end of first half play calling

uther99 : 10/11/2021 12:30 pm
Giants had 3 timeouts and about 35 seconds in game clock. So you can just run out the clock kneeling or maybe take a couple deep shots to try to get into FG range. But they run a screen and then don't call time out. What's the point of short pass play if you're not going to use time outs? Maybe hoping Booker "breaks one" on that screen? I don't get it
The coaching staff is proving to be an embarrassment

and look really in over their heads. This was evident in week one when they looked completely unprepared for the Broncos game.
its called playing scared.

your top 2 players on the team just got knocked out of the game and your backups are coming in cold.
the only thing i can say is you've got your backup QB in there...

..and you don't want to compound matters with a bad throw/turnover. You're down 7 and getting the KO, regroup. His only play was a handoff for a TD.

Not the worst decision, coming from someone who is down on this staff.
That bothered me too.

Even with 12 seconds or so left, why not throw it downfield once or twice.
Might get a PI call on Dallas. It works when teams do that to us.
Watching JG look indecisive about running a play or not at that point p*ssed me off.
Jasonette Garrett.
We saw what happened when Glennon opened up in the 2nd half....

yes?
Every single game has seen curious, at best, time management

and play calling at the end of the first half. That goes for both sides of the ball and includes clock management.

I get that approach, no sense risking a turnover. So just take a knee, we've all seen that many times. But the playcall seemed to be a half measure. Let's run a play with no chance of any meaningful gain and then let time run out.
This used to be a very common strategy

Try a RB draw because it's safe. If it works and picks up 10+ yards, then try to move down the field for a FG.

It isn't used as much anymore because it's not a good strategy. It's too conservative.

Joe Judge is sending a message with his conservative decisions

He does trust his players to make the play needed to get the first down. That is the the coaches also. They were supposed to be the teachers. You have a guy like KT that no one can tackle and you don’t use him in a big spot.
Agree completely

We play not to lose...instead of playing to win. Ironically, we lose way more than we win. We essentially have nothing to lose in those situations. Could have easily gotten 30-40 more yards with our timeouts remaining and we have an excellent kicker. So frustrating.
