The Giants stink, yeah I know. But how many injuries do we get from year to year. And, of course, we are not the only team. Literally, after every play I am looking for injured players or yellow flags, because they happen so often. I love the game and will watch, but the emotional commitment when assessed against the randomness of this entire journey doesn’t seem to make much sense from a time invested perspective. We talk all of season about Kenny Golladay, the guy hasn’t really played a healthy game yet (maybe last week). Our projected opening day roster looks nothing like what we have out there week to week. Today, was an extreme example of this, but injuries really make this a very random game and it just makes me feel crazy for following it 12 months of the year. However, like every addiction, I will keep coming back for more.
Totally agree.
I'm also a Rangers fan and while I admit we have one of the better trainers in the NHL it's just so nice knowing more nights than not you'll have at least close to a full roster. Then again the Penguins deal with a ton of injuries year in and year out so maybe I'm just lucky as a Rangers fan.
The call on Bradberry and then the no call on the play in the end zone with Toney.
The call on Ojulari? Give me a break. That was a huge 3rd down, he’s going full speed but pulled up and made every effort not to impact Prescott violently.
Just a demoralizing day for us as fans.

Don't forget the Cowboy defender ripping Booker's helmet off his head by the facemask as he fell into the endzone on his TD... no flag of course. If that was Zeke Elliott different story
If we looked at Dak the wrong way, flags all over the field
I feel like every time I put on a college game it’s a lopsided blowout.

is way better than the NFL now

Then you obviously didnt tune in to any games yesterday.
Unfortunately I feel the same way especially if our defense makes a big stop on 3rd or 4th Down I'm conditioned to expect a flag to come flying in late to gift the other team with a fresh set of downs and 15 yards for some bullshit reason
Agreed. All the offensive innovation happens there and more importantly the stakes are higher for the teams with CFP hopes. Its essentially a playoff when the season starts. And no one is mailing it in because of a big pay day they got the year before.
But back to the Giants and the NFL. This NFL is far from the golden age of 1970-1990 pre free agency. The rules were different. The game wasn't fast break football. Teams had great physical defenses. Teams could build depth and train players in their systems for years before they had to put them on the field so the injuries weren't as much of a factor unless it was a star player. But the players deserve to get paid and if this system is how to pay them then so be it.
In my family when I was growing up the Giants were a tradition and a way to unite different factions of uncles and cousins that didn't agree or get along about a lot of things. And the Giants SUCKED most of those years but we still went to the home games and watched all the away games. Home games were blacked out on TV until the late 70's I think.
Everyone is gone but me now so planning my fall and winter Sundays around the Giants, following them, ranting and venting about them keeps those memories alive. No amount of Mara's or a Gettleman will ever change that. And the Giants SUCK again. Just like the 1970's with no end in sight.
I think the team has turned the corner in talent. Most importantly, Daniel Jones is showing that he is our quarterback. Give him two seconds to unload the ball like he got in his first two seasons, and in Eli's last two seasons, and he's got no shot. With Thomas the offensive line is about there. And who knows, someday they may put out there a blocking tight end to help the other linemen, instead of a pass dropping tight end who we don't need given the receivers and running back we have.
If it were practicable, I would go back to the days of heavy hitting even at the loss of a few more star players. A confident team doesn't miss the star's absence so much. Not very good players raise their play to pretty good. Remember that David Diehl was the starting left tackle on two Super Bowl winners and he was good enough.
Jeff Hostetler can be fetched from wherever they were hiding him in the basement and take over without the club missing a beat.
And the officiating is often worse. Watch the UM vs Nebraska game yesterday? There was a series of big calls, reviews, and overturned that ruined the second quarter. It was one after another. A first down spot. Called short, reversed. Then a TD called, reversed. Then the next play called TD, reversed. Then next series the other team called no TD, reversed.
Then add in random targeting BS on top. No, it’s not better officiated.
Football has become too fast and complex to ref well. The plays are often bang-bang, but the assessments and interpretations are critical. The rules are endless and convoluted.
A kid yesterday punted, had it blocked, picked it up and kicked it again! Is that a penalty? (No, because ball never went past the line of scrimmage.) Except the punter did cross the line, refs got the rule right but call wrong.
