They are 2-3 which isn't the end of the world but they usually start hot and remain hot throughout the season. Mahomes has thrown 6 picks, which matches his total from last year. And before you say they've had a tough schedule, yeah but the Chiefs are supposed to be the standard to other tams. Did the league catch up with them? Their defense has never been great and this season has been pretty awful but their offense is not amazing either.
Hill looked like crap last night on the shorter routes. That drop for the pick 6 was bad. Buffalo was just a much better team last night.
Also horrible defense.
Also horrible defense.
Maybe that's something for the Giants to look at?...
On offense this is definitely the case. I've never seen Mahomes under this much pressure, outside of the Super Bowl last year. They were applauded for how well they rebuilt the OL and shockingly (not really), it isn't going that well. You also have to add in how average CEH is. He's slow and doesn't break tackles. He was 14th in broken tackle rate last year, 39th so far this year. They are effectively a 1 dimensional offense now unless they are playing with the lead.
Ohh and that D is still bottom barrel.
Tampa beat NE because of a doink, and we’re only dominant in 1 game.
KCs D is just not good, and their OL which we were jealous of has shown that 3 new guys on OL will take a while to jell.
It really is too bad we have all the injuries this year, because NONE of the teams that our schedule shows we should fear scares me this year, even TB, KC, or anyone else, IF we stayed healthy….and had any resemblance of our 2020D.
It's very difficult to stay on top of the NFL for long, they probably need to retool some things and shore up the defense.
Chiefs self scouted and knew their OL was in trouble. They decided to invest and retool to try and get a new contention window with Mahomes and it may take this season to gel. They may have to do same to their D this off-season. Defenses respect their offensive talent but are willing to attack more and more.
I think Chiefs got a little arrogance still despite the Bucs thumping them in SB. Reid may have been a little distracted this off-season and Spags tends to run up and down on his defense year to year. He doesn’t have a lot to work with however. Some veterans and youth just added in but a bit of a mish mash. Clark and Hitchens look like they’re at end of careers for certain. If Matheiu and Jones are out for them that defense plays undisciplined. Sorensen is a really bad coverage safety. Bills targeted him nonstop yesterday to get him out of box and forcing him to break into coverage. They’re relying heavily on cheaper filler or second chance talent at CB and they have to blitz more and more to get pass rush.
remember guys here praising the chiefs ability to rebuild the line in one offseason....
But their defense is the worst in the league giving up nearly 33ppg. Yet, their offense is scoring 31ppg. That's pretty much the story.
What NE was able to do seems underappreciated.
Mahomes has, like the Chiefs overall, has gotten sloppy.
Always seems to be throwing on the run and as you said at the different arm angles. He's gotten away with it and with success, but I guess there's a reason why they talk about having the same follow thru and mechanics.
He's such a gifted athlete but maybe the laws of average are catching up with him.
Plus, Andy Reid - he's a HOF coach - but he's been associated with sloppy team play his entire career. The NFL has become more of a video game that benefits his style more than 10 years ago - so I think he gets away with a bit more than he used to in that regard.
Chiefs are in last place. They're better than OAK and DEN but those are division grudge games that will be tough.
SD looks dynamite right now on offense.

One thing I noticed last night was Mahomes complaining every single time he got touched. He is also forcing stupid throws for no reason. What I mean by that is he seems to have fallen in love with these stupid arm angles to throw a pass when there is absolutely no reason to do so. He was making some very poor throws last night. It is way more than that but I am just pointing out what I saw from Mahomes. The constant complaining about being touched was so ridiculous. He waits until the last second and puts himself in position to be hit. It's football. Either get down or out of bounds early or don't. But if you don't then shut the fuck up.

People always thought I was being a hater by trying to offer up criticisms to Mahomes' play.
He admitted he didn't know how to read defenses the year he went to the Super Bowl. At a certain point, he has to develop those other skills.
Would not be a superstar QB in say 2015 or prior. Very good but nothing like now. The league has basically been reinvented to promote guys like him.
I think the Super Bowl could've went a lot better than it did for them had they worked on some kind of dink and dunk game plan, with calculated deep shots.
This constant hero ball is no elite stuff. When Seattle tries it too much they fail too.
I have a fundamental part with this style of play. It's not what I grew up with. I have embraced the idea of 11 on 11 football, but the NFL has taken it too far with promoting mobile QBs.
Before SB 47 (Ravens vs. 49ers), Pat Kirwan asked the question "when did a mobile QB win the SB?" as a way of justifying his Baltimore prediction. Now it looks like it's the only way.
