With about 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Aikman commented that Judge treats the first 4 games of the season as an extended exhibition season, and that he learned that from Belichick.
I sincerely hope this isn't true and Judge doesn't really think this way. Has he not noticed that Tom Brady isn't on his team and that the Giants aren't playing in a cupcake division with the Jets, pre- Josh Allen Bills, and Dolphins?
Conventional wisdom says he gets at least a third year to turn this hell-hole franchise around. And, if all else fails, he has John Mara on his side since the owner hand-picked him.
But that may be a false narrative.
John Mara doesn't have to "fire" Joe Judge. Instead, once Gettleman is "retired" at the end of this dismal season, his replacement will be give a free hand to bring in his own guy.
That way John Mara stays above the fray.
He showed his true colors yesterday. In the past I felt like he was balanced in his analysis of games but yesterday was a lovefest for his Cowboys.

I didn't see that at all.
1) The Cowboys are a better team, so of course they are going to get more praise.
2) He praised the Giants win last week, Jones in the beginning of the game, Garrett, and Toney throughout the game.
3) The Giants got shellacked, so there is a limit to how much he can praise them.
I get that blaming the refs is the common refrain from the losing team, but some of those calls (and non-calls) were so over the top; particularly the Bradberry PI on what would have been a 3rd down stop at the goal line, and then the 4th and goal where the DB ran over Toney.
Worst of all was when #7 for Dallas pushed off the receiver on the interception. Not only did Aikman make zero mention of the contact by the DB, but he ball-washed him for his special confidence in his "make-up speed" or some such BS. Umm...either that, or #7 was badly beaten by the Giants receiver, and he picked off a ball that was 10 yards underthrown by the backup QB while pushing off the receiver.
The one big factor is the Pats used to do this for all those years when they were guaranteed to win the division so they could take a methodical approach early on. They also had Brady.
I don’t think you can really learn what you have in preaseason and the first few games of the season allows for some real evaluation. Problem is when that happens and you realize no adjustments are going to help with what you have.
I certainly am not seeing the same this year....so i hope the more tape....the more the staff learns.

Couldn’t agree more.
For years I’ve felt Troy dis a good job in that we obviously all know he loves Dallas but he largely kept it out of his broadcasts.
There was a very noticeable difference this week starting with his mid week commentary and right through the game. I thought he was an arrogant asshole yesterday.
On a scale of of 1-10 where I usually think he stays relatively balanced albeit leaning some towards the Cowboys at around a 6, yesterday was a clear 9.
Guess what? There's a reason the Pats have never been duplicated. Without Belichick, you can do everything exactly the same and suck ass. He's the piece you need.
Judge needs to be himself. You try to copy what NE does and you're cooked.
He was talking about the Cowboys as an unbeatable dynasty. It was hysterical. There is NO DIFFERENCE between this Cowboys team and any other of recent memory.

Completely agreed.

I def saw that he pushed off a bit, maybe not enough for the stadium they were in... But let's face it the Jints can't stop the Sisters of the blind HS team at this point....

Some of you people need to learn how to watch a game while tuning out the commentary. I can't remember a single thing either Buck or Aikman said yesterday, because I'm not obsessed with it like so many of you seem to be.

This is why the Giants have sucked for 8 of the past 9 years, because this rich dumb ass "hand picks" and "stays above the fray", like getting mad at MacAdoo for benching Eli. What a joke.

I muted the broadcast yesterday when Aikman was laughing during the game in first quarter.

Yea, I wanted to hear Aikman eat crow with a Giants win, or with them just being competitive, but as the disaster unfolded it was clear that his pre-game comments were not out of line, just accurate assessment. It would have been nice if the Giants did not lose 4 starters on offense and the game was close, but the world will never know.
He was just laughing at the joke franchise NY has become.
Wanna really get upset?
Count the hours you’ve wasted over the past decade rooting for a Bottom 3 Giants team.
So depressing.
that Judge did not hit the ground running this year or last even accounting for preseason injuries.
Maybe the Patriots had the ability to do that without killing the season, but NFC East teams do not.

Belichick hasn't replicated Belichick without Brady...
I think what he meant is that they consider the first 4 weeks an evaluation period where they are adjusting the team/depth chart. Not just locking in on a starting 22/final 53 and saying this is it. That was 1 of Coughlin's weaknesses imo and why Ahmad Bradshaw didn't play as a rookie until he was forced in by injuries.
Seeing guys like Roche/Coughlin get in yesterday imo is sort of an example of actively testing the roster. Same with Brightwell getting some carries a few weeks ago. And same with their OL rotations earlier in the year when they still had enough healthy OL to do that. They give guys throughout the depth chart chances to get reps on tape with the obviously hope being someone does.
The thing that bothers me the most was the non call on the pass interference in the end zone. Yeah I am aware of the debate that it was not PI or borderline because he might have been tripping already but I am just 99 percent convinced that it would have been called if the teams were reversed and by multiple officials or if not immediately by a late flag. Not that it really mattered in this game but this is what I expect in competitive games with Dallas, I can deal with the shit in the broadcast booth but not the field. And if you are being objective some of the things he says rings true. Solution to broadcast stuff, put together a better team. I am not sure there is much we can do about officiating bias especially with regard to “America’s Team”.
not that the games don't count.
