Solder just looks very thin to me since he returned. Almost close to the body of a TE. So keep him away from Jones's blind side and give Peart some chip help.
if we were playing a team with a better pass rush.
I'm assuming Peart would come in and play for Thomas.
Dallas is off to a great start, their fans want to be happy about their defense because they are winning. Their are still holes all over the Dallas defense, and their saving grace has been turnovers..which is not a sustainable feature of a defense.
Some stats on the Cowboys defense:
21st in sack%
23rd in prss%
30th in yards per play
23rd in net yards per pass
27th in rushing ypc(Dallas has the fewest rush opp attempts in the league)
26th in ypg
29th in passing yards allowed
17th in points allowed(right behind the Giants at 16)
20th in redzone%
We aren't playing the 85 bears.
Quote:
Here we see that offensive performance is much more predictable from year to year than defensive performance by any measure. And by far the least predictable of these drive rate stats is the defensive turnover per drive rate. This suggests that defenses have relatively little persistent ability to force turnovers. Perhaps if we were to dig a little deeper, we might find a few teams or players who do have such persistent ability to some extent, but in general it's not at all an ability that is pervasive throughout the NFL. If a coach can teach such an ability, it's probably so rare that most teams can't do it to a significant degree year after year.
that makes the most sense is Solder at LT and Peart at RT.
I kind of disagree. In limited sample size when Thomas was benched for violating team rules, I thought Peart looked comfortable at LT more so then I've seen him at RT.
He can’t beat out solder at right tackle. That shows the lack of confidence in him. He’d slide into right and solder would move to left. We would be max protecting every play. It’s scary and I rather not think about Thomas not playing.
I think this would fall under the category of 'Six or Half Dozen'
Judge has me trained that nothing is what it seems here, are they hamming it up? Seriously changes Dallas gameplan with and without him. It was just odd how forthright AT was about it when interviewed. He was bouncing around an awful lot for a guy with a serious injury. I’m cautiously optimistic to be honest after watching it. Obviously a real injury, but I get the sense they are hamming it up.
Tweeted earlier today that it will be Solder at LT and Peart at RT. I don't know if he was told that by the team or speculating. The Tweet read like it was a fact.
he will be tested by Gregory and Parsons. If Solder plays there, DJ will be running for his life again. Peart might be ok at RT, but I’m most concerned with Solder on the blindside!

My sense from talking to sources is that LT Andrew Thomas will be a game-time decision tomorrow. Expect them to see how his foot feels in warmups. Thomas has proven to be tough, so the question is how much he’ll he impacted by the injury if he plays.
Giants.com lists Peart as the backup LT https://www.giants.com/team/depth-chart
No chance.
Does that require any further clarification?

Turnovers and the Unpredictability of Defense - ( New Window )
Not an ideal situation, but in this case it's about minimizing damage.
Yeah I think so too, mostly because I trust Solder more at this point.

I am admittingly the last to know ... is he hurt? I didn't read anything yet?

Just read his transcript - he has a sore foot. He will be alright. It is not broken.
A shot of Novocain, some extra tape, rub a little rubotussin on it (Chris Rock) ... he will be good to go.
