’s early miss the Giants played terrific complimentary football.
missed the game - was at a family gathering for grandkids' birthdays -
does anyone realize that Jones is on pace for 5000+ yards- which would probably net him a ProBowl nod ( also Eli Never threw for 5000).
What Jones did in the 4th and OT matters more to me than total yardage or TO. Do it when the game is on the line - that’s what Eli was so special at
had good blocks on the game winning TD. Skura was better than I expected at LG. Not sure why Peart isn’t getting any time at OT? He must be showing poorly in practice.
You can see Jones performing. I don't think he's being asked to do much though outside of crunch time. If they believe in Jones they have to prove it with how they use him, I think he's earned it to this point of the season.
and Eric has been preaching it the last few years. We were an injury away from our WR corp being a downright bad unit year over year. The Toney pick makes you wonder how badly we needed to fill our WR room with talent just as much as OL or DL.
People were killing the Toney pick the last few weeks because we could have had Slater or AVT or whatever.
With Andrew Thomas playing the way he has, WR was a not only a good pick, but essential. If Toney isn’t on our team, with the injuries to Shepard and Slayton, we don’t come close to winning that game today. Hell - they might not be back for Dallas, but we have a chance knowing we have an extra legit weapon in the field.

Next week is even bigger. Gonna need to score to keep up with Dallas O.
Also going to need to run the ball and ball control to some extent to keep the Dallas O off the field. Our offense can't match theirs over the long haul.
Granted, the OL is absolutely still somewhat of a mess. But trading back and taking one of the better weapons in the draft seems like a good move. WR has been an absolute mess for years. We’ll see what happens.
But Thomas is a shutdown left tackle right now, and he’s only getting better. They’ve got a couple high picks on the OL - let’s see if Sale can get these guys playing at a high enough level to let Jones and Barkley do their thing.

I was in the car for most of the game ( until I shut it off at 21-10). I watched the replay and was giddy watching the blocking on that run.
Solder blocks his guy out and Hernandez turns his guy. Skura pushes his guy past Barkley and the DB can’t make it between Hernandez and Skura. Price shades the linebacker so Saquon can run behind him. Thomas drives his DLman 4 yards downfield so even though he makes the tackle, Saquon is already over the goal line.
It’s weird. Seeing highlights of Golladay, I sort of thought he was mainly an awesome deep threat and jump ball kind of guy. But he’s very good 20 yards and in and slants as well. Similar to Burress that way.

Exactly. He is not the deep threat. He is the. 3rd and long guy. GO TO.

LoL still with the Glennon crap. Sure he could throw for 400 in New Orleans today
Is there a replay available for the game anywhere?

Obtuse? I’m not sure you know what that word means.
The tone and subject of your post was childish and small. I never suggested people were not down on Jones.
I was thrilled the team won today, as were most on this board. But posts like this and the anger from Danny Dimes just seems really weird to me.

20 yards is an explosive play, the Giants define it as 16+ according to Duggan. He's being used in the capacity he's asked to, some of that was in the form of contested throws past the sticks which is definitely progress.

This isn't to take anything away from Jones, who I think is our QB of the present and future, but with a 17 game season we will see a lot of increased stats and records.
Are so ridiculous. Again people, game 4 since the surgery. Not every rb is Adrian Peterson and yet despite this fact Barkley is getting better and better every week and is going to get his numbers, barring misfortune. He helped them win today.
He’s not. a RB? Wtf are some of you talking about. Can we let this guy play some more before treating him like rashard Jennings? He averaged 4.0 ypc and scored 2 tds. He was huge when they needed him.
You’re not fucking benching Barkley. This latest narrative that Barkley actually sucks is typical echo chamber horse shit. Yes booker could use a few more early touches but some of you are sitting here acting like Barkley shouldn’t get rushes. Kidding me.
Except baker of course, played well today. Barkley, jones, Lawrence, Thomas and Toney. God forbid these guys all stay healthy and build on this.
Lots of work to do. They didn’t guarantee anything today but they won a game they had to win. Beat Dallas then we can start to believe maybe something is really up. I’m afraid to show any hope but maybe this offense and team gets its sea legs earlier than last year when they showed signs week 8.
but man i wish we finished in washington and at home vs the falcons.
here's something i worry about. vs WAS jones looked great, some deep throws, some RO/RPO stuff. then vs. ATL none of that.
thats all gameplanning. and for this staff to always talk about players strength all day their actions dont show that. it's like if the last team our opponent lost too ran the ball a lot then we'll try to run. they need to build on this week not scrap it for a new gameplan.
dallas will be tough, i'm hoping the offense continues to open it up for DJ and Barkely and the defense toughens up because the cowpies have been putting up good points this season barring the SD game.
I’m as shocked as you😂
Nice
Fuckin right. Jones growing up before our eyes. Cant believe I’m saying this, but I felt very confident in him on that drive
That was some good football - not great but, good.
Still a lot of work to do.
Yup, he’s a gamer. Made several big plays
Agreed. They carried as did Golladay.
Yeah, because all the other generations of Giants fans have been super-positive about this team.
Team should have a lot of pride overcoming such a deficit late in the game!!!
Jones played exceptionally well.
The OL pass blocking was excellent. Thomas was phenomenal.
Two problems:
No real running game.
No pressure.
Literally didn’t miss those other guys at all.
Golladay
Ross
Some guys who can make plays. And the OL continues to hold up surprisingly well especially in pass protection.
We want wins but I think everyone here will be ecstatic if Jones continues playing like this. Love what i'm seeing from him.
Joey Judge, please coach more aggressively moving forward.
And it happened.
Now a good week of being able to dream about shocking the world in Dallas.

Against a good defense! It was nice to see them go to KT and KG!
Please God let this be the start of something!!!
What is your repeated issue with boomers? Suck it little punk bitch

Giants actually have a shot to win next week if they play the same way as this week. Dallas doesn't have the same defense New Orleans has. On the other hand, they have one of the best offenses in the league.
For the first time in his career, Daniel Jones played like a franchise QB. That's got to feel good. Let's see more of that, please
Fact. If we were Saints fans we’d be losing our shit over Payton’s coaching today
But forget that, been a looooong time since the Giants made the plays to win a game like that
Amazing! I forgot how good it feels to win a game, especially against a good team and Defense!
Going forward Toney should be ahead of Slayton on the depth chart and they should open the playbook because i think Jones is taking the next step this season and is ready for it

right, when they win it’s the other team’s fault. enjoy one, man!
And Engram continues to disappoint, with a big miss on behind him, but catchable third down target.
Golladay
Ross

Barkley is not done.
Toney is not a bust.
Now build off this.
Jones too... YES!!!!!!+
Spend those two first rounders next year on an OL stud and an edge rusher, then we are ready to computere again.
This would have been a much bigger win if:
1.) Stop the GD jet sweeps. 2nd and goal from the 2 yd line you run straight ahead or find Golladay or Rudolph
2.) Engram does not drop a 1st down catch.
3.) Toney does not drop a 1st down pass. (He played a very good game. He is dangerous)
4.) The defense could tackle. What an awful job of tackling.
Anyway. That was some outstanding pass protection against a very, very good defense.
that said, this is still a horribly coached team for most of the game. They FINALLY went into attack mode and it worked.
Here's an even better idea.
How about you just enjoy the win and post something positive rather than looking for your "I told you so" moment.
That, and also smart enough to know where the sticks were on about 3 big plays, and didn’t dance his way out of first downs the way a lot of other uber-athletic guys do. Veteran level awareness today

The Giants just won their first big game in basically forever. It’s a strange place for someone’s energy to be.
OL pancaking at the GL was great !!
Running game needs work, but for now a day to enjoy a solid win.
Don’t forget Ross. He was exceptional today too!
Sheep’s rock solid for the role he plays now. But I actually think it helped Jones to not have Shep available as a security blanket today. Forced him to find Golladay and Toney often

Miss Martinez.
Good point!
Hilarious. I read this and thought, “The Giants didn’t get any pass rush today.”
It is a weapon to have somebody who can go get extra YAC and get 1st downs. Jones has been missing this his whole career so far
Quote:
I'm happy for Barkley - but if he loses that fumble it's Chernobyl.
Good point!
Agreed. But we needed and deserve a little luck given the way this season has gone so far.
its the season next week.
Enough complaining though, great win on the road. Awesome performance by Jones, we don't win that without a great QB game.

What Dallas has been doing very good again is running the ball.
Miss Martinez.
Yes because next week Elliott will be averaging 5 yards a carry and we won’t get off the field again.
Running into 8 man boxes on 3/4 of his carries behind a line that is progressing in run blocking but is still miserable at dominating the line of scrimmage.
its the season next week.
You are one miserable human being. Did Judge steal your lunch money today?
I was so caught up in the game that I failed to realize that!
Get the ball in the hands of Golladay, Toney and keepers with Jones.
Ross finally turning into a football player? That would be helpful too.

I allowed myself to express optimism about the Giants' chances, which I almost never do.
And it happened.
Now a good week of being able to dream about shocking the world in Dallas.
Dallas’ defense has been good at generating turnovers though. Next week will prove a lot either way.
Get the ball in the hands of Golladay, Toney and keepers with Jones.
Ross finally turning into a football player? That would be helpful too.
He's been really good when healthy. That's the problem, he gets hurt a lot and doesn't play well when he's hurt.
Let's hope he stays healthy!

They just have to stop running him between the tackles on first. Have to run him on stretch plays and tosses and get him in space. Not running every first down would help too

I don't think they were confident he knew the playbook until just now. Do we want to lose a game because he runs right Daniel throws left and it results in a pick 6?

suck it :)
What is your repeated issue with boomers? Suck it little punk bitch
^^This^^
Totally agree. I guess the logic is that he can put it on the ground, or get hurt. But, there's no question he can run and can make a defense scared. He's like Hill who can throw - have no idea why Garrett refuses to use him.

Were the two runs in OT. Forced the defense to honor the run. That www huge.

if glennon is playing qb we cant win anything

Of course, that's the risk. But every time Jones runs (like in the Washington game) - the offense looks almost elite. Every time it's removed - they struggle.
You're welcome!
Now you know what Parcells would say.
Get the ball in the hands of Golladay, Toney and keepers with Jones.

Actually it was Gettleman who found him. And maybe he hit on Toney as well. This is not to say that I want DG here next year. I don't.

Ok, whatever.
He needs to build off this game and do what he is paid to do. And what has been expected from him for years.

I agree completely.
Jones and Thomas are foundational pieces, and he added Toney and an extra 1st rounder next year, but it still feels like he got lucky.
Let's take what he's given us and let someone else build on it. If that happens, the DG tenure could be looked back at as a great success.
It’s weird to be a Jones fan first and a Giants fan second.
The Giants win a meaningful game for the first time in a long time, and all you can think about is attacking other fans about Jones.

Is that really so? Not rain on the parade but the toney pick was a trade down; something gettle has never done in his career. At the age of 70 and being mentored by earne —who also never did it; it’s head for me to believe it wasn’t Garrett or judge

Jones played exceptionally well.
The OL pass blocking was excellent. Thomas was phenomenal.
Two problems:
No real running game.
No pressure.
Coach Sale has done a great job with all the changes on the OL. Thomas really has improved. I am still hoping Peart plays a factor. Good snaps from Price.
Agree, they need to use the pass to set up the run. They did not even have Sheppard today. Very diverse group of weapons on this team.

How do you know that? Giants had some impressive receivers today that made plays as did bark

No sacks given up today! Very good pass pro today. Run blocking can be a lot better though. Skura certainly looked the part too.

Reese never traded down.
- nearly drove off the road when I heard on the radio driving home that the Giants won
- just watched extended highlights - holy moly, that was some comeback and Jones was awesome!
What Jones did in the 4th and OT matters more to me than total yardage or TO. Do it when the game is on the line - that’s what Eli was so special at
On this point, frankly, A lot of guys are on pace for 5000 yards.
This list wasn't updated for todays games.
The play calling was better, but still sucks.
Toney is so much fun to watch.

+1
Until today Toney showed nothing.
After today, there is a good expectation.
Also going to need to run the ball and ball control to some extent to keep the Dallas O off the field. Our offense can't match theirs over the long haul.
Exactly. He is not the deep threat. He is the. 3rd and long guy. GO TO.

LoL still with the Glennon crap. Sure he could throw for 400 in New Orleans today
Those same posters also said we shouldn’t even bother getting off the bus today.

Obtuse? I’m not sure you know what that word means.
The tone and subject of your post was childish and small. I never suggested people were not down on Jones.
I was thrilled the team won today, as were most on this board. But posts like this and the anger from Danny Dimes just seems really weird to me.
You can watch on NFL Gamepass, they have a 7 day free trail if you don't want to pay $99 for the season. The condensed games are great IMO.
20 yards is an explosive play, the Giants define it as 16+ according to Duggan. He's being used in the capacity he's asked to, some of that was in the form of contested throws past the sticks which is definitely progress.
What Jones did in the 4th and OT matters more to me than total yardage or TO. Do it when the game is on the line - that’s what Eli was so special at
This isn't to take anything away from Jones, who I think is our QB of the present and future, but with a 17 game season we will see a lot of increased stats and records.
He’s not.
Kidding me.
Lots of work to do. They didn’t guarantee anything today but they won a game they had to win. Beat Dallas then we can start to believe maybe something is really up. I’m afraid to show any hope but maybe this offense and team gets its sea legs earlier than last year when they showed signs week 8.
here's something i worry about. vs WAS jones looked great, some deep throws, some RO/RPO stuff. then vs. ATL none of that.
thats all gameplanning. and for this staff to always talk about players strength all day their actions dont show that. it's like if the last team our opponent lost too ran the ball a lot then we'll try to run. they need to build on this week not scrap it for a new gameplan.
dallas will be tough, i'm hoping the offense continues to open it up for DJ and Barkely and the defense toughens up because the cowpies have been putting up good points this season barring the SD game.

does anyone realize that Jones is on pace for 5000+ yards- which would probably net him a ProBowl nod ( also Eli Never threw for 5000).
