When I watched Kadarius Toney last night I thought of AB

Essex : 10/11/2021 9:08 am
in his prime. I am not saying he will be as good or as durable. However, ridiculous catch radius and the ability to get the ball within five yards and just find space through sheer football ability. I also thought about the mental health issues AB had. Hopefully, we will do right by this talented kid and make sure he thrives here both professionally and personally. Because if we do, we found a stud, maybe we even got paid an extra first round pick to draft later the best WR in the class. Today, is one of the most down days I have felt as a Giants fan, another lost season etc, but this kid is electric.
Sort of...

I remember Pittsburgh not being afraid to use AB as a punt returner for years and he scored a few TDs on run backs... somebody on this team needs to grow some balls and go for it all. Put KT at PR next week and going forward he's just too elusive and fast to not be used on ST.

I would love to see Toney as a PR, but you also have to remember Brown was a 6th round pick so special teams was his initial path to the team. Teams are always more cautious with their 1st round picks.
Last week
TommyWiseau : 10/11/2021 9:33 am : link
And this week confirms that KT is one of our top 3 players on this team. Thomas, Jones and KT. IF Jones can improve for the rest of the season at least we have the 3 core players on offense.
That’s a bad comparison

AB was a killer route runner, KT isn’t that. We need to see a bit more to get an accurate comparison.

Shepard and Golladay are not core players? Slayton? Hernandez? Barkley?

Antonio Brown also sat almost his entire rookie year. He didn't come into the league as this elite route runner - that took time.

It will be nearly impossible to duplicate Brown's career, its been incredible outside of all the off field stuff. But Toney definitely has some Brown in his game (that IT factor that's hard to quantify but you know it when you see it).

Ha, this is assuming the other team needs to punt!
same team comparisons are generally lazy but he looks like rookie obj
Eric on Li : 10/11/2021 9:41 am : link
when he gets the ball he just looks twitchy, elusive, and violent. every touch feels like it could go the distance. and yesterday he showed he can similarly go up for the ball and make plays above the rim, not just after the catch.

unbelievable they got him and an extra first. just hope he can learn a little self preservation.

IDK… he ran a beautiful route to start the second half and busted Trevon Diggs’ ass.

Heck I wish the rest of the team would pick up on his fight! We need more dawgs on this team.
he reminded me of another #89

Absolutely not. Shepard and Golladay can't stay on the field, neither can Barkley. Hernandez is an awful football player, Slayton has shown glimpses but needs to improve. As of right now, no other players on the team has a higher cieling then KT, Jones and Thomas and no other players have shown they are as good as them on this offense.
Shepard
TommyWiseau : 10/11/2021 10:45 am : link
has missed significant time in 4 of his 6 seasons. He can not be relied upon.

Golladay hasnt missed a game and whether you like it or not he is part of the future simply because he is signed long term..
I never saw Bradshaw make moves like KT

The one leaving 3 defenders in the dust then another two was unbelievable
I think he was referring to Antonio Brown, not Bradshaw
BSIMatt : 10/11/2021 12:12 pm : link
Antonio Brown is a guy I've thought about regarding who Toney resembles. Brown was next level after the catch, and his separation on routes was the standard. Toney's after the catch speaks for itself, and his route running while still in it's infancy has the potential to be at the level due to his incredible stop/start and change of direction. He was averaging 3.7 yards of separation through 4 games, which is exceptional.

I can see some Steve Smith comparisons, but I think Smith had an extra gear on Toney and was a bit more vertically gifted.

This is more accurate. The ability to stop and go/change direction is similar. But I think Toney gets to his to speed quicker. He's got a few gears...

There may a little bit of Tyreke Hill too.

Maybe he doesn't have the Odell outside burst but he's like a video game on the inside. John Ross can be the burner. Treat to watch honestly. Now that DJ is banged up it really doesn't matter so much.

FUCK

Initially yes, but Brown was still the PR after years and years of success... and still breaking games open as a PR.
