Did you really thought the Giants would turn it around after winning Week 4 vs the Saints? I appreciate the fans that are optimistic, but you have to come to reality, the giants not making the playoffs because they are a bad team. Yes every team (even bad teams) find ways to win games they not suppose to win. We are in the same class as the Jets, not the Cowboys. Troy Aikman is right about that. Losing Lemineux, Gates, Martinez, Jones, Saquon, Shepard, Slayton, Golladay, does hurt, but this is Sports, next man up mentality. As I said earlier, our season is over since we lost to the Washington Football team Week 2 (knowing that was a must win game). People can say how you gonna win with all these players hurt? We were losing with all these players when they are healthy. Bad team find ways to lose and that what we are.
We don't have bad luck. we have 2 GM that can't draft and make the Giants a good team since 2013 (Both Gettleman and Reese had plenty of time to make this team relevant). We have an owner who has made mistakes and our GM has hire bad coaches. This goes up all the way to John Mara, but as a owner he won't be gone. Get ready to have a new General Manager, new head coach, and a new quarterback (if the new GM doesn't want Jones). This is a performance league and if you not winning games, there will be changes made down the road. The Giants won't be good until 2-3 years from now.
I will still watch and root for my team, but I came to reality that we are in rebuilding mode and just hope this offseason and after, things will get better.
I think we are only winning another 3 or 4 games....so no playoffs aren't remotely in my mind.

I am sure there are fans like me and you who thought we not winning this game and expect improvements, but I don't get why people are upset week after week. We are a bad team and we find ways to lose. Yes having more injuries does hurt, but we been losing with everyone healthy.
My point I was making earlier is if you draft well and have good free agents signing, you will have good depth, since injury happens in sports. Yes Dak got hurt but the cowboys still had chances to make the playoff. What if they won against the Giants Week 17 and Redskin lost to Eagles? Yes backups are backups for reason but if you have good depth, you can still win some games.
Teams that have been bad for a long time develop a loser's mentality. We saw the Giants lose two games on the last second field goal that they should have won. That comes from being from having the mindset of a loser.
Like the Bills and the Cards finally turned their franchises around, so the Giants are in the process of doing if they don't turnover their management and get rid of their best players as the Giants did in 2017 and 2018 when they cleaned out the 2016 defense that had finished 3rd best in points allowed and placed six players on the All Pro team.

lost Dak and finished like 5-11? Or was it a legit excuse then?

Chance to win the worst division in history.

I do agree that the players may not be passion or show fight or not be confident and that may be a factor as well this season, but its also that we have bad players and our depth is not good. If we hire a new General Manager, there are chances he keeps current players, but you will also expect new coaches and players as well. We just got to hope for the best.
Every year is different, sometimes the players get better or worse, injury happens, the rankings always changes, and team changes as well. We seen bad teams get better and good teams get worse. I am sure a lot of people had high expectation of this defense since we finish top 10. We just have to hope our defense is better next year.
But OP is right, we're a bad team. Have to rebuild yet again.
They assume that everybody who did well continues to do well. They assume that everybody who struggled will get better. They assume that every young player will improve. They also disregard that other temas also improved (or tried to) in the off season.
In reality progress is never linear. Regression to the mean happens every year (btw especially defensive stats are quite variable from year to year). Sometimes players never get better. Sometimes players fall off a cliff. Often times players get hurt.
It's basically safe to say that if you have to rely on so many things going right and so many players to improve in a given aff season, you're already fucked. It's hard enough for good players to stay consistent year-to-year. Average or bad players don't often improve to above average players at all.
I see ILBs getting moved right out of plays and Edge defenders not doing a very good job there either. LBers are sorely lacking in this team, especially on a 3-4 base defense!!
