agreement that Gettleman needs to go. Management also.
I am not in favor of firing a football coach during the season and I'm still not sure firing Judge would be the right move. But, I could get behind firing Gettleman at any time. They obviously won't replace him permanently during the season...unless they make the same mistake of staying in house. They need to forget about Accorsi, forget about who is on their payroll, and go out and get the best GM they can find. That person needs to have a couple of days to make 2 very important decisions. One, do you want to keep Judge (and his staff) and two, do you want to proceed with Jones. Those decisions have to be made immediately and plans made accordingly.
with extra steps. I don't buy the drama. It just is what it is.
The biggest indictment is that on Day 1 Gettleman said he would target the lines for improvement... and in year 4 the lines are among the worst in the league, despite bright spots.
I keep reading that on BBI. Again, I ask - why does a two time SB winning GM get fired mid season, but Gettleman (16-37) get to leave on his own terms?

Unfortunately the decision on the coach will be Mara's decision, not the gm.

I used to think that Gettleman was the "real" architect behind those 2007 and 2011 SB teams, since the Giants downward spiral began in 2013 when he left for Carolina. For that reason I was happy and optimistic about bringing him back in 2018.
How wrong I was. He's been an unmitigated disaster.
The only saving grace I can think of is that since the Giants front office apparently does things by committee, it's impossible to parse out what moves he were his, and what ones he was against but went along with to try and be a good soldier or whatever.
I really think he's just one cog in a broken machine.
and I will lose all faith in ownership if they bring him back for another year. We all know that won't happen but I am concerned about the replacement. I am 80% convinced that they will just promote Abrams or Petit rather than doing an exhaustive search for an outside candidate.
I really hope they look hard at the front offices of KC, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh.
He doesn’t know how to build a winning roster in this league and era. He has had some success at identifying draft talent (although we picked pretty high in three of his four goes at it), but he isn’t good at assembling a roster needed to win. He has been given for years and besides some interesting young players (Thomas, Jones, Toney and a few lesser players like McKinney, Peart, and Lemieux) he has done nothing to shape this roster into even a team that competes for a playoff spot.
... how long did it take him to come up with that idea?
DG will be resigning at the end of the year. Team has not progressed since he took over. We have a few chips but that's simply because we've been picking so damn high.
dont see how Gettleman will remain GM. We know management is old school, stubborn and arrogant, but can they really be that stupid and give a big "fuck you" to their fan base by keeping him?
Does anyone really think Gettleman will be around next season.

Are you serious? Johnny Boy already has the injury excuse speech in his football binder.

With the injuries mounting, however, I fear Gettleman will get another stay of execution.
lol

It's the "Giants Way"...

EA did a solid for his friend in selling DG to Mara. And, in turn, fucked us with handing the car keys to this buffoon.
