Traveling to Dallas this weekend...

NYG + BC : 10/9/2021 10:08 am
My dad and I are taking a father/son trip to Dallas this weekend for the game. Super psyched as this will be our first time in Dallas and at AT& T stadium.

I'm curious if any BBIers have any recommendations for fun things to do in Dallas or at the stadium for game day.

Any giants fans want to meet up for a tailgate beer before the game?
If you’re a New Yorker and first trip to Texas

A quick trip into Ft Worth is definitely interesting and different.
Arlington itself, mehhh
Dallas the city is pretty interesting. How much time will you be there for?
Dallas Book Depository

For anyone old enough to have lived through or read about the assination of President Kennedy this is a very moving experience, one I will never forget.

And of course get some barbecue

We are going to be there this afternoon through Monday morning. Planning to check out Ft. Worth tonight and then hang around Arlington for the game

right now the Texas State Fair is going on at the Cotton Bowl complex ... it is a real taste of Texas and it is pretty fun

Avoid anything that looks like a trendy/hip restaurant or bar or you'll be surrounded by late 20's/early 30's insufferable people that think they are on the Real House Wives of Dallas

Also be prepared to pay $12 for a hot dog and $14 for a bud light at Jerry World

+1. I did not live through Kennedy’s assassination, but taking all of that in was indeed moving. And I always make it a point to get some brisket when I’m in Dallas.
For awesome BBQ go to the Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum

Going to Dallas next month for Army vs. Air Force in Arlington. I'm definitely looking to hit up the Texas School Book Depository. I'll probably get chills.
Must do

I visited the book depository in the mid-nineties.

They had the "sniper's next" partitioned off with Plexiglas, so that they could stage the scene for visitors without it being disturbed.

I went to the adjacent window and looked down to the street below, getting almost the exact same view that Oswald allegedly had. On the sidewalk a number of people were all looking up at the window and some were pointing. Very freaky feeling.

sniper's NEST, not "next".

I agree with DannyDimes. Hard8 BBQ is on a different level. There's one 10 min or so from the airport and also another not too far from Fort Worth. It's a must!
Don’t know about anything to do

But I drive through Dallas in the middle of the night to go to Oklahoma. It has to be the most clusterfuck way to do construction I’ve ever seen
If you have the time and are looking for a restaurant/pub to explore

take the McKinney Ave. trolley up and down McKinney Ave. It is free and you can get on and off to your heart's content.
Lots of places of interest. You will no doubt note lots of ladies some with classic Texas big hair.
I live in DFW and avoid Dallas completely

Traffic is horrid in and around Dallas so I stick to Fort Worth.

Best BBQ - HEIM BBQ

Best Brewery - Maple Branch

Best Pizza - Cane Rosso

Best Steak - pick any of the national chains. Capital Grill, Ruth's Chris, Del Friscos

Best Tacos - Arlington may be better for hole-in-the-wall joints. If in Fort Worth, check out Fuel City. Big gas station joint with street tacos and fried pies.

Best Cocktails - Thompson's Bookstore in Sundance Square(downtown). It has a "speakeasy" bar downstairs if you know the password to get passed the doorman (find it on their Instagram or Twitter)

Best Jazz bar - Scat Lounge in Sundance (downtown)

Best Tex-Mex - All tastes the same to me but Joe T. Garcia's is a legend for their margeritas. It's in the Stockyards area.

Roadhouse/Honky Tonk - Billy Bob's Texas - in Stockyards

Also check out Texas Live which is next to the stadium. Enormous sports bar venue

Enjoy your visit!
also...Arlington has an amazing BBQ joint

called Hurtado. It's very close to the stadium (not walking). It's referred to as Mexicue as the owner/pitmaster is Mexican-American and puts a slant on the seasonings. The Birra Tacos are to die for

This is the answer. The DFW guys host one of the best Giants tailgate anywhere on the road. Lot's of great people. We first met them in 2011 and have since enjoyed other tailgates there and on the road with them.

Our BBQ spot is in Euless called the North Main BBQ. Get the all you can eat plate, and BYOB as they don't serve Alcohol but will gladly let you bring your own.

Have fun and bring home the win for us!!
Take the tour of the stadium today or Monday
