would say Jones didn't miss plays early on in this game. He did. Move on.

Good write up but really? No mention of the insane amount of pressure on jones? They rushed 4 all game did nothing special and we could not block it up. On his prayer to Toney he got absolutely destroyed. I mean it’s almost as if Go terps wrote that section on jones.

Maybe I'm just right.

On the second overthrow to Ross it seemed like he slowed down a bit midway through the route. Looked to me like maybe he had trouble tracking the ball. Also could be chalked up to the limited reps those two have had together. I’m curious if you saw that or disagree?

Ross was slow on both throws and I said that right after the game. A guy that fast doesn't allow a DB to run stride for stride with him when he has him beat. I do think they were overthrown based on Jones underthrowing him the previous week.
I agree with ALMOST everything Sy said

No, it's really not that hard. If you're a Giants fan, you can hate him pretty easily.

I think he was slow to see and track the ball. I don't think it mattered based on how far Jones overthrew it

Sy, what is the deal with McKinney? I had high hopes with kid when they drafted him. And yes, I get that he's a babe & missed pretty much all of last year...but I thought he was going to be a beast.

Hard to say, to be honest.

He isn't playing to his true speed yet. I think he is slow to recognize, can't quite forecast yet, and shows a lot of guess work with the way he moves.

I thought he was projected to be more of a box safety/ rover. But all I see him do is play free safety which to your point is not an easy space to master, and that can take a bit more time then going down hill.

Thought he was a solid player for the Patriots though certainly not worth the money the Giants paid to get him. 2019 he was terrible and people thought the problem with his son's health was taking its toll. This year he's had a year off, his son's health is better, but he's terrible again.

Was he just not very good to start out with or did he just decline as soon as he put on a Giants' uniform?

Solder is not a starting caliber OT anymore, plain and simple. I would rank him mid tier among the 24-25 backup "swing" tackles in the league.

What happened? Without knowing him personally, I think so much of his attention and priorities have shifted toward his son, which nobody can fault him for. the hard truth is, it likely limited his training and mental focus when it comes to football.

are you feeling that the defense's problems are definitely on the front-7 and making the secondary look worse than it is? No matter what, they need to invest in some pass rushers in the next draft.

Yes, I think the main issue on this defense revolves around the pass rush and the lack of fear they instill in opposing offenses. I do think the corners are under achieving a bit, but at least some of it stems from the pass rushers...bottom 3 in the league.

Dallas is obviously being looked at as one of the better teams in football right now. How far of do you think we are from being able to compete at that level?

I've seen almost every game from every NFC team....have seen every team at least 3x.

DAL is one of the top 3 teams in the conference, no question. A strong argument can be made they're THE team right under TB. I'm not sold on ARI yet.

with Sy naming his head coach of choice, and with the complete freedom to move on from Jones if he sees fit. Though I'd like to see Carl Banks as linebackers coach or DC.

Sy, indulge us here. If you were GM in this scenario, what would you do? How would you change the Giants organization?

I would let this season play out before making any personnel decisions. A lot can happen between now and week 18. Jones still deserves another 10-12 games to prove whether or not he can be the guy.

A couple things, Sy:

Regarding the cornerbacks, is there any particular reason why Graham isn’t playing to Bradberry and Jackson’s strengths? Both are at least decent at man coverage (which is why we got Jackson in the first place), so why is Graham having them play 10 yards downfield and giving the receivers time to get open?

Regarding the pass rush: the Giants seem to be getting less pressure on the quarterback than last year. And why have they changed tactics if it seemingly worked last year? Also, are there any particular edge rushers you’d like to see the Giants get during the next draft?
Talent Evaluation
Bernie : 10/12/2021 7:17 pm : link
has been by far the biggest weakness of the front office for the past 11 years. I just don't understand how this team continues to undervalue edge rushers and sideline to sideline LB's. They passed on Chubb, Allen, and Parsons in the last 4 drafts. Maybe in the end Toney plus Chicago's pick is better than Parsons, but he is the guy I thought they should've taken once all the receivers were gone. And now it's possible that we have to watch him dominate in the division for years to come. Wonderful.
Sy your last two sentences are funny:
Dinger : 10/13/2021 8:50 am : link
ose were the days and always remember, “You can never have enough pass rushers.” Draft talent more than you draft need. It works. The Giants drafted talent and got Toney in the 1st round even after signing Golladay and with Shep slayton Ross and others in the mix. They NEEDED a pass rusher. They have for the last 5 years. They picked up Ojalari and.....maybe he comes along. Maybe they find a complementary rusher next year. Right now they are using Carter and Ximines. I swear i will be so happy when those two roster spots open up. Those two and Beal are three of the worst picks we have not cut bait on soon enough.
