WHEN WILL IT FREAKIN' END? There seems to be no end in sight

Anakim : 10/10/2021 7:58 pm
With the exception of one year, we've been dealing with shitty football every year since 2013. Almost 10 years of complete and utter garbage. We haven't won this fucking division since 2011.

Every year I wait anxiously for the Giants season to arrive. 8-9 looooooooooooooooong months. Can we ever just be somewhat respectable and not be a complete embarrassment? Most losses in the NFL since the start of the 2017 season.

When is enough enough? And what is enough? Is there an enough? Because I've had enough!
When?

They are staring another “rebuild” in the nose

And the most depressing part is Mara will just swap Abrams for DG and here we are again….
I think when John Mara realizes his operation is stuck in 2011
The_Boss : 10/10/2021 8:01 pm : link
He needs to clean house. And yes that includes Judge. It’s only going to get worse. Imagine McVay and the Rams hang 50 on us next week at home?
it ends

when they start hiring smart people. No sooner.
It won't
larryflower37 : 10/10/2021 8:04 pm : link
The ownership is the cause at this point.
They will never make the moves to turn the organization around and we will continue to go through rebuild after rebuild.
At some point talented front office people will not want anything to do with this franchise.
It’s true
BillT : 10/10/2021 8:04 pm : link
The rebuild has been mishandled. We’re still multiple players short on the OL and the defensive front seven. That’s a couple of years of player acquisition. It so disappointing that the GM did do what he said he would. Think bout this. Two years into the rebuild he had drafted one OL and signed one OL. Should have been fired then.
Soon we have some really young key studs

are the Giants turning a profit this year?
markky : 10/10/2021 8:05 pm : link
probably a nice one. so no, it won't end anytime soon.
The good news is
Breeze_94 : 10/10/2021 8:06 pm : link
they have a good young QB, electric playmaker in Toney, and a franchise Left Tackle in Thomas..better than what Reese left this franchise with.

I do think it's time to move on from Barkley. No second deal for him. Can't pay a RB big money and now the lower extremity injuries are piling up with him. Let him go play somewhere else for 15 mil a year.
There seems to be no end in sight
sphinx : 10/10/2021 8:06 pm : link
Anakim, you're a young man. You've got a way to go. I fear my 'end' will precede the Giants 'end'. Have some empathy.
Another 3-4 years at a minimum
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 10/10/2021 8:09 pm : link
Another complete rebuild. Name with conviction an offensive line starter in 2 years other than Thomas. Name with conviction a starter on the entire defense in two years other than Dex.
I look at the Bills
family progtitioner : 10/10/2021 8:13 pm : link
currently my hometown team, as an example of what needs to happen. They had a 19 year playoff drought which seemed like it would never end. They drafted some decent players along the way, drafted some RBs in the 1st rd (sound familiar?), never had a QB. The only thing that changed that actually made a difference was ownership change. They brought in smart people, hit on a great QB and now they have turned it around.

The Maras will never sell so that option is off the board. Only with total organizational change will this thing turn around, IMO.

Eventually because the league is setup to reward failure there will be a competitive season maybe even a playoff appearance but it will be fleeting and very short lived but even that one competitive season isn't anywhere in sight right now.

I’m not so sure of that. Mara has been aggressive with firing head coaches. He won’t promote from within after a 4-13 type season. He can’t. If he did this fanbase would revolt, and we all saw how he reacted after the Eli benching. He cares very much about optics. I’m confident the next GM is not in the building.

Yep, right now we're the same as the worst of the Jerry Jones and Daniel F. Snyder eras, except they didn't have analytics in that era so the Maras are even more exposed.

Well then the franchise is hopeless because the Mara’s own the team. I’m not there yet. Not many GM jobs out there, I think this will be a coveted job once available.

No one is paying him 15 mil a year. Only one franchise dumb enough to pay him 8

Out that you need to have a good OL and front 7 on defense. Badly run teams pick WRs and RBs early in the draft when the trenches are not settled.

Firstly my friend, try to relax and look at what we have:
Big Blue '56 : 10/11/2021 8:01 am : link
A young team, with a bunch of talent, some of it untapped. A young promising coach who was surrounded by top notch coaches through the years. I believe he will grow nicely with experience as Chuck Noll, Belichick and other greats have. He will clean up things as he matures, imv. Unlike the other coaches since prime TC, these guys play their asses off for JJ, for the full 60 despite being outmanned and/or overmatched.

Yes, it’s been frustrating especially this year when we were legitimatel thisclose to a 3-1 start. It may turn out to be another lost year if injuries to players we cannot afford to lose continues. But we are building the right way even if it doesn’t appear so right now.

You saw what we could be offensively with all hands on deck last week. There are no juggernauts in tge league right now. They all have some flaws-some bigger than others.

The FACT IS, we’re depleted right now. Yes, we’re snakebitten it seems, but as much as people lament the INJURY EXCUSE, you can’t lose your top 3 players within minutes of each other and expect to just roll along. Then you lose the potential stud OLT in Thomas

People are tired of a bunch of things, especially the INJURY EXCUSE. Tired or not, it is extremely legitimate. You saw the potential of just those 4 merely a week ago..

We lost a crucial player in Martinez as well. He was enormous for us and not easily replaceable. Would we have benefited from a Micah Parsons? Perhaps, but then again, we don’t get Toney and a Number 1 next year. I hope there’s a stud LB we can finally snare in the ‘22 draft.

We’ll be fine moving forward, I believe. I think we’re on the right track.
And even yesterday,
Big Blue '56 : 10/11/2021 8:03 am : link
weren’t we at 10-10 before the injury roof caved in?

And btw, I didn’t think going into the game, without Thomas and the protection he offers, that a win was in the offing despite the hope that it was
'56 I appreciate your post
Ten Ton Hammer : 10/11/2021 9:08 am : link
but I have a hard time agreeing with it.

Losing martinez is hard, but he's not Harry Carson. If the defense collapses like a house of cards when one guy goes out, it wasn't a well-built defense.

But we already know it wasn't a well-built defense because there are no other linebackers on this team.

Good teams can survive big injuries because you have at least some other talent to help carry the load. We haven't had more than 1 legit linebacker on this team since 2017. Makes it easy to fall apart when the one good player gets hurt.

Yeah, the D is enigmatic at this point, but I wouldn’t minimize (you’re not) the loss of Martinez. We MUST address LB high in the draft, imv

I said this before, and I'll say it again. I also hate to say it but I think this franchise is very much alike the Oakland Raiders post 2002 Super Bowl loss.

A once "proud" franchise with absolutely no direction.

I mean be honest, when was the last time you went into a season expecting this team to be good? It's just the same old repetitive bullshit over and over and over. Repetitive non-competitive games, injuries, even with no injuries they still look like shit.

Just look at the 2019 game vs Philly in week 17 as a perfect example. They had everyone healthy, Barkley, Jones, Engram, etc. the "core" of the team and they still got waxed by a bunch of Pet Co. cashiers.

Injuries don't mean a thing. They suck with or without them.
