It seems to me that if the season progresses as it seems to be that Shepard is a prime trade candidate. I think we could definitely get a 3rd for him from a contender, he doesn't have a huge cap number, and is under contract next season. Would steelers bite after losing JuJu?
Steelers need to turn things around to be a match. They have 1 more win than the Giants, with an aging QB who came in the league the same year as Eli. They don't need to be trading high picks. Plus they still have Claypool, Johnson, Harris, etc.
He’s injured every single year. You can set your clock to it. The guy is talented but he does nothing when he’s on the bench, which he is every year
They'd be lucky for a 6th or 7th...
Not sure the impact if we can trade him and does that assume they are getting hsi contract which they can redo.
He is often injured...love his tenacity and what he does for DJ. BUT...we aren't 2-3 players away :-)
While Slayton is cheap , he is odd man out to me or Ross right now. Prefer to keep Ross as Slayton has the dropsies.
Golladay, Toney, Ross, Slayton, Shepard, and Johnson are a solid grouping.
We won't need cap room next year....we do not need to get younger...we have several draft picks and we need to keep talent
He was good with Eli moving the sticks as the slot receiver but it's obviously different now.
Poor roster construction drafting a slot in the 1st round when you're already paying one big bucks.
Not seeing a lot of trade value in the WR crew. Slayton is wildly inconsistent, Ross has issues staying healthy, Giants love Shep.
You wouldn't take a 1st rd pick for Jones right now?
I think Shepard is a useful player in the league for sure, but that contract is off-market for the intersection of his skill-set and injury tendency.
Next year, they save 4 + million by getting rid of him. He's worth that to keep, but he may end up a cap casualty.
We should be looking to rid ourselves of dead wood - players who offer low value for their cost. We should not look to get rid of assets who are anywhere near their value, unless they are not part of the plan going forward.
Never had more than 875 yards receiving.
He did have 8 TD his rookie season - but that was in 2016. Since then his tops in a season is 4.
In his 6 seasons - he has only played every game twice.
He current contract ranks as the 19th most expensive in the league according to Sportrac ....
I'm not sure who's trading for that.
And that was even when we were healthy there.

^This. I also don't see the Giants getting anything more than low round picks for Slayton or Shepard. Too low to justify trading them, especially given all the picks we have next year. Ross has no trade value IMO.
This off season trading Shep will give 4 million of cap relieve, but it will carry a 8 million cap penalty as well.
Thanks DG and Abraham, for these amazing contracts.
Slot WRs that play underneath and over the middle are more likely to get hurt because they get hit more often than their outside counterparts.

who is not Jones/Thomas/Toney/Ojulari.

A first for JONES? hell yes! you're really looking at a 3rd which I am ok with becuase he is pretty much the #1 thing wrong for this team
Sorry, cap hit is $12.5M, not $2.5M.
